Relief for Arthritis

To get relief from arthritis try these simple things like-
1) imagine sitting in a place which you like the most- beach, hills, valley, any place that you love, close your eyes & enjoy the beauty around, while your head rests well or you feel comfortable, you may even lie down. take deep breaths, slowly exhale. As you do this repeatedly, it helps to relieve the tension of both body & mind & energizes you. This helps to soften your muscles & tissues.

2) Take deep breathing, count to 4 as you inhale & count to 6 as you exhale, but focus on your breathing. In case you're not able to concentrate, start all over again, as you do repeat words like calm, soft, love & visualise something that appeals to you the most. do this every 10 minutes. this helps as it helps to supply more oxygen to the brain & body, helps to calm the body & stops those inflammatory hormones from pouring into the blood stream.

3) Learn to meditate for 10-15 minutes daily, as it helps to relax your muscles, distracts you from your pain, soothes your nerves, when you think of that supreme power, by imagining it in a place which you love the most above all !

4) Practice yoga, as it helps your muscles to remain supple, increases balance & strength & prevents you from straining during physical activities.

5) Learn to reduce weight by eating healthy foods, as it helps to relieve the stress in your joints, especially knees.

6) Learn to do some stretching exercises like-
For hips and knees, you can ride an exercise bike four times a week for 20-30 minutes – enough to work up a sweat, Vangsness says.

Vangsness also recommends this on-the-spot hip stretch: Lie down and pull one knee up to your chest. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat with the other leg. Do a few repetitions each day.

Another stretch: Lie down. Put a towel in a loop around your foot and pull your leg up so your knee is straight. You’ll feel a stretch in the muscles at the back of your leg and hip. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat with the other leg. Do a few repetitions each day.

These exercises helps to loosen the joints, as stiff joints cause more inflammation & increases stiffness.

7) Learn to exercise with a good trainer, as then you do each exercise properly, which would help to strengthen the muscles in the front & back of your legs & act like a brake, as when your foot hits the ground, it reduces the pressure on your knees & overall strengthening reduces fatigue.

8) Swimming in a warm pool helps to relax the muscles, or you can even try exercising on a stationary bike, as it helps to lubricate the joints,as more lubrication mean less friction, good for the joints.

9) Before exercise have a warm bath or put some heat compress on the painful spot for 10-15 minutes. But after workout, place an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel for 10-15 minutes. Warming up increases blood flow, making them less prone to injury, cooling them prevents inflammation & swelling.

10) Try acupuncture, as it helps to stimulate the release of endorphins and encephalin, which are relaxing and pain-relieving substances. It also increase circulation around the joints.
