Relief for Arthritis

To get relief from arthritis try these simple things like-
1) imagine sitting in a place which you like the most- beach, hills, valley, any place that you love, close your eyes & enjoy the beauty around, while your head rests well or you feel comfortable, you may even lie down. take deep breaths, slowly exhale. As you do this repeatedly, it helps to relieve the tension of both body & mind & energizes you. This helps to soften your muscles & tissues.

2) Take deep breathing, count to 4 as you inhale & count to 6 as you exhale, but focus on your breathing. In case you're not able to concentrate, start all over again, as you do repeat words like calm, soft, love & visualise something that appeals to you the most. do this every 10 minutes. this helps as it helps to supply more oxygen to the brain & body, helps to calm the body & stops those inflammatory hormones from pouring into the blood stream.

3) Learn to meditate for 10-15 minutes daily, as it helps to relax your muscles, distracts you from your pain, soothes your nerves, when you think of that supreme power, by imagining it in a place which you love the most above all !

4) Practice yoga, as it helps your muscles to remain supple, increases balance & strength & prevents you from straining during physical activities.

5) Learn to reduce weight by eating healthy foods, as it helps to relieve the stress in your joints, especially knees.

6) Learn to do some stretching exercises like-
For hips and knees, you can ride an exercise bike four times a week for 20-30 minutes – enough to work up a sweat, Vangsness says.

Vangsness also recommends this on-the-spot hip stretch: Lie down and pull one knee up to your chest. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat with the other leg. Do a few repetitions each day.

Another stretch: Lie down. Put a towel in a loop around your foot and pull your leg up so your knee is straight. You’ll feel a stretch in the muscles at the back of your leg and hip. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat with the other leg. Do a few repetitions each day.

These exercises helps to loosen the joints, as stiff joints cause more inflammation & increases stiffness.

7) Learn to exercise with a good trainer, as then you do each exercise properly, which would help to strengthen the muscles in the front & back of your legs & act like a brake, as when your foot hits the ground, it reduces the pressure on your knees & overall strengthening reduces fatigue.

8) Swimming in a warm pool helps to relax the muscles, or you can even try exercising on a stationary bike, as it helps to lubricate the joints,as more lubrication mean less friction, good for the joints.

9) Before exercise have a warm bath or put some heat compress on the painful spot for 10-15 minutes. But after workout, place an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel for 10-15 minutes. Warming up increases blood flow, making them less prone to injury, cooling them prevents inflammation & swelling.

10) Try acupuncture, as it helps to stimulate the release of endorphins and encephalin, which are relaxing and pain-relieving substances. It also increase circulation around the joints.

Heart Attack symptoms in women

Unlike men, women always may not have the same symptoms like men, sweating, nausea, chest pain, going down the arms etc.

Women need not be obese to get heart attack, one may be as young as 35 too. When you feel extreme fatigue, pain in left breast & arm, then pain moving to the shoulder & back, please don't ignore these signs. These symptoms can be followed by nausea, sweating, chest pain etc. Whatever, the symptoms, at first one may think of indigestion, gas etc. But most women may have dizziness, lower chest discomfort, upper abdominal pressure or discomfort that feels like indigestion, and upper back pain.Women are unfamiliar with these atypical symptoms and blame them on heartburn or indigestion, arthritis, or stress, experts say. If they become short of breath with little exertion, they tell themselves they are out of shape, overworked, or fatigued.

Please be aware of these unusual symptoms too, learn to find out which is the best & nearest place to find the best possible treatment,  Does the hospital have a cardiac catheterization lab that performs procedures such as angioplasties and stents?
-Is this “cath lab” available 24 hours, seven days a week?
-Is there a coronary bypass surgery program?
-Once a woman arrives in the emergency room with a heart attack, how quickly is she sent to the cath lab?
-Can doctors open a blocked blood vessel within the acceptable range of 90 minutes?
Be bold to tell the Dr. that they'd not ignore of heart attack possibility, be persistent, if doctors ignore your requests, ask for tests, ECG, aspirin, oxygen etc, as once heart muscles are damaged, then it can't be reversed.

