Pamper Yourself With These 5 Luxurious DIY Foot Soaks

We bring you the one thing we all need at the end of a long and stressful day - an indulgent and utterly relaxing foot soak. Apart from being a special treat, foot baths are an excellent remedy for tired, painful and dry feet, too. They’re also capable of softening calluses, blisters, and rough skin, and some can even help you prevent skin and nail infections on the feet. Here we will show you how to make 5 different foot soaks intended to address different issues, such as soreness, poor blood circulation, and dryness. Why not pamper yourself or your loved one with this luxurious and much-needed treat?
All of these foot soaks are quite easy to make and only require access to basic equipment like hot and cold water, a tub or large bowl, a towel, and 15-30 minutes of your time. The optimal water temperature for a foot soak is between 92 and 100°F (33-37°C). All of the recipes and any additional ingredients can be found below.

1. Foot Soak to Improve Blood Circulation
Foot Soak Recipes tub with water foot bath
Like
Our feet are among the most neglected areas of our body, and with the sedentary lifestyle many of lead combined with wearing tight shoes for hours on end, it isn't surprising that blood stagnation and poor circulation are the most common in the feet. To give your feet some extra attention and love they need and improve blood circulation in the feet, try this invigorating foot bath that combines the warming power of ginger with the aromatherapeutic and anti-inflammatory benefits of essential oils.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup ground or freshly grated ginger
- 5-20 drops bergamot or lemon essential oil
- 6 tsp base oil (e.g. grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, liquid coconut oil)

Directions:
1. In a small glass or bowl, combine the essential oils.
2. In a separate bowl, carefully combine the ginger with some boiling water to activate the herb.
3. Finally, combine all the ingredients in a tub or bowl filled with warm water just enough to covers your ankles. Make sure to test the temperature before getting into the water so that it's not too hot or cold. If so, adjust the temperature simply by adding more water.

2. Foot Soak for Sore Feet
Epsom salts are among the most powerful ingredients to use on feet that feel, sore, achy, and a bit swollen after a long and tiresome day. This is because Epsom salts are high in magnesium that gets absorbed through your skin and works to relax and relieve the tension in your feet. Meanwhile, the tea tree or rosemary essential oils will act as antibacterial agents to clean and disinfect your feet.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- 6 tsp base oil (e.g. grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, liquid coconut oil)
- 5-20 drops of rosemary or tea tree essential oil
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine the oils.
2. Fill the tub or a large bowl with warm water (92-100°F or 33-37°C) just enough to cover your ankles and dissolve the Epsom salts in the water.
3. Pour the oil mixture into the water. Make sure to test the temperature before getting into the water so that it's not too hot or cold.

3. Relaxing Lavender Foot Soak for Bed
It often happens that we're so stressed and simultaneously tired that it's difficult to relax and fall asleep at night. If you experience a similar concern (I surely do), we highly recommend this milky, relaxing, and oh so soothing lavender bath soak to try just before bed. Best of all, this soothing foot bath will also make your feet soft like a baby's without feeling oily.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- ¼ cup coconut milk
- 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil
Directions:
1. Into a large bowl or the bottom of a tub filled with warm (92-100°F or 33-37°C) water just enough to cover your ankles, add the Epsom salts and wait for them to dissolve.
2. Then, add in the coconut milk and drop the lavender essential oil directly into the water. Make sure to test the temperature before getting into the water so that it's not too hot or cold. Relax and enjoy.

4. Moisturizing Soak for Dry and Cracked Heels
This recipe might surprise you, as one of the key ingredients in this concoction is Listerine - yes, the same stuff you use to as mouthwash. Listerine has an ingredient called Methyl salicylate that has antiseptic, gentle exfoliating and conditioning properties, as well as a weak analgesic effect, all of which are quite useful in a bath soak. Many people swear by this ingredient and say that it can prevent fungal and other infections of the feet, as well as soften the dry and hard areas of the feet. If you want to try it out, follow this recipe.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- ½ cup Listerine
- 5-10 drops of essential oil of your choice (optional)
Directions:
1. In a large bowl with warm water (about 1 gallon or 3.7 liters), dissolve the Epsom salts.
2. Add in the Listerine to the water, along with the optional essential oil of your choice. Soak your feet for at least 20-30, adding more warm water if it gets too cold.

5. Detoxifying Foot Soak
If your feet need a deep cleaning and detox, be it after a long and busy week or in preparation for the sandal season, this powerful foot soak is what you would benefit from the most. It cleans, it softens your skin, and removes dry patches, lessens calluses, and detoxifies. You can repeat this soak once a week until you get the desired results, just make sure to always moisturize your feet after you use this foot soak.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- 2 tbsp bentonite clay
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Directions:
1. As in the previous recipes, start with dissolving the Epsom salt in plenty of warm water in a tub or bowl.
2. After that, add the lemon juice and dissolve the bentonite clay in water, swirling to avoid clumps. As previously, make sure the water is the right temperature, and when you're ready, start soaking your feet in the mixture.
3. When you're done, rinse with warm water, pat dry with a towel, and apply moisturizer.,

Amazing Treatment For Your Feet

Right from the time, a child has learnt to walk, the child prefers to keep moving, wants to explore, learn. As the child grows older, has to walk to school, play, do errands and so on, again, our feet is very important for us to do what we like and want to do. As we age, we tend to put on weight, as many have desk jobs, so not much chance to walk, but then others like housewives are on their feet right from the time they wake up till they go to bed, trying to satisfy the demands of the family. Then those who are sportsmen/ women are again depend their feet to keep them moving. But, then at the end of the day, our feet wants to be taken care of. So, here is a  simple way by which we can care for our feet.

