14 Most Potent Natural Antibiotics Known To Mankind

Bacteria cause numerous diseases and ailments, and even though modern medicine has become highly advanced, their most common method includes antibiotics.
According to experts
Antibiotics are prescription drugs that help treat infections caused by bacteria. Some of the more common infections treated with antibiotics include bronchitis, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections.
Antibiotics work by killing the bacteria causing the infection or by stopping the bacteria from growing and multiplying. Antibiotics only work to treat bacterial infections.
They don’t work for infections caused by viruses, which can include the common cold, runny nose, most coughs and bronchitis, most sore throats, and the flu. So if your doctor doesn’t prescribe an antibiotic for your cold, there’s a good reason for it — it won’t work!
There are many different groups, or classes, of antibiotics. All of these classes have side effects, which typically affect men and women in the same way. However, certain side effects are more common in some antibiotics than in others.”
The most common side-effects of antibiotics use include:
Soft stools, diarrhea
Upset stomach
Fungal (yeast) infections like thrush
Rashes

Yet, antibiotics use can also lead to complications such as:
Vaginal yeast infection with white discharge and severe itching
Mouth sores or white patches in the mouth or on the tip of the tongue
Severe allergic reactions that create difficulty breathing and facial swelling
Severe watery or bloody diarrhea or stomach cramps
Antibiotics can also cause long term side effects, but they are infrequent.

Garlic: The Most Effective Cure for Pneumonia, Coughs, Colds, Ear Infections

There was no effective cure for infections like pneumonia before the discovery of penicillin in 1928 when Alexander Fleming noticed that the “mold” growing in his Petri dish destroyed the Staphylococcus bacteria.

Yet, the excessive use of antibiotics poses serious health risks, and it contributes to the thriving of drug-resistant bacteria. On the other hand, Mother Nature has created extremely useful natural antibiotics, and garlic being among the most powerful ones of them.

This garlic oil ointment, also known as GOOT, is an excellent way to fight bacterial, fungal, or viral infections. Due to the potent antibacterial and antiviral qualities, garlic has been famous since ancient time.

Most of its medicinal properties are a result of its compound allicin, which is released when garlic is finely chopped or crushed. You can get the highest levels of allicin if you press and mince garlic cloves into a smooth paste.

The garlic oil ointment offers all the powerful antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal and antioxidant effects of allicin, and prevents and treats various health issues.

It is a natural remedy against colds, coughs, pneumonia, ear infections, and much more.  Here is how to make it at home:
 Ingredients
  • 5 Fresh, Peeled Garlic Cloves
  • 3 Tbsp Coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
Instructions:
Warm the coconut oil in order to melt it, and add the olive oil. Then, crush or mince the garlic cloves, and add them to the oil mixture. Leave the ointment aside for half an hour, and then strain out the garlic. Pour the garlic oil into a suitable container or a smaller jar.
After an hour, the garlic oil ointment will turn into a thick soft paste. Raw, cold-pressed coconut oil is a rich source of lauric acid which is also a powerful antibacterial and antiviral agent.
If rubbed into the skin, this ointment will transfer raw garlic oil directly into the bloodstream.
It can be used to treat various health issues:
  • You should apply it to the feet of your children or infants to fight infections.
  • To fight acne, add a few drops of garlic oil to a mud pack, and apply the smooth paste on your face. Leave it to act for 10 minutes and rinse it off with cold water.
  • To cure the sores, you can apply it directly in the mouth.
  • Apply a few drops of it in the ear to soothe an ear infection, or rub it on the chest daily to fight pneumonia, coughs, and colds.
  • To almost instantly relieve toothache, sprinkle a few drops of garlic oil on a cotton ball,  press it in the affected tooth area and hold for 15-20 minutes.
  • You can also apply a few drops in the nostrils to treat sinus infections.
  • In the case of an Athlete’s foot or jock itch, apply the oil on the infected area.
  • Additionally, massage the scalp with the potent garlic oil ointment to prevent hair loss.