Smoking may increase breast cancer

A new study shows a significant association between smoking and an increased risk of breast cancer.
Adding to a decade’s worth of research supporting that link, the study shows that both smokers and former smokers are at significant risk of developing breast cancer.
The researchers also report a tentative link between breast cancer and exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke.
“Since 2002, important studies with huge numbers of women have been showing a strong link,” says a Dr. “This adds to the weight of the evidence.”
The study,  which was conducted between 1993 and 1998. Researchers analyzed data on nearly 80,000 women ages 50 to 79.
The participants came from diverse backgrounds and from all over the U.S., says Margolis. During the 10 years that the participants were followed, 3,520 of them were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.

Each study participant identified herself as a smoker, former smoker, or lifelong nonsmoker. The smokers and former smokers also answered questions about their smoking history: how old they were when they started to smoke, how many cigarettes a day they smoked, and how long it had been since they quit, if they were not still smoking. The nonsmokers were asked about the degree to which they had been exposed to secondhand smoke over the course of their lives.
The researchers found that compared to nonsmokers, smokers are 16% more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer after menopause. And the longer a woman smokes, the higher those numbers climb. Among women who began smoking at an early age, before their first pregnancy, the risk of breast cancer was as high as 21%.
For former smokers, the risk is 9% greater than for lifelong nonsmokers. And while quitting reduces the risk, the researchers report that it can take up to twenty years before their risk matches that of women who never smoked.
For the researchers, the conclusion is clear: “The link between smoking and breast cancer is ironclad.”

A researcher says that while there is growing evidence of a link between smoking and breast cancer, it is still relatively new and needs further study.

“I think it is a bit too early to say,” says a Dr., who wrote an editorial . “I’m a little bit cautious, but the evidence is becoming more and more convincing ... it will emerge more strongly in five or 10 years.” A new study shows a significant association between smoking and an increased risk of breast cancer.
The study,  which was conducted between 1993 and 1998. Researchers analyzed data on nearly 80,000 women ages 50 to 79.
The participants came from diverse backgrounds and from all over the U.S., says a Dr. During the 10 years that the participants were followed, 3,520 of them were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.
The researchers also looked for a link between breast cancer and secondhand smoke. They found that for women who had the most extensive exposure to secondhand smoke -- in the home or the workplace -- their breast cancer risk was 32% higher than normal.
the Dr. is quick to point out that a lot more study is needed to confirm that finding. For one thing, only 12% of the women in the study said that they had not been exposed to secondhand smoke, so the comparison group that the study used was quite small.
“Secondhand smoke was almost ubiquitous,”  says the Dr. “Women aged 50-79 are almost universally exposed.”
Though no link has been conclusively established, the Dr. does say that it is biologically plausible that heavy secondhand smoke exposure could cause breast cancer.
“The risk is likely to be elevated,” says the Dr. “You see the same type of damage to DNA in their breast cancer tissue in women who smoke and women exposed to secondhand smoke.”
the Dr. says that while smoking puts women at greater risk of lung cancer andheart disease, the link to breast cancer might help them pay more attention to the need to quit.
“There are certain women for whom this message will be enough to convince them,” says the dr. “You can’t change your age, your genes, your family history, but you can add smoking to the list of risk factors.”

Increase in the no. of cancer survivors

The increase is due to improvements in diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care as well as the growing aging population.
“A lot of wonderful things have happened,”  says a Dr. “This is very good news.”
The cancers with the greatest number of survivors include breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer, the new report shows. There were also dramatic improvements in survival rates for childhood cancers. “We certainly do need better outcomes for pancreatic, lung, brain, and ovarian cancers,”  says the Dr.
Health Needs of Cancer Survivors
The growing numbers of cancer survivors have health needs and challenges that are not yet fully understood, Rowland says.
Some cancer treatments do have significant side effects that may linger,  says the Dr.
“More and more people realize that some cancers are curable and others can be controlled,” .
“Life is not over when you get cancer,” says the Dr.
“There is tons of research going on right now that is trying to understand this population's medical and public health needs and make efforts to meet the needs,” she says. “We want to encourage all including cancer survivors, to quit smoking, engage in regular activity, and eat healthy foods.”
No one wants to hear the word cancer in terms of them or anyone that they love, but many public figures have demonstrated that not only can you live past diagnosis and treatment period, but you can live well and successfully. We all know people who have been treated for cancer and they are more open about discussing their own experience.”
“We certainly need more work in diagnosis and treatment of lung cancerpancreas, and head and neck cancers,”  says the Dr. “These are areas where research is extremely important in improving diagnosis, survival, and the quality of that survival.”
“There has been an increasing focus on research on quality of care during treatment and afterward,”  says a Dr.
Many of today’s cancer treatments are more palatable,  says the Dr. “We have so many more supportive care interventions including relaxation modalities and other types of therapies to help people through treatment.”

