The Teas That Suits Your Blood Type

There is nothing better I like to warm the cockles of my heart with than a cup of soothing tea. Of course, there are many varieties of tea out there, and they all provide different benefits, as well as different tastes and scents. But I was completely stunned to discover that our blood type can be used to determine which teas are healthiest for us. This theory, The Blood Type Diet, is part of the work of naturopathic physician, Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo. If you know what your blood type is, you could benefit from this startling medical revelation too.

This diet is particularly interesting when it comes to tea, a nurturing beverage renowned for its marvelous health benefits. Just by drinking the tea that we are best suited to, we can make great strides in relation to the typical health problems felt by those in our blood group.

A Dr.  has interested many people with this diet, and has a number of devotees, including some actors. However, it should be stated that some in the medical community have raised doubts about the efficacy of the diet, and you can read about one such 2014 Canadian report here.

So this diet has caused some controversy with its claims. However, the results of his studies remain promising and there is little to be lost health-wise by following his advice of eating healthy, herbal products.
To get you started here is a simple breakdown of the teas recommended for you based on your blood group.
1. Teas for Blood Type O
blood type, tea, diet
Almost half of Americans have O type blood (38% O+, 7% O-). People with O type may be prone to stomach problems that can manifest as acid reflux. To help assuage and fight this sickness, we suggest a tea that is kind to the stomach, such as ginger tea. You could also vary your routine with a green tea like Sencha.
2. Teas for Blood Type A
blood type, tea, diet
A type blood is the second most common, with 34% A+ and 6% A-. Dr.  believes that such people tend to be too anxious. Thus, some good teas to help you calm your nerves include Taiwanese teas such as jasmine or gunpowder green.
3. Teas for Blood Type B
blood type, tea, diet
Blood type B accounts for around 11% of the population (9% B+ and 2% B-). People in this category often appear to be ‘lethargic’, ‘slow’ or ‘sluggish’. If this describes the way you feel sometimes, it is recommend green tea. As an alternative to that and organic green, try rooibos.
4. Teas for Blood Type AB
blood type, tea, diet
Blood group AB is the rarest, with only a combined 4% of people being either AB+ or AB-. Therefore, unsurprisingly, this group is a little harder to generalize about. However, it is not recommended that AB people drink heavily caffeinated drinks like coffee and black tea. Instead, if you are AB type, switch to young green and herbal teas.

Arthritis to cancer, the healing powers of Christmas gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh

WHEN the three wise men rocked up at the baby Jesus' crib, they brought three gifts - gold, frankincense and myrrh.

But although they might sound like bizarre birthday gifts to a newborn to us, they each pack some pretty hefty health benefits.

Sure, we'd rather be receiving a gold necklace or frankincense bath bomb this Christmas, but they've got another uses too.

And the holy gifts aren't the only festive feature to boast some surprising health benefits.

We reveal how certain Christmas staples can help manage chronic conditions:

Gold is obviously super valuable and part of that value is actually down to the fact that gold has been used as a medicine for thousands of years.

During the Victorian era, it was thought to be good for calming the nerves and was used to treat all kinds of issues, from alcoholism to epilepsy.

Even today, gold is used certain parts of the world to alleviate depression and migraines, while gold salts are known to have anti-inflammatory properties and are included in some arthritis drugs to take down swelling.

But more importantly, gold is used to treat some cancers as a way of making standard treatment more effective.

Scientists found that the shiny substance can help to attack prostate cancer when combined with green tea - a discovery they concluded: "may provide significant advances in oncology for use as an effective treatment for prostate and other solid tumours".

But generally, eating a stack of gold is quite pointless as it tends to pass straight through your system.

Frankincense
Frankincense, was supposed to have been brought to the baby Jesus to symbolise his priestly role.

It's a resin used in loads of musky perfumes and incense sticks and today, many wellness practitioners claim that it can help to reduce all kinds of chronic issues.

Scientists have found that frankincense has an active ingredient that can help relieve arthritis by inhibiting the inflammation that breaks down cartilage tissue and causes arthritis pain.

The study confirmed traditional medicinal practices which have used frankincense as a herbal remedy for arthritis in North African and the middle east where the substance grows.

The researchers, however, reviewed studies looking at the benefits of the spice and concluded that "The evidence for the effectiveness of B serrata extracts is encouraging but not compelling".

Myrhh
Like Frankincense, this comes from trees too and again, tends to be used in perfume and incense.

Back in the day, it was used to embalm dead bodies (so a cheery gift for a little kid...!).

But it has a tonne of medicinal benefits and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years.

Today, it features in many mouthwashes and toothpastes as it's thought to be antibacterial.

