These 8 Infusions Are Natural Medicines For Many Problems

There is nothing like a hot drink to start the morning pleasantly or one at night to finish it off calmly, and that’s thanks to the calming effect of heat on our bodies and our mood. In addition to their wonderful taste, the warm and delicious beverages we drink can be used not only to pamper the taste buds but also to help us deal with the various health problems we all experience at times, especially during the winter.

If you want to enjoy good health and naturally repel diseases, you may want to try the next 8 calming tea infusions which you can easily prepare at home. With the various ingredients available at health or natural food stores, you can make homemade infusions that are not only tasty but also have amazing health benefits.

Before you start... The quantities indicated in the recipes make about 2 cups of tea. To prepare the infusion, mix the ingredients together, let them brew in boiling water for at least 5 minutes, add the desired sweetener, strain and drink the clear liquid. If you want to make a few drinks or a large amount to keep in the refrigerator, double the amount of ingredients to make the desired number of cups. You can use either dry or fresh leaves, whatever’s on hand.

1. Lime infusion

For all those who suffer from nasal congestion and bronchitis during the winter or any other period of the year - this is the tea for you. The lime plant and Aloysia leaves relieve congestion and their taste make this “pill” a lot easier to swallow. These plants combined with the rest of the ingredients in this tea, including lemon thyme, Melissa, and lemon zest, also treat digestive problems, gas and nausea - common symptoms of winter sickness.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon lime and Aloysia leaves

1 teaspoon Melissa leaves

½ teaspoon lemongrass leaves

 ⅛ teaspoon lemon zest

2. Mint infusion

The mint leaves have not only wonderful aromas, but also many medicinal properties that have been used for thousands of years as a treatment to various health problems. They help to relieve headaches, reduce fever, and treat digestive problems. This infusion also includes black tea leaves which help strengthen the immune system, calm the nerves and contribute to the body in a variety of surprising ways. This tea is excellent for anyone who feels weak because of fever or due to other illnesses.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon mint leaves

1 teaspoon black tea leaves

⅛ teaspoon orange zest (for taste, optional)

3. Chamomile and raspberry leaf infusion

It's hard to compete with the flavor of the classic chamomile tea that many choose as their regular winter drink. The next infusion, which contains chamomile among other ingredients, is excellent for all those who suffer from stomach aches resulting from digestive problems or any other cause. The calming effects of chamomile on both the digestive system and the nervous system will greatly soothe the pain in a very tasty way. The raspberry leaves will provide a calming effect on sore throats and reduce the amount of mucus that accumulates in the body during colds, flu, and other diseases.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon chamomile

1 teaspoon red raspberry leaves

½ teaspoon mint leaves

A pinch of lavender

4. Mint and Lebanese oregano infusion

Traditionally, Native Americans have used Lebanese oregano to relieve digestive problems and also to heal wounds, reduce fever, relieve diarrhea, and ease a cough. If you have these symptoms, you may want to try the next infusion that, unlike certain drugs, has positive side effects in the form of strengthening the heart.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon Lebanese oregano

3 teaspoons mint leaves

5. Fennel and ginger infusion

Fennel seeds are well-known anesthetists of both abdominal pain and bloating, so the next infusion is recommended for anyone suffering from gas or digestive difficulties. In addition, these natural seeds are diuretic, so that those suffering from fluid retention can benefit from the tea made from them. If that's not enough, fennel seeds are also anti-inflammatories, so they may help those who suffer from infections and their symptomatic pain. When you add ginger, you’re not only treating stomach aches and other ill feelings, but also preventing diseases, relieving headaches and coughing, thanks to the root's unique properties.

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons mint leaves

½ teaspoon fennel seeds

⅛ teaspoon dry ginger

 6. Elderberry and cardamom infusion

The following infusion needs to be brewed in a pot with 2 cups of boiling water for half an hour, but the wait will definitely be worth it. Thanks to the elderberry, you can rid yourself of mucus and a runny nose (from allergies or another illness). Treating the mucus will allow your body to better fight respiratory infections, thus preventing future diseases and their symptoms. This tea is especially recommended for consumption when you or someone close to you is suffering from a cold or flu, being that it will help them or you recover from these diseases in a shorter time, naturally and with a wonderful pleasant smell.

Ingredients:

 2 tablespoons elderberry syrup

1 cinnamon stick

2 cardamom pods

7. Cranberry and cinnamon infusion

The next tea's list of ingredients may be a little longer, but it will help all those who have urinary tract infections which can sometimes cause severe pain. Cranberry juice is a wonderful natural remedy for fighting urinary tract infections that get worse on cold days, while cinnamon fights inflammation which prevents them from happening. This tasty infusion can be kept in the refrigerator for a few days, and you can drink it cool to enjoy its many benefits.

Ingredients:

4 cups of unsweetened cranberry juice

1 gallon of water

 2 cups sugar (optional)

½ cup honey

3 cinnamon sticks

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon nutmeg

½ teaspoon Allspice

 ½ teaspoon cloves

Juice of 3 oranges

Juice of 3 lemons

Preparation:

1. In a medium saucepan, boil together 4 cups of cranberry juice and 4 cups of water.

2. In a separate pot, boil the remaining water with sugar and honey. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, ground cinnamon and Allspice to the pot.