Better Understanding of Cancer Survival

“We need a formal plan about how to follow cancer survivors and not just for risk of recurrence and surveillance,”  says the dr. “We need to make sure we understand the late or long-term effects of their treatments so we can intervene and improve health.”
“There will be even greater numbers of survivors in the future and we need a better understanding of cancer survivorship, and what it entails for patients, their families, and caregivers,” says a Dr. “We need to intensify and provide more focus on our efforts to understand the issues associated with cancer survival.”
These may include research on some of the long-term effects of cancer therapy such as “chemo brain,” which is how many survivors refer to the mental fuzziness after chemotherapy, or how therapies affect the bones and heart in the long term. “We can’t say ‘you beat cancer’ and forget about it,”  says a Dr.
“We also need to redouble the financial issues, insurance issues, psychosocial issues, and pain management issues,” he says.

Caring for Your Skin, Hair, and Nails During Chemotherapy

Treating cancer with chemotherapy kills cancer cells, but unfortunately, many patients also have unwanted side effecBut cancer patients have many ways to cope with such changes from cutting their hair short to moisturizing their skin regularly.

Watching your hair fall out can be especially distressing. “Generally, how we look is really important to most all of us. The thought of losing hair can be especially devastating to some people,” says a Dr.
But cancer patients have many ways to cope with such changes from cutting their hair short to moisturizing their skin regularly.
“It is important for people to know that there are many things that they can do to prevent these side effects,” says a Dr.

Skin Care During Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy often causes dry, irritated skin. Rather than waiting to deal with symptoms after treatment starts, patients can take steps to minimize skin problems about one week before beginning chemo. Then, they can continue the regimen during treatment.
“There are many things that you can do to prevent that dry skin,” says Lacouture. “People tend to think of dry skin as just a cosmetic problem, but ... dry skin can get so severely dry that it becomes inflamed and more susceptible to infections.”
Lacouture’s offers these tips to prevent skin problems during chemotherapy:
  • Avoid long, hot showers or baths.
  • Use gentle, fragrance-free soaps and laundry detergent.
  • Use moisturizers, preferably creams or ointments rather than lotions because the thicker consistency is better at preventing skin dehydration. Apply the cream or ointment within 15 minutes of showering. Reapply moisturizer at night, and moisturize your hands every time after you wash them.
    • f your skin is very dry and flaky, ammonium lactate cream can increase moisture. These creams are available by prescription and over-the-counter.
    • Some chemotherapy drugs make skin more susceptible to sunburn. Use a sunblock with at least an SPF 30, and make sure that it protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Protection against UVA requires ingredients such as zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or avobenzone.
Chemotherapy patients don’t need to avoid the sun. Just be smart about sun exposure. Use a broad-brimmed hat, sun-protective clothing, and an SPF of 30 reapplied every two hours if you’re outside, for example.
Itching is also common and can stem from multiple causes: the chemotherapy drug, a patient’s naturally dry skin (particularly in people over 50), or as a symptom of the cancer itself.
While many patients aim for itch relief with over-the-counter hydrocortisone creams, they’re often too weak to be effective, says Lacouture. Instead, doctors can treat itching with steroids or anesthetic medications applied to the skin. If itching interferes with sleep, oral medications might work.

Skin can also go through color changes during chemotherapy, particularly with breast or colon cancer treatment. Sometimes, the hands or face are affected, which can make a patient feel self-conscious. If this happens there are bleaching creams and exfoliants containing salicylic acid that can be tried, says a Dr.. According to the Dr., newer chemo drugs can also cause rashes.
Check with your doctor but, as long as there are no open sores on your skin, swimming is fine for chemo patients,  says the Dr. However, hot tubs aren’t a good idea. They can cause more blood flow to the skin, which can lead to greater blood flow to areas of inflammation. “There’s no study that a hot tub will make it worse, but we tend to err on the cautious side,” he says.