5 effective ways to prevent sepsis

If you are experiencing higher respiratory rate and change in mental status, you may be suffering from sepsis. It is a life-threatening condition that occurs due to over response of your body’s defense system. In response to any infection, the immune system generally releases chemicals in the bloodstream to kill the pathogens. In case of sepsis, this response goes out of balance and causes changes that can potentially damage multiple organ system. It is characterized by symptoms like high fever, unusual sweating, dizziness, slurred speech, diarrhea, shortness of breath etc. If not treated on time, this may further result to septic shock that is characterized by extreme drop in blood pressure leading to death. Affecting people of any age, sepsis is considered most dangerous in older adults, pregnant women, people with weakened immune system, and children younger than 1 year. Any type of infection viral, bacterial or fungal infection including pneumonia, digestive system infection, kidney infection, or bloodstream infection can cause sepsis. As far as its treatment is concerned, your doctor may prescribe you certain antibiotics or give intravenous fluid, initiate or kidney dialysis.

Keep you hand clean: Though sound too basic, doing this can keep you away from various infection. Proper hand hygiene can prevent the transmission of antibiotic-resistant organisms and infections in general.

Proper wound care: Even a small cut can catch infection and lead to sepsis.

Have probiotic-rich foods: Foods like yogurt, kefir, pickles etc. contain probiotics that can help good bacteria flourish in the gut and fight off invading bacteria.

Opt for zinc and selenium rich-foods: Foods like meat, seeds, nuts, eggs, mushrooms etc. have therapeutic role in preventing and treating sepsis.

Boost your immune system: Eat immune boosting foods like oranges, broccoli, ginger, almonds etc. Doing that will help you prevent minor infections that can lead to sepsis.

5 skin problems common in people with diabetes and blood sugar problems

Diabetes is a widespread lifestyle disease that affects millions of people around the world. A diabetic person has to deal with a lot – they have to be extremely careful of their diet, blood sugar levels, weight and lifestyle choices to make sure they do not cause the blood sugar levels to increase in any way.

An increase in blood sugar levels can be quite risky and even life-threatening. Diabetic people deal with the effects of diabetes on an everyday basis. Diabetes can also affect the skin and cause certain skin problems. If you have been recently diagnosed with diabetes, here are the skin problems that you should know about. Also, if you see any of these problems affecting your skin if you do not have diabetes, it may be time to get tested.

General skin problems – itching, bacterial or fungal infections

There are certain general skin conditions that you may get even if you do not have diabetes but diabetic people get them more easily. These include bacterial infections like styles and boils, fungal infections like ringworms, athlete's foot, and also itching that can occur due to poor blood circulation or dry skin.

Acanthosis Nigricans

Acanthosis Nigricans mostly affects people who are extremely overweight. It occurs mostly in the skin folds. It is a skin condition where brown raised areas appear on the skin of the neck, armpits or groin. They may also affect the skin on arms, legs or elbows. Losing weight is a way to reduce the condition. You can also use creams to reduce the spots caused due to this on your skin.

Diabetic dermopathy

A skin condition that looks like dark, scaly patches which are oval or circular in shape, diabetic dermopathy occurs on the front of the legs. Often mistaken as signs of ageing, diabetic dermopathy may not affect both the legs in the same degree. Diabetic dermopathy is pretty harmless and does not need treatment.

Necrobiosis Lipoidica Diabeticorum

The skin condition called necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum is a similar skin condition like the diabetic dermopathy but the patches may be fewer, larger and deeper in this condition. NLD can also be painful and itchy and the patches can also crack open, unlike diabetic dermopathy.

Diabetic blisters

Diabetic blisters or bullosis diabeticorum is a rare condition that affects diabetic people where the skin breaks out in blisters. Blisters caused due to diabetes are mostly large but do not ache or have redness or inflammation. They are mostly harmless.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF GARLIC

Garlic contains allicin, which is a compound with numerous health benefits including antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties. That does not even count the vitamins and minerals found in the nutritious seasoning.Garlic has been used since centuries not only in cooking but also for its medicinal values

 1) Lowers Blood Pressure- Hypertension / high blood pressure,  is a known killer all across the world. Garlic contains polysulfides which are effective in  the widening of the blood vessels and also relaxation of the muscles. This helps blood pressure being lowered within the body and is an effective home remedy if consumed in controlled amounts.