It's also found to be potentially toxic to cancer cells and may reduce the development of prostate and colon cancer.

One study has also found it to be good at pain relief and wound healing thanks to its high concentration of antioxidants. It's worth saying, however, that that evidence is only based on animals so more evidence is needed on humans.

Mistletoe
Mistletoe has been found to be effective in treating endometriosis.

Last week, scientists claimed that mistletoe could be the key to finally treating excruciating endometriosis.

Scientists  have found that mistletoe extract can kill the cells which cause the condition.

They took tissue samples from 40 women with severe endometriosis and exposed them to mistletoe extract in lab tests.

And they found that after just 24 hours, the festive foliage stopped endometrial cells from multiplying so easily - reducing the rate at which abnormal tissues grew.

This isn't the first time that the chemicals found in mistletoe have been found to have potential medicinal benefits.

In the past, they've been found to have cancer-busting properties.

In fact, 47 NHS patients  have been receiving mistletoe therapy on top of standard cancer treatments.

A spokesperson for  health board said: “Mistletoe therapy can be integrated with conventional cancer treatment.

Some Delicious Shake That’ll Help You Sleep like a Baby

As more and more studies point to stress as one of the main causes of insomnia, it makes sense that we try to do everything in our power to calm our nerves and provide ourselves with a little more peace and relaxation. However, the stresses and anxieties that accompany everyday life make this a real challenge, which sometimes may feel like a "lost battle" for us.

The good news is that often the secret to achieving a quiet soul and a good sleep depends not only on our control of the myriad of thoughts running through our heads but also on our diet. The even better news is that you can achieve this goal in tasty and nutritious ways such as the next health shake, which you can add to your daily menu and start waking up refreshed every morning.

The shake ingredients that will help you sleep well and continuously
This wonderful shake can be easily prepared with the following ingredients available in every grocery store. The potency of the drink stems from their combination because each of them is commonly attributed to various functions that relax the body, help the processes of falling asleep and improve the digestion process, which can sometimes be the cause of the discomfort that prevents us from falling asleep and waking us up in the middle of the night.

Apples

are the kind of fruit that we usually eat at lunch or as a mid-morning snack to get our wheels turning, but you should try to incorporate them in the evening before going to bed. The reason for this is the vitamin C content of the apple, a vitamin that has been extensively studied and found to be effective in its ability to improve the production of a hormone called melatonin, a hormone that promotes good mood and has an important role in the body's process of falling asleep. Also, apples are rich in dietary fiber that facilitates the digestive process, which can sometimes cause us great discomfort.

Lettuce

Have you ever noticed a white liquid leaking out of your lettuce while cutting it? Well, this liquid is called Lactucarium. This ingredient has been known to have a calming effect on the nervous system of the body, an effect similar to that of the opium plant, only at lower levels and without harming the body. In addition, lettuce contains various dietary fibers that help improve digestion process and prevent discomfort that may interfere with continuous sleep at night.

Cucumbers

Insomnia is considered one of the many different symptoms that indicate a severe shortage of magnesium in our bodies. A wonderful way replenish our magnesium levels is by eating cucumbers and especially their peel, which is considered a good source of this mineral. Magnesium helps to promote the production of melatonin, a hormone that allows for a deeper and more relaxed sleep, and at the same time relaxes muscles and helps to calm the body.

Honey

The sweet taste of honey is not the only reason why it should be incorporated into our wonderful drink. For hundreds of years, honey has been associated with a calming effect on the body, with the explanation for its contribution to the production of sleep hormone melatonin - which we’ve already discussed its benefits. Besides, honey excels in maintaining glycogen levels, a polysaccharide produced in the liver which is a major energy source for the body. During sleep, the body’s glycogen levels decrease because we don’t eat at night, which may stimulate the brain to look for a restock of it, and honey has the ability to prevent this efficiently and naturally.

How to make the shake

Now that we’ve learned about the ingredients and their positive effect on our night's sleep, it is time to learn how to make the drink that will not only bring us a deep sleep but also enrich our daily menu with its nutritional value and wonderful taste.
Ingredients:
•   1 apple cut into quarters, cored and seeded
•   3 lettuce leaves
•   1 cucumber (not peeled)
•   1 cup water
•   1 tablespoon honey (raw and unprocessed honey)
•   1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Preparation:
1. Put the water, honey, apple, cucumber, and lettuce into the blender.
2. Blend the ingredients for several seconds until a smooth and uniform mixture is obtained.
3. Add a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to enrich the taste of the shake and blend again.
4. It is recommended to drink the shake about three hours before bedtime to really feel its effects.