Hair Care During Chemotherapy

Why do some chemotherapy patients lose their hair, not just on the scalp, but also on their eyebrows, eyelashes, and the rest of their bodies?
“Many of the drugs work by attacking the rapidly dividing cells in the body, and tumor cells or cancer cells are rapidly dividing cells,” Ades says. “But there are normal cells in the body that are also rapidly dividing, and the chemotherapy drugs affect those normal cells as well, which gives us side effects.” Because hair follicles divide fast, they’re also susceptible.
Some chemo drugs are more likely than others to cause hair loss, Lacouture says. Ask your doctor about the likelihood of hair loss before you start your treatment, so you are prepared and know what you may expect. After chemotherapy begins, any hair loss usually progresses quickly.
“Generally, patients notice it when they wake up in the morning and they look at their pillow. They’ll see hair on their pillow,” says the Dr. “Then they’ll start brushing it and noticing that it comes out in clumps.”
“It’s emotionally challenging for someone who is losing their hair,” she says. the Dr. adds that once a person takes steps such as wearing a wig or cap to feel more attractive, self-esteem may improve. Ades offers these additional tips on dealing with chemo-related hair loss:
  • If your doctor says that your hair is likely to fall out, decide before you begin chemo whether you want to wear a wig. You may want to shop before treatment to match your hair color.
  • The American Cancer Society can direct women to places that can help them with wigs, and some ACS offices will even provide women with wigs. Sometimes, insurance plans will also help cover the cost of a wig for cancer patients.
  • Hats, turbans, and scarves can also camouflage hair loss, although some people prefer to leave their heads uncovered. If you go bare-headed outdoors, be sure to use sunscreen on your scalp.
  • Cut your hair short. It eases the inconvenience of shedding lots of hair, but it also can reduce the emotional impact of watching your hair fall out.
  • Don’t perm or color your hair during chemotherapy. Those chemical treatments are already damaging to hair and can enhance hair loss. Once your chemo treatments are done and your hair has grown back, it’s OK to resume dyeing or perming hair.
  • With chemotherapy, hair loss is almost always temporary. But when it grows back, it may be a different color or texture. In older adults who still had hair color before chemotherapy, the new growth may be completely gray,  says the Dr. Often, new hair is very fine and soft.
Some patients also feel upset about losing eyebrows and eyelashes. The American Cancer Society offers a program called “Look Good, Feel Better,” which teaches women makeup techniques to improve their appearance during cancer treatment, including tips for eyebrows and eyelashes.
Can drugs such as minoxidil help with hair loss? The research is lacking, and some medical experts are skeptical. But for patients who are very distressed by hair loss and are motivated to try everything at their disposal, Lacouture has recommended minoxidil, a baldness drug, for the scalp and eyebrows to try to maintain or stimulate hair growth.

    Nail Care During Chemotherapy

During chemotherapy, nails become brittle and dry and may develop lines and ridges. Nails can also darken with certain chemo drugs, Ades says. The effects are temporary, but can last for months.
Certain chemo drugs called taxanes, which are frequently used to treat breast, prostate, and lung cancer, are commonly associated with nail problems. The nail can actually separate from its bed, Lacouture says. To minimize the effect of taxanes on their nails and the flow of blood to their hands and feet, some patients cool their hands and feet with special cooling gloves during the infusion of the drugs.
Any nail inflammation -- or for that matter, any skin rash -- that becomes open or produces discharge should be a warning sign. It could be infected and should be seen by your doctor so that it can be treated, if necessary, with the appropriate antibiotics, says Lacouture.
For home care, patients with signs of infection in separated nails can soak their fingers or toes in a solution of white vinegar and water for 15 minutes every night. It kills the bacteria and dries the areas out.