 2) Boosts Immune System- If you get sick a lot, including the common cold or flu, you should add more garlic to your diet. A 12-week study revealed that people who took 2.56 grams of garlic per day or related supplements, not only got sick less times but the length and severity of their cold or flu was less and they had better recovery. Garlic contains the chemical "allicin" which is known to aid health within the body.
.
3)Lowers Bad Cholesterol Levels and prevents heart diseases- If you have high cholesterol, garlic can assist in lowering your total and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Although it does not affect raising the ‘good’ high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol or lowering harmful triglycerides, it does reduce the bad cholesterol. Being about 10 or 15% too high on your cholesterol test can easily be adjusted by upping your garlic intake. LDL cholesterol, also known as bad cholesterol, is controlled by allicin as it improves liver functions. The liver can then break down LDL cholesterol easily and thus also helps in preventing arteriosclerosis. Garlic is also known to prevent blood clots that lead to heart attacks.

4) Anti-parasitic and anti-bacterial properties-Garlic has been known throughout the ages to be an effective antibacterial and anti-parasitic agent. Garlic extracts or small amounts of garlic in your diet can help you build up immunity and also kill infections within your system effectively. It is also known to be very effective against tapeworm infestations within the gut.

5)Improves Brain Function -Free radicals contribute to aging process. Antioxidants from garlic help protect the body from oxidative damage. An increased amount of antioxidants in your diet can boost brain health. Thus may prevent the onset of brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. Protect your cells from harm thanks to eating more garlic.

6) Improve bone health-Garlic is known to be very beneficial for bone health, especially in menopausal women. Women may encounter bone loss during menopause as the production of estrogen is lowered. Garlic encourages estrogen production which can stop bone loss and even protect against bone problems such as osteoarthritis.

7) Detoxes heavy metals- Garlic can actually help protect your body from heavy metal toxicity, which can lead to organ damage. A study showed that garlic consumption in people who were exposed to heavy metals reduced the toxicity levels. In turn, related symptoms such as headaches and high blood pressure also improved. The test was completed on employees from a car battery plant that had high amounts of lead exposure. Over the four-week period, they consumed three doses of garlic every day and when tested, it showed very encouraging results.

8) Wards off fungal infections-Fungal infections can range from athlete’s foot and jock itch to ringworm and candida. Garlic has anti-fungal properties that can fight these infections. All you have to do is apply garlic oil or gel onto the affected area. If you have oral thrush, you can use a garlic paste. Even after the infection clears, you should try to eat raw, fresh garlic, even more, to prevent reoccurring problems in the future.

9) Fights infections-  Other than anti-fungal properties, garlic is known for antiviral and anti-inflammatory uses. Different allergies can cause respiratory issues, but garlic can reduce airway inflammation resulting from allergic rhinitis. Minced garlic might provide quick relief if you have a rash, bug bite, or some other itchy problem. During allergy season, you can take a garlic supplement every day to keep your allergies away.

10) Temporary relief from toothache-  Having an aching tooth, try rubbing garlic on the affected area. If you do not have sensitive gums, it can provide relief. A garlic clove can be crushed or just rub the broken piece of garlic on your tooth and gum. The antibacterial and analgesic properties should soothe the pain temporarily, till you can visit the dentist.

11) Aids digestion- Garlic stimulates your stomach membrane to create more gastric juices, which aids digestion. Your liver also releases toxins from the body thanks to garlic. Garlic can also protect your liver from harm. However, that does not mean you should consume excessive amounts of the smelly spice because it can irritate your tract and lead to heartburn. Overeating garlic can cause bloating, gas, and an upset stomach. It is commonly known that garlic creates bad breath, too. Garlic may act as a blood thinner and interfere with related medications, so better to inform your physician if you're consuming garlic regularly.
