These Pressure Points Will Help Alleviate Allergy Symptoms

Allergies are not a disease, but they do have an adverse effect on the body and bother us no less, as any person who suffers from them can testify. Some people suffer from this phenomenon due to inhalation of certain allergens, while others experience it due to contact with allergens or the ingestion of them.

During the transition seasons, the chances of exposure to these substances increase, so many people experience headaches, weakness, itching, and a host of similar symptoms. These symptoms are usually treated with different medications, but allergy symptoms can also be treated naturally, with a pressure point massage existing for each individual symptom, which you will get to know all about below.

pressure points for allergies
Pressure points for treating respiratory problems
An allergy that affects the airways and causes symptoms such as difficulty breathing, coughing and worse are very dangerous, and it can occur after exposure to the venom of certain insects, with a bee sting allergy being the most common. When you have an allergic reaction, you should quickly seek medical help, but while you wait for medical help to arrive, you can massage the following pressure points to help calm your symptoms.

1. The Elegant Mansion (K-27)

You will find these points on both sides of the chest just below the collarbone next to the sternum. Massaging these two points helps prevent respiratory blockage, as well as treats chest pain, shortness of breath, cough, bronchitis, and anxiety. Press the points with your index finger for 3-4 minutes.

2. Fish Border (Lu-10)

pressure points for allergies
This pressure point is known to help treat breathing difficulties, and no breathing difficulty treatment is complete without massaging this point. It is located in the fleshy part under the thumb, between the wrist and thumb joint. Massaging it reduces chest pain, shortness of breath, and asthma attacks. Press for 3-4 minutes on both hands.

Pressure points to prevent a runny nose
Allergic rhinitis is usually caused by exposure to dust or animal fur and is not a response that endangers the body. However, it is unpleasant and harms the quality of life, but with the help of these 4 pressure points in your facial area, you can get rid of the annoyance in your airways. ( see my next post)

Pressure points to prevent eczema
There are allergic reactions that cause us itchiness and redness, pestering and irritating areas of the skin, which after some time will become scaly. Press on the point with your thumb for 3-4 minutes on both hands.

Pressure points to prevent urticaria
Another allergy symptom that affects the skin is urticaria, which is manifested in the form of a rash. In most cases, the rash disappears after exposure to the allergen h,as ended, but this is not always possible, for example, when living with a dog or a cat. Other factors that can cause urticaria are sensitivity to gluten and lactose and these following pressure points will help you get rid of this annoying rash.

Pressure points to prevent edema
Edema is an allergy phenomenon that is difficult to diagnose, as it often accompanies and exacerbates other allergic reactions. The edema is caused by fluid retention and in Chinese medicine, it is linked to weakness in the spleen and kidney meridians. The following pressure points should restore the condition to normal and prevent the build-up of fluids in different parts of the body.

1. Shining Sea (KID-6)

pressure points for allergies

This point is a powerful one in the treatment of edema and fluid retention in the body, and it shows good results every time it‘s massaged. You will find it on the inside of the heel, just below the ankle. Press it for a minute on both feet.

2. Sea of Qi (CV-6)
pressure points for allergies
Many people use this point as well when treating edema, and it is located at a distance of 2 fingers below the navel. In addition to edema, massaging it helps to get rid of chronic diarrhea, constipation, and gas, and is especially important for women with menstrual problems. Press the point to a depth of about 5 cm gently and gradually, while taking deep breaths, do this for 2 minutes.

7 Signs Of Fatty Liver On Your Skin You Must Not Ignore

Fatty liver happens when fat builds up in the organ causing inflammation that leads to severe health complications. According to doctors, fatty liver is a result of many lifestyle and diet-related issues, and it can also be reversed with the help of certain changes in the same.

Also known as hepatic steatosis, fatty liver happens when fat builds up in your liver. Even though it is normal to have small amounts of fat in your liver too much can lead to many issues, including liver failure which is a life-threatening condition. And so, you must know and understand a few signs that your body gives initially if your liver is having problems. Doctors say a few of these symptoms begin to show in your skin and can be treated.

According to doctors, changes in your face and skin like puffiness, change in colour, and itching, could suggest fatty liver disease – one of the most common chronic liver diseases. While it may be common, the symptoms are often subtle. Over time, you may notice changes in your face that aren’t due to another known cause.

A few signs you would notice are:

Puffiness

Doctors say if you have a fatty liver issue, it can affect the organ's ability to make proteins, which impairs your blood flow and fluid removal. As a result, you may notice your face appears slightly puffier.

 Darker skin

Fatty liver disease also contributes to increased insulin resistance, which means your body cannot use insulin effectively. This results in the buildup of excess insulin in your body that causes a condition called acanthosis nigricans. This condition also leads to skin folds like as on the crease of your neck, to darken.

Rosacea

It is a skin condition that makes it appear red and full of bumps. Doctors say you would notice small red blood vessels or white bumps on your face when you have rosacea. However, it does not mean if you suffer from rosacea, you have fatty liver disease, but the condition can just be a sign of it.

