Some Unusual Benefits Of Apple Cider Vinegar

1. Clarifies Hair & Scalp

Hair looking dull, lifeless, or weighed down? Apple cider vinegar is packed with acetic acid that can eliminate product buildup, strengthen the hair shaft, and stimulate your scalp to boot!
To use it as a rinse, add 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar to 4 cups of water and stir. Pour the rinse over your hair after shampooing and let it soak in for a few seconds before rinsing with cold water and conditioning as usual.

2. Adds Shine

Apple cider vinegar is your secret weapon for shiny, lustrous hair. Add 1 tablespoon of ACV to 1 cup of water, then pour the mixture into a spray bottle.
Spritz this shine-boosting spray over wet hair after getting out of the shower.

3. Soothes Aching Feet

Use apple cider vinegar to make a simple foot soak that will soothe tired, aching feet! Combine equal parts ACV and warm water in a foot bath or large bowl and soak your feet in it for about 20 minutes.

4. Pore Cleansing Face Mask

In addition to offering benefits for your hair, apple cider vinegar can do wonders for your skin too! Mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 teaspoons of bentonite clay with 1 tablespoon of raw honey in a small bowl.
Apply this pore cleansing mask mixture evenly to your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes to work its magic. Rinse it off with warm water afterward.

5. Tones Skin

Many people who suffer from psoriasis say that apple cider vinegar helps to reduce inflammation and redness. Using apple cider vinegar and a bit of water, you can make a simple skin toner to eliminate puffiness and redness anytime!
Mix 1 teaspoon of ACV with 1 cup of filtered water, and apply it to your skin with a cotton ball. No need to rinse!

6. Acne Treatment

Apple cider vinegar also contains malic acid, which can help fight acne and the bacteria that contribute to it. Apple cider vinegar can also help regulate oil production and balance skin’s pH, making breakouts less likely over time.
To take advantage of these acne-treating attributes, just use the toner described above in #5!

7. Minimizes Age Spots

Apple cider vinegar’s revitalizing effects can help lighten age spots over time. Just dab a small amount of ACV onto spots of discoloration before bed, then wash your face clean in the morning. (If it stings a bit, dilute the vinegar with water before applying.)

8. Promotes Oral Health

Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water in a small cup, then gargle it before brushing your teeth. This simple practice can help remove surface stains from teeth and kill bacteria in your mouth!

9. Prevents Ingrown Hairs

The same toner described in #5 in this list can be used as a post-shaving treatment. Just apply it to skin after shaving to help reduce redness and inflammation, as well as help prevent ingrown hairs from forming.

More tips
I've read that having 2 tsp of ACV mixed in a glass of warm water, drinking it before lunch and dinner, helps you to lose weight.

Also drinking ACV mixed with water, helps relieve acidity.

I use 2 tbsp each of ACV, honey and water with 1/4 tsp each of red chili pdr. and dry ginger pdr. mix it well, take 1 tsp 3 times a day to get relief from bad bouts of cough. Since, I'm COPD, all store bought cough syrup weren't effective, tried this combo, voila, get relief from bad bouts of cough. As when I have bad bouts of cough, due to fibromyalgia, my ribs ache a lot and I need to put pain patch to get relief.

What happens when your children don’t get vaccinated?

Health officials have expressed concerns over the resurgence of diseases such as measles and chicken pox because of an increasing number of parents who opt out of vaccinating their child. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), immunisation is a proven tool that helps control and eliminate life-threatening infectious diseases. Immunisation is estimated to avert between 2 and 3 million deaths each year.

Vaccination is a simple yet effective way of protecting children from serious diseases. It also helps protect the broader community by minimising the spread of disease. Vaccines, which works by triggering the immune system to fight against certain diseases, protect children who are immunised and people close to them by preventing the spread of the disease. Some of the diseases that can be prevented by vaccines include cervical cancer, diphtheria, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia, polio, rotavirus diarrhoea, rubella and tetanus.

Parents who choose to delay some vaccines, or reject some vaccines entirely, may be putting their children’s health at risk. Parents can help make their children healthier than was ever possible in earlier generations by following the immunisation guidelines recommended by their child’s Pediatrician.

