Try these 5 natural remedies for dry mouth

Do you feel thirsty more than often? Even after guzzling down 2-3 glass of water, do you feel that your mouth is dry? If yes, then it is time for you to take extra care of it. Dry mouth or Xerostomia happens when the glands that are responsible for producing saliva are not working well. It is not considered an official diagnosable condition, but it can be due to some underlying medical condition. A person suffering from this problem might have difficulty in swallowing food, have cracked lips and have bad breath.
Dry mouth can be quite uncomfortable, but here are some natural ways to treat this condition.

Drink waterFirst thing first, keep yourself hydrated. Sip plenty of water to keep the problem of dry mouth at bay. Ensure that you drink 2 liters of water every day. You can also have coconut water or juices.

Chew sugarless gum
Sucking sugarless candies or chewing gum might provide you some short-term relief from the problem of dry mouth. Chewing Gum contains xylitol, which helps stimulate saliva production.

Gargle
Gargling every day with warm water and a spoon of salt. This can provide you some relief from the problem of dry mouth. The concoction can trigger salivary glands to secrete saliva.

Try spicesSpice up your food a little to stimulate the salivary glands. Cayenne pepper, fennel seeds, cardamom are spices you can try when suffering from the problem of dry mouth. You can add these spices in your food or can either chew a few fennel seeds and cardamom for some relief.

LemonLemon is acidic in nature and excellent to treat bad breath and cleanses your mouth. It also stimulates saliva production, which is necessary when suffering from the problem of dry mouth. Drink a glass of lemon juice every morning. You can also add a teaspoon of honey in it.

Flush Mucus From Your Body With 5 Highly Effective Home Treatments

Mucus buildups make you feel as if there’s something stuck in your throat. You feel an urge to clear your throat, and it’s really frustrating. This issue is usually caused by infections in the upper respiratory tract, but mucus buildups may be triggered by allergies, asthma, and heartburn.
Coughing doesn’t work all the tie, and there are some natural methods you should try. These include mullein tea, steam inhalation, raw honey and natural salt rinse.

The role of mucus
Mucus lines the respiratory and digestive tract in order to protect the system. Mucus prevents infections, and keeps bacteria and viruses away from the body. In other words, having mucus in your throat is a normal thing. The real problem occurs when mucus becomes thick and has unusual color, such as dark yellow, green and brown.
The production of mucus may be affected by heartburn or acid reflux. Stomach acids go through the weak lower esophaegal sphincter, giving you a burning sensation. The throat becomes irritated, and you feel the “lump” in your throat.

This triggers the production of mucus, giving you cold-like symptoms, such as cough, post-nasal drip, sinus issues and sore throat. This problem goes undiagnosed mostly because it has the same symptoms as common colds and allergies.

The production of mucus may be increased by allergens. Pollen, dust, mites, animal dander and mold irritate your throat, and your body produces more mucus. Asthma is manifested through coughing and wheezing, but sufferers may also deal with excessive production of mucus.
In cases of bacterial and viral infections, the body produces excess mucus in order to trap the microorganisms. Sinusitis is a condition in which sinuses become inflamed and swollen. This infection also causes post-nasal drip and thick, dark mucus.
You can use a few simple and natural remedies to clear your throat.
7 natural remedies to eliminate excess throat mucus

1. Saltwater
Gargle salt water to eliminate throat mucus. Add half a teaspoon or a teaspoon of natural salt in a glass of warm water. Add a pinch of baking soda for optimal results. Gargle the solution several times a day.

2. Steam inhalation
Add therapeutic grade essential oils for better results. Use Eucalyptus Radiata, Ravintsara and Mild Thyme are some nice options. These also eliminate allergens from air, prevent flu, common colds, sinusitis and respiratory infections.

Add a few drops of the oils to your hot steamy shower or your essential oil diffuser.

3. Ginger
Ginger has strong anti-inflammatory effect. A study released in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that hot ginger tea relieves respiratory infections. Steep a piece of ginger (1 inch) in a cup of boiling water. Steep for a few minutes, and drink your ginger tea 2-3 times a day. Add lemon juice, honey and cayenne to strengthen its effect.