Rashes

Fatty liver disease does not let your body absorb certain nutrients effectively, leading to deficiency. According to studies, zinc deficiency due to the condition causes rashes and dermatitis. It also leads to skin irritation around your mouth with small fluid-filled or solid-appearing bumps.

Itching

Liver disease also causes skin itching, including on your face which happens due to excessive bile salts in your body. It can lead you to scratch the skin surface, which the doctors say usually does not provide any relief and can also make the irritation worse.

Jaundice

Advanced liver disease also causes jaundice – a medical condition that makes your skin and the whites of your eyes appear yellow. Symptoms of jaundice, which occurs when there is an excess of bilirubin, appear in your eyes and face before spreading to the rest of your body.

Redness

The condition also causes redness of skin in patches.

Ways to prevent liver disease

Doctors say a few ways you can prevent liver issues, include:
  • Maintain a moderate weight and manage chronic health conditions like diabetes
  • Limit alcohol consumption
  • Choose unsaturated fats like fish and nuts
  • Eat more whole grains, fruits, and vegetables
  • Always wash fruits and vegetables before eating them

Monkeypox: 5 myths around the infectious disease busted; know the facts

Few viral myths related to monkeypox which everyone should be aware of

After the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency, information--both right and wrong, correct and incorrect-- are doing rounds on social media. It is very important to verify the information and trust only the facts. The growing popularity of social media platforms and the trust that the users have for every information put on these platforms makes it really difficult to track fake news; it is because by the time you see it, it will either be a viral information or it might go viral within the next few minutes.

Here are few viral myths related to monkeypox which everyone should be aware of:

The monkeypox outbreak has spread from African countries

Stigmatizing a particular country or race for the outbreak is ethically wrong.

Now coming to the facts: Monkeypox is declared endemic in several West African countries where it is commonly found. However, it has not spread from those countries this year.

Reported monkeypox cases in 2022 have no travel links to the countries where it has been declared endemic, which makes it a serious concern this time.

Homosexual men are spreading the disease

This is yet another shocking stigma associated with the infection. In a time where we all have battled unitedly against a pandemic, having such understanding is utter disgrace.

With the outbreak of monkeypox, homosexual men have been targeted for spreading the disease.

The fact is though there are reports of transmission of the infection from men to men through sexual contact, the infection is not exclusive to this. Even the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Centre (CDC) has declared monkeypox as not a sexually transmitted disease.

Monkeypox can spread when a healthy person comes in contact with an infected one; intimacy and physical contacts come within this.

Monkeypox is fatal

This myth might have stemmed from the pandemic, the adverse effects of which we have seen recently or might have been put on social media to increase the fear around the infection, just like it was during the initial days of the pandemic.

Monkeypox is rarely fatal. As per the US CDC, over 99% of people who get infected with monkeypox are likely to survive.

The symptoms of this viral infection are painful, though.

There is no vaccine for Monkeypox

While there is no exclusive vaccine for monkeypox, the US CDC says because monkeypox and smallpox viruses are genetically similar, vaccines developed to protect against smallpox viruses may be used to prevent monkeypox infections.

In India, the union government is not planning to procure smallpox vaccines against monkeypox infections for now. Four cases of the infection have been reported so far. “We only have four confirmed cases of monkeypox in India. In the current situation, we are not actively considering vaccination, but we are not completely rejecting that possibility. If the need arises in the future, we will look into our options," a health ministry official told the media.

As per a news report, Adar Poonawalla has said that the Serum Institute of India (SII) is in talks with Novovax to develop mRNA vaccine for monkeypox.

Monkeypox is same as small pox and chickenpox

Though it looks similar to smallpox and chickenpox, monkeypox infection is much different from these two infections. Other than the fact that the symptoms are painful in monkeypox infection, another striking characteristic of this infection is that it causes the lymph nodes to swell.

Monkeypox: Key facts

  • Monkeypox is caused by monkeypox virus, a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus in the family Poxviridae.
  • The virus is an enveloped double-stranded DNA virus that belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family.
  • Though its symptoms are similar to those seen in smallpox, they are clinically different.
  • The animal hosts of monkeypox are rodents and primates. Squirrels are also suspected to be potential hosts of the virus.
  • It can be spread from an infected person to a healthy one through respiratory secretions, skin lesions or contaminated objects
  • The incubation period of the monkeypox virus can range from 5 to 21 days.

Monkeypox symptoms one should know

There are several symptoms typical to monkeypox.

"Rashes and the development of nodes (lymph nodes Enlargement) in several areas of the body are the two main symptoms that set this viral infection apart from others," says Dr.Rajiv Dang, Senior Director and HOD - Internal Medicine and Medical Director, Max Hospital, Gurugram.

On other visible symptoms of the infection, Dr Dang says, "fever, headache, muscle pain, chills, backache, exhaustion and are some other symptoms of this infection."

"Few patients may also develop cough, nausea, and shortness of breath. Though there can be more emerging symptoms of this infection, as of now these symptoms are known to us which have been seen in the 4 cases confirmed in the country which had monkeypox," the expert adds.