One of the pitfalls of aging is flabby upper arms, which makes wearing sleeveless shirts and dresses a less attractive option. As we age, our upper arms appear more flabby because of the loss of skin elasticity. While part of this is caused by aging, another part of this is caused by body weight.
To minimize the loose flesh and feel more comfortable in sleeveless clothing, you can tone your muscles with resistance exercises. Here are 6 different exercises that can be done at home to tone the tricep muscles, the large muscles at the back of your upper arm. Some will require you to use hand weights (a.k.a. dumbbells). However, you can use full food cans instead.
1. Tricep dips
You will need a chair for this exercise. Put your hands on the chair, shoulder-width apart, and your buttocks in front of the chair. Your back should be close to the chair and your legs bent, hip-width, on the floor. Straighten out your arms, keeping the elbows slightly bent. Slowly bend your elbows and your lower body towards the floor. When your arms are at a 90-degree angle, press your arms, pushing yourself back up to the starting position. Do this 10-15 times.
2. Push-ups

This is a floor exercise you may be familiar with. Lower yourself to the floor and place your hands under your shoulders. Keeping your elbows close you your side, lower your body towards the floor. Return to the starting position and repeat 10-15 times. If you find this difficult it might help to change your starting position - let your knees bend and touch the floor.
3. Tricep kickbacks

This exercise requires 1-2 kg weights (2-4 lbs.). Get on the floor, have both your knees and toes touching the floor. Holding the weights, bend your upper body forward from the hips up and bend your elbows at a 90-degree angle. Extend your arms backwards, with your palms facing each other. You should feel tension in your triceps. Return to the starting position and complete 3 sets of 8-10 repeats.

4. Tricep extensions
You’ll need 1-2 kg (2-4 lbs.) weights for this exercise. You can do this exercise in two ways: Standing or lying on the floor.

If you lie on the floor: Lie on your back, raising your arms above your chest, keeping your elbows slightly bent but not locked. Bend your elbows at a 90-degree angle, so that the weights reach the floor. Your elbows should now align with each side of your head. Lift back to the starting position and repeat this motion 12-15 times in 3 sets.
If you stand up: Stand with your knees, making sure they are soft and not locked. Straighten your arms. Your elbows should be next to your ears. Bend your elbows to a 90-degree angle. Squeezing your triceps, straighten your arms. Repeat this movement 15 times in 3 sets.

5. Bend-over row
This exercise requires the use of weights. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, and bend your knees and upper body forward from the hips up. Make sure to keep your spine neutral and not to bend your lower back. Keep your hands straight under your shoulders. Bend your elbows back and lift your arms towards the sides of your chest. At this stage, your shoulder blades should be pulled towards each other. Slowly lower the weights, feeling the tension in your triceps. Repeat this exercise 15 times.
6. One arm push-up

This is a floor exercise. Lie on your left side, with your knees slightly bent. Place your left hand on your right shoulder and press your right palm against the floor until it is straight. Now lift your upper body. Repeat this exercise 10 times and then switch to your right side and repeat another 10 times.

Scientists have designed a set of shape-shifting nanoparticles attached to strands of DNA that can deliver drugs directly to cancer cells, while minimising side effects such as hair loss and skin damage. Many cancer drugs target fast-growing cells. Injected into a patient, they swirl around in the bloodstream acting on fast-growing cells wherever they find them. That includes tumours, but unfortunately also hair follicles, the lining of your digestive system, and your skin.

Professor Warren Chan from the University of Toronto has spent the last decade figuring out how to deliver chemotherapy drugs into tumours and nowhere else.

No two tumours are identical. Early-stage breast cancer may react differently to a given treatment than pancreatic cancer, or even breast cancer at a more advanced stage, researchers said.

Which particles can get inside which tumours depends on multiple factors such as the particle's size, shape and surface chemistry.

Researchers studied how these factors dictate the delivery of small molecules and nano technologies to tumours, and have now designed a targeted molecular delivery system that uses modular nanoparticles whose shape, size and chemistry can be altered by the presence of specific DNA sequences. "We're making shape changing nanoparticles. They're a series of building blocks, kind of like a Lego set," said Chan.

The component pieces can be built into many shapes, with binding sites exposed or hidden. They are designed to respond to biological molecules by changing shape, like a key fitting into a lock. These shape shifters are made of tiny chunks of metal with strands of DNA attached to them. Chan envisions that the nanoparticles will float around harmlessly in the blood stream, until a DNA strand binds to a sequence of DNA known to be a marker for cancer. When this happens, the particle changes shape, then carries out its function, it can target the cancer cells, expose a drug molecule to the cancerous cell, or tag the cancerous cells with a signal molecule.

The research was published in the journals PNAS and Science.