4. Spice
Hot peppers, wasabi and horseradish relieve congestion, reduce inflammation and prevent mucus buildups. Capsaicin and allyl isothiocyanate act as decongestant and relieve the symptoms of nasal discharge and inflammation.

5. Honey
Natural pollen, royal jelly and propolis give honey its incredible power. Honey reduces coughing. Canadian researchers found that a single dose of honey reduces the production of mucus and coughing. Take a tablespoon of honey 2-3 times a day until your condition improves.

Hydrate your body
Drink a lot of water and herbal teas to reduce the production of mucus. Mullein leaf tea works best, and you can also use chamomile, ginger and turmeric to soothe your inflammation.

Avoid dangerous triggers
Avoid common irritants and allergens. Dairy products increase the production of mucus. You should also avoid processed flour, refined sugar and packaged food.

Remedies To Help You Treat Chronic Cold

Chronic cold is caused by a variety of virus. They attack the mucous membrane to start with and go on replicating with every passing hour. Typical symptoms are sore throat, cough, sneezing and fatigue.  There are enough home remedies that can successfully address the symptoms of chronic cold and get the stalwart immune system works faster.
  1. Ginger tea: A cup of freshly prepared hot ginger tea will instantly show results for a chronic cold. The compound gingerol found in ginger can sharply cut down inflammation of the mucous membrane. It also creates a safe passage for the mucus to flow out of the body. The tea not only tastes good, but adds the much needed fluid that the body requires during the cold. 2 cups of ginger tea in a day is good enough to drive the cold away.
  2. Steam: Steam in any form is a great agent to eradicate cold and cough from within. Be it in the form of tea, a hot bath or simply breathing in and out from a hot bowl, steams are wonder agent for chronic cold and cough. Certain agents such as peppermint, tea tree and eucalyptus leaves can be mixed with hot steam and the same can be inhaled for quick relief from a stuffy nose. The antiviral effects of the above mentioned agents can dislodge congestion, make way for the mucus and give relief from throat relief.

  3. Syrup of honey and onion: If the chronic cold is accompanied with a nasty cough and with yellow sputum, a combination of honey and onion juice can be a wonder agent. The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of this mix help to loosen the phlegm from the chest. It also reduces the swelling of the throat and can keep the fatigue down. For this, you can finely chop 1 big onion, in a small container with a lid,put 1 layer of onion, top with honey, repeat the process in layers topping with honey, keep it for some hours or over-night, once the juice comes out, sip it, you may add some more honey to it. I for my bad cough, made the mixture using onion and sugar and later added some apple cider vinegar, it really helped, as the juice gets over, I add more sugar and ACV to it.
  4. Cough syrup: This syrup is not the ones that are available over the counter. It is prepared from liquorice root, ginger, marshmallow root and cinnamon. This syrup will readily arrest sore throats, soothe the mucous membrane and clear the phlegm from inside. For some test improvement, one spoon of honey can be added to make the syrup drinkable. 2 tablespoons of this syrup should be consumed twice in a day before any meal.
  5. Salt bath: A salt bath comprising of scented salt, hot water, lavender oil, eucalyptus oil and peppermint oil can ease the body from tiredness and congestion. It is a welcome relief from the nasty cold. A bath of 15 minutes can relax the body and reduces body pain if any.
  6. Gargle: The old fashioned gargle is one of the best remedies for getting over from chronic cold and cough. Warm water along with salt, cider vinegar, and dried sage is necessary to make the solution. Gargle helps to clear the mucus, fixes voice and gives relief from chest uneasiness.

I made a cough syrup for myself using 1/4 tsp each of dry ginger powder and red chili pdr, added 2 tbsp each of ACV, Honey and water, mixed well, take 1 tsp 3-4 times a day, it helps.

INGROWN TOE-NAILS AND TOOTH-ACHES, SALT HELPS

An ingrown toenail is a common ailment that affects millions of people around the world. Luckily, it’s easily treatable by using salt-water. Stanford University researchers found that soaking your feet in salt water can heal ingrown-related infections in just four days. Salt is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.
To make use of its benefits, add just a teaspoon to a cup of warm water, and then add it to your foot bath to use twice a day until the infection is gone.
Additionally, dentists recommend gargling with salt water to treat and prevent gingivitis. Doing this can also help when you’re suffering from a throat infection.