Oats for endometrial pain

20 Pain Cures You Can Find in Your Kitchen

end endometrial pain with oats

The ticket to soothing endometriosis pain could be a daily bowl of oatmeal. Endometriosis occurs when little bits of the uterine lining detach and grow outside of the uterus. Experts say these migrating cells can turn menstruation into a misery, causing so much inflammation that they trigger severe cramping during your period, plus a heavy ache that drags on all month long. Fortunately, scientists say opting for a diet rich in oats can help reduce endometrial pain for up to 60 percent of women within six months. That’s because oats don’t contain gluten, a trouble-making protein that triggers inflammation in many women, making endometriosis difficult to bear, explains a Dr.

chase away joint and headache pain with cherries

Latest studies show that at least one in four women is struggling with arthritis, gout or chronic headaches. If you’re one of them, a daily bowl of cherries could ease your ache, without the stomach upset so often triggered by today’s painkillers, say researchers at East Lansing’s Michigan State University. Their research reveals that anthocyanins, the compounds that give cherries their brilliant red color, are anti-inflammatories 10 times stronger than ibuprofen and aspirin. “Anthocyanins help shut down the powerful enzymes that kick-start tissue inflammation, so they can prevent, as well as treat, many different kinds of pain,” explains a Dr. His advice: Enjoy 20 cherries (fresh, frozen or dried) daily, then continue until your pain disappears.

Garlic erases earaches

20 Pain Cures You Can Find in Your Kitchen

erase earaches with garlic

Painful ear infections drive millions of Americans to doctors’ offices every year. To cure one fast, just place two drops of warm garlic oil into your aching ear twice daily for five days. This simple treatment can clear up ear infections faster than prescription meds, say experts. Scientists say garlic’s active ingredients (germanium, selenium, and sulfur compounds) are naturally toxic to dozens of different pain-causing bacteria. To whip up your own garlic oil gently simmer three cloves of crushed garlic in a half a cup of extra virgin olive oil for two minutes, strain, then refrigerate for up to two weeks, suggests a Dr. For an optimal experience, warm this mix slightly before using so the liquid will feel soothing in your ear canal.

Got a toothache and can’t get to the dentist? Gently chewing on a clove can ease tooth pain and gum inflammation for two hours straight, say UCLA researchers. Experts point to a natural compound in cloves called eugenol, a powerful, natural anesthetic. Bonus: Sprinkling a ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves on meals daily may also protect your ticker. Scientists say this simple action helps stabilize blood sugar, plus dampen production of artery-clogging cholesterol in as little as three weeks.

Goodness of Vitamin E

It’s a good idea to take daily vitamin E supplements. Vitamin E, the body’s premier fat-soluble antioxidant, improves glucose control and protects blood vessels and nerves from free-radical damage, which is accelerated by diabetes.

Studies show that high doses of supplemental vitamin E may even reverse damage to nerves caused by diabetes and protect against diabetic cataracts and atherosclerosis.

Recent research suggests that approximately 40% of people with diabetes have a gene variation (haptoglobin (Hp) 2-2 gene) that increases oxidative stress and doubles or triples their risk of cardiovascular disease. Israeli researchers found that when these people took 400 IU of vitamin E daily, their risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack and death fell by 50%! Vitamin E’s benefits were so profound the study was terminated early so all study participants could benefit.

Oxidative stress also contributes to liver damage, which if untreated can lead to complications such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The best studied antioxidant for NAFLD also happens to be vitamin E, with doses ranging from 400-1,200 IU per day, which results in reductions in fatty liver infiltration.

Dr. recommends  that everyone take at least 400 IU of vitamin E every day. But take only natural vitamin E. You can tell it’s natural if it’s listed as d-alpha-tocopherol or d-alpha-tocopheryl. Synthetic vitamin E is listed as dl-alpha-tocopherol or dl-alpha tocopheryl.

Fruits help to fight cancer, heart attack symptoms

Dr Stephen Mak
treats terminal ill cancer patients by
"un-orthodox" way and many patients recovered.
Before he used solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients.
He believes on natural healing in the body against illnesses.

See his article below.

It is one of the strategies to heal cancer.
As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%.
Cancer patients shouldn't die. The cure for cancer is already found.
It is whether you believe it or not.
I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments.
Thanks and God bless.