A herbal foot soak-
Ingredients
Epsom salts  1 cup
rose petals  a handful
peppermint leaves a handful
Lime cut into rounds  a few slices
almond essential oil a few drops or any other essential oil

Epsom salts are the main ingredient in this soak. Do a little digging and you’ll realize that more than just being useful, they’re something of a miracle maker. Sometimes used as an amendment in garden beds, Epsom salts have therapeutic benefits for you as well. They draw toxins out of the body and give relief to achy muscles and joints.
Peppermint, lemon, and rose petals are all known for their revitalizing and refreshing properties. Use a handful each of rose and peppermint leaves, and a few rounds of fresh lemon. If you don’t have fresh ingredients at home, or if you want to enhance the scent of the soak, you can add essential oils instead.
After you’ve added a cup of Epsom salts and your fresh ingredients to your basin or a tub or a small bucket in which you feet fits ! fill it up with warm water. Stir the mixture until the Epsom salts are dissolved. At this stage, you can also add a few drops of sweet almond oil to help moisturize.
If you add your ingredients for soak in a big tub / bucket, then it is  something awfully luxurious about being able to sit on the couch and get a good soak while watching a favorite movie/ show.  A good foot soak lasts for at least 20 minutes. When you’re done soaking, pat dry your feet , strain the water and compost the herbal materials. Now, that felt good, didn’t it?

 Improves our blood flow

Dipping the body in hot water to the neck is kind of an exercise for your blood vessels. This is because water creates physical pressure on the body and so increases the capacity of our heart. In other words, when we're inside the water, the heart works faster and stronger. This is not a massive undertaking, more like a light exercise. A few dips a week is an excellent work out for your heart.

 SLEEP BETTER

Hot water relaxes the body and better prepares us for falling asleep. When a tense body enters a warm bath, the hot water increases the body temperature and relaxes the muscles. Relaxing the muscles not only soothes us physically, but also mentally, and many of us need that peace of mind at the end of the day.
That said, be attentive to your body - don't fall asleep in the bath and limit your stay to no more than 20 minutes

 Keep us fit

Over-stretched Muscles, small sports injuries and even joint pain can be relieved with a nice hot bath, which is the perfect ending to physical activity.

Lowers our blood pressure

A recent study has shown that soaking in a hot bath can lower your blood pressure. This is a great system for those with heart conditions who have to watch out for spikes in their blood pressure.

If you do have a heart condition then first, of course, consult your doctor, because a hot bath will also raise the rate of your heartbeat. If they say it's okay, then it's a great way of bringing down your blood pressure.

Lose weight
Another study has indicated that people who suffer from diabetes and soak in a hot tub on a regular basis are able to reduce their levels of sugar and glucose in the blood. The study found that soaking in a hot bath for about 20-30 minutes, 6 days a week, made participants lose almost 2.5 pounds (2 kilos) a month as compared to the control group.

Cleaner and healthier skin

While it is true that a shower is cleaner than a bath, a good soak in hot water after a shower can open up the pores in our skin, and if the water is clean then they can come in and clean some of the dirt and toxins in our skin. The result is fresher and cleaner skin.

Relieves headaches

Most types of headaches are caused by the narrowing of blood vessels in the head. The positive effect of the hot water on our blood vessels can be used to alleviate the pressure on those blood vessels and cure our headache.

Reduces anxiety and tension
Take a good soak and try to relax, it's known that when we feel better physically, we get more confident in ourselves, more convinced we are up to the challenges ahead.
A hot tub is a great way to reduce daily anxiety as well. Very few of us are aware of just how much the body's physical state increases our levels of perceived anxiety.

Alleviates cough and cold symptoms
The hot steam of a hot bath can dry out the mucus accumulating in our throat, which is one of the most common reasons for ongoing coughing. In addition, a hot bath can also alleviate symptoms of the flu. Taking a 10-15 minute hot-soak-break can really help you feel better while your body is getting rid of the disease.

Moisturizes our skin
We may not like the wrinkled skin we get after a hot bath, but it actually has a good effect on it. The warm water leaves the skin moist for longer, and so prevents it from drying up and getting those little cracks that often appear when it's dry.

Some caution to take note for some-
Despite all the advantages, a regular soak in a hot bath is not recommended for everyone, so make sure that...
* You don't soak for more than 15-20 minutes each time.
* If you have a heart condition, consult with your doctor about taking hot baths.
* That you take something cold to drink with you, because we tend to sweat in a hot bath and can get dehydrated.
You're not pregnant! Pregnant women are not advised to take hot baths.