1. Keep your nasal passageways open

Doctors agree that two of the most common causes of throat pain are the mucus build-up and dryness, which occur mostly from breathing excessively through the mouth when the nasal passageways are closed.

There are medicines that fight nasal congestion, especially those containing Pseudofrin (no need for a doctor's note) that will help reopen the nasal passageways.

Using nose sprays (with a salt water solution) may also help keep those passageways open and breathing easier.

2.  Home remedies to gargle with:

Salt Water: This is an old favorite, and you can create it by adding 1/4 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of warm water (the warmer the better, within your tolerance levels, don't let it get cold or it loses effectiveness). If you have it at home, this is a good time to add 1 tablespoon of Listerine for its germ killing benefits. You can gargle this mixture several times a day, and it will help you to rinse and neutralize acids in your throat. You will notice that the burning sensation is relieved and the area will start to heal. Don't let up on the gargling.

Raspberry Tea: Pour a glass of boiling water and add 2 teaspoons of raspberry dried leaves, soak for 10 minutes and then filter. You can add 1 tea spoon of apple vinegar and/or honey, and then gargle 4 times a day.

Sage Leaves: Mix 1 spoon of sage leaves with 1 cup of boiling water, soak for 10 minutes and then filter.  You can add 1 tea spoon of apple vinegar and/or honey, and then gargle 4 times a day.

Turmeric: To cure a burning sensation in your throat, mix 1 cup of boiling water with 1/2 a spoon of turmeric (for anti-inflammation effects) and 1/2 a spoon of salt. Gargle twice a day. If you hate gargling, you can also mix 1/2 a spoon of turmeric with 1 glass of hot milk and slowly sip it.

Hot sauce and water: Hot peppers contain an ingredient called capsaicin, which alleviates pain and reduces inflammation. You can prepare this by grinding a cayenne pepper and adding 5 shakes of the ground spice to a cup of hot water. Warning: it WILL burn, but try to gargle this every 15-30 minutes and see if it does the trick.

3. Horseradish Cocktail

A traditional Russian remedy: Add  1 tablespoon of pure horseradish (or a horseradish root), 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of cloves to 1 cup of hot water. Sip slowly over the course of an hour.

4. Vinegar

A useful home remedy based on apple vinegar: Take 1 cup of hot water and mix in 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 table spoon of apple vinegar.  Sip slowly without letting the liquid cool down. Drink as often as possible.

For gargling: Mix 1 spoon of salt, 1/2 a cup of vinegar and 1 cup of hot water. Drink every 15 minutes as needed.

* Be sure to melt the salt in the vinegar before adding the water.

5.  Rest

What does resting have to do with a sore throat? A lot. While you rest, your body has more energy to fight the infection in your throat. If you've taken some of our home remedies, be sure to get some rest in between to give your body a fighting chance.

6. Citrus Fruits

Lemon Juice: Mix 1 cup of hot water with 1 tablespoon of honey and 1

tablespoon of squeezed lemon juice. Sip slowly.

Lime Juice: Mix 1 tablespoon of lime juice with 1 tablespoon of honey in hot water, and drink as needed.

7. Steam

An old remedy for an aching throat is a steam tent. Sit with your face over a steaming bowl of hot water and cover your head with a towel to keep the steam in. Add 1-2 drops of Eucalyptus extract for extra effect.

8. Lozenges

Some doctors say that sugar can help reduce throat ache and accompanying cough, but even Lozenges without sugar can calm down an aching throat by keeping your mouth and throat moist, which will make you feel less pain.

9. Popsicles

An ice popsicle can calm down a burning throat. Make sure you aren't sucking on the popsicle, but cutting small pieces and letting them melt in your mouth.

10. Drink plenty of liquids

This may go without saying, but when you suffer from an aching throat, you should drink at least 8-10 cups of water a day (preferably not cold water). This will keep your throat well oiled, prevent the dry feeling you get and even aid the fight against inflammation.