EATING FRUIT...
cid:1.3532957832@web95906.mail.in.yahoo.com

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths.
It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!
FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system,
supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.
Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit.
The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines,
but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid.
The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices,
the entire mass of food begins to spoil....

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals!
You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp,
when I eat durian my stomach bloats up,
when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc —
actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach.
The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Greying hair, balding, nervous outburst and dark circles under the eyes
all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans.
Don't even drink juice that has been heated up.
Don't eat cooked fruits
because you don't get the nutrients at all.
You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice.
If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly,
because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it.
You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body.
Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days
and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI:
Tiny but mighty.
This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber.
Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE:
An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Although an apple has a low vitamin C content,
it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C
thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY:
Protective Fruit.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer!
Can u believe this??
For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal.
However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed.
It will slow down the digestion.
Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid,
it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food.
It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.
It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks
HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE': (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!)
Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting.
Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.
Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.
Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.
Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep.
Let's be careful and be aware.
The more we know the better chance we could survive.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people,
you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

Above all, I didn't have any of the normal symptoms of heart attack now, just extreme tiredness, no sweating, acute breathlessness, was literally gasping for air !

Had angina attack & severe chest infection

Hi All

just wanted to let u all know that for almost 3 weeks, I didn't  mail any new post, as I had an angina attack, then had severe chest infection, was in ICCU for 14 days with oxygen all the time, then 3 days in the ward, without oxygen, before I'd be discharged. I went through many tests, before they'ld find out the actual cause of my breathlessness, as they thought my cancer may have spread, luckily that is ruled out, but one tests, which is supposed to be Rapid test report, is the slowest, it takes 6 weeks for the report, that means another almost 5 weeks, but by that time, the medication I'm on may show some results.

Almost 300 ml of fluid was drained out from my lungs, then more than 600 ml of fluid was drained from around my heart, that was the scariest part, as the cardiologists, kept postponing the procedure which the chest specialist wanted, as they knew it was a risky procedure, as they had to puncture a hole in my ribs to drain out, any minor error, the heart could be punctured, then if that was the case,  then I'd not have been able to relate my story to u all. During this whole scary procedure, I was totally conscious, the hole they punctured was painful, it got infected later, had some special dressing, luckily the wound has healed now. But, I've to go for regular follow up for some more time. Tomorrow, having another echo done to see if there is any more fluid collection around the heart, hope not, after that seeing the chest specialist & the cardiologist. They did an angiography, luckily, no major artery is blocked. They did a VQ scan, to see if there were any blood clots from my legs that had moved to block my lungs etc, that was also not there, then a PET scan, to see if my cancer had spread, that too was negative. So, there were at least few good things to feel happy about.

It was due to all those who were aware of my hospitalization & were praying for my recovery is, what made me recover soon, especially my hubby, kids & above all my grand daughter & my servants. I'm happy for this 4th lease of life, may be I belong the feline family !

Thank God, that none of you saw me soon after coming home, as you all would have had nightmares, as I looked like a ghost, face all puffed up, in uniformity with my bloated body, but it had an ashen look. My poor neighbour, saw me on 2nd day, as hubby was down with diarrhea & vomiting, so I had to take charge of filling water in the morning, as I wasn't sure if water was coming, so called out to him, but instead of answering me, he kept staring at my face & quickly ran inside the house, then only I realised, poor kid, as he is as old as my son,got scared, as when he came out again, he didn't look up, just said, water not coming ! So, for the first time in my life, I managed to scare the wits out of someone, as even my 5 yr. old student wasn't scared of me ! That neighbour told his wife about my scary looks, so for ' Ashtami', when she came to give the ' prasad' she didn't wait for me to come , just quickly handed it to my maid & said tell aunty that she'd come later to see me, well till today, she hasn't come !

So, a caution, to all those who are old like me, whenever, you find people close to you or those with whom you're in close contact due to work, have very bad cold, cough, please be careful, as we age, our resistance gets worse, all the more so, for people like me, who are cancer survivors, so take caution. Also if your breathlessness persists for long, don't ignore thinking it is just due to obesity or old age only, consult your Dr.

Sorry for boring you all with my story, as I wanted you all to know, how scary some disease can be, but never lose hope, faith & positive attitude helps you to recover soon.

best wishes & regards to all