3. Remove the pot with the cranberry juice from the flame and strain the liquid. Add the fresh cranberry juice to the pot with the spiced water.

4. Before serving, add orange juice and lemon juice. The leftovers will keep in the refrigerator for several days.

8. Rose and licorice infusion

Apart from their intoxicating scent, rose petals help prevent congestion in the female reproductive tract that causes physical discomfort, especially during menstruation. Licorice helps treat asthma, respiratory problems and also heals canker sores naturally. This unique root helps fight arthritis as well as skin and eye infections. For all those who suffer from one of these problems, it is recommended to prepare and drink the following infusion for several days to speed up the recovery process and feel much better.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon rose petals

1 teaspoon fresh rosemary leaves

1 teaspoon ground licorice

10 Tell-Tale Signs That You Might Have Hypothyroidism

If you’re constantly sleepy and can’t lose weight, then it’s possible you have hypothyroidism, a condition that affects millions of people around the world. In the human body, the thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland at the base of the neck that secretes two very important hormones – thyroxine and thyroid stimulating hormone. When hypothyroidism is present in an individual, levels of thyroxine are normal to low, whereas levels of thyroid stimulating hormone are elevated.
In turn, these hormone imbalances cause the pituitary gland to work harder than it normally should, as it tries to bring hormone levels back into balance. Thyroxine and thyroid-stimulating hormones are highly important because they regulate energy, body temperature, food digestion, and many major organs, such as the heart, brain liver, kidneys and skin.

In addition to sleepiness and the inability to lose weight, other symptoms of hypothyroidism include feeling foggy and sluggish. It is an incredibly prevalent condition, with about 10 million people in the USA alone being afflicted by it.

Hypothyroidism can be caused by a number of things, such as genetic predisposition to an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. It can be diagnosed by a simple blood test, and can often be fixed with the right prescription. Here are 10 signs that you might have hypothyroidism:

1. Constant tiredness
10 Tell-Tale Signs That You Might Have Hypothyroidism

While there are many causes for tiredness and fatigue, the symptoms are strongly linked to hypothyroidism. If hypothyroidism is the cause of these symptoms, they can be countered by exercising and increasing physical activity.

2. Weight Gain
If you’ve gained quite a bit of weight recently, but you’re at a loss as to why, then the cause might be hypothyroidism. The condition causes metabolic function to slow down. Even if you happen to be dieting and exercising regularly, you will not be able to lose any extra pounds, because your body accumulates water and salt when your thyroid is sluggish.

3. Forgetfulness
Cognitive function takes a hit when your thyroid isn’t working properly. Hormone imbalances as a result of this malfunctioning, can cause forgetfulness and poor memory. Seeing as this hormone deficiency or imbalance slows everything down, your neurological function could be affected after some time.

4. High Cholesterol Levels
Although it isn’t typical for a doctor to look for thyroid problems during a check-up, they’re likely to measure cholesterol levels. If they are elevated, they could also point to a thyroid problem. This is because hypothyroidism can reduce clearance of cholesterol particles in the body. If you’re looking to lower these levels, a good food to try is overnight oats.

5. Little Interest in Love Making
Having little to no interest in love making can also point to a thyroid disorder. This is because of the relationship between thyroid function and adrenal glands, which are the organs that control the responsible hormones, like testosterone. In a nutshell, low levels of thyroid hormones can also result in low levels of needed hormones.

6. Feeling Gloomy or Depressed
One of the more debilitating side-effects of hypothyroidism is feeling down in the dumps or depressed. While depression can, of course, be related to other things, it can be a sign of hypothyroidism, especially when it is experienced in conjunction with one or more of the other symptoms that are mentioned in this list.

7. Dry Skin
If you’ve desperately been trying to add moisture to your skin seemingly to no avail, it could also be a sign of a thyroid problem. Changes in texture and appearance could be as a result of low thyroid function. You should especially be concerned if your dry skin is compounded with brittle nails, poor wound healing and hair loss. Make it a priority to see a doctor if you’re experiencing these things in combination.

8. Constipation

Being unable to go can be caused by an under-active thyroid. Seeing as the thyroid gland regulates metabolism, under activity can slow down digestive tract action. This can also weaken the contraction of the muscles that line the digestive tract. This causes your stools to move through your intestine far too slowly. Eating fiber-rich foods can help with constipation, but if symptoms persist, then it’s time to head to your doctor.

9. Sore Muscles
If you exercise regularly, then it’s normal to experience muscle fatigue, however if the fatigue feels constant, it could be linked to a thyroid problem. The hormones that regulate metabolism can affect how your muscles feel if they are at low levels. To counter these symptoms, do low-impact exercises like elliptical stepping or swimming. Also, consider increasing the amount of fish in your diet.

10. Feeling Cold
Wearing many different layers in the middle of summer obviously isn’t normal, and if you’re doing so, you might be suffering from hypothyroidism. The thyroid gland regulates body temperature, and its function is affected if it is producing too little thyroid hormone. Body temperature tends to decrease as a result of this, because less energy is being burned by downstream cell targets. Less energy together with a slow metabolism means less heat.
