10 Ways to Drastically Reduce Excessive Sweating

Sweating and bad body odor are probably two of the most common problems people suffer from during the summer. Sweating is a protective action our body performs to keep our core temperature lower than the hot environment, but it can have some undesirable side effects. To help you avoid sweat stains, bad body odor, sweaty hands and similar problems, here is a list of 10 things you can do to reduce your sweating.

Avoid spicy, sugary and chemically-processed foods: Spicy foods may be tasty and healthy but they make your body sweat more frequently. The same goes for artificially sweetened food that contains high amounts of fructose syrup. These type of products, and other manufactured pre-made, packaged and frozen foods, are high on chemical toxins that will aggravate sweating.

Boost your deodorant and antiperspirant:
Applying talcum powder or baking soda to your underarms will help soak up moisture and prevent odor. They both have a very mild and pleasant smell that will not collide with anything else you are using. You can also put some powder in your shoes or gloves if you are doing any work that requires them.

Shave hairy areas:
Accumulation of sweat tends to occur around the hairs, in places like your underarms, groin and bearded neck. As a result, bacteria will soon start feeding on them, which will result in an unpleasant odor coming from the toxins discharged by the bacteria. The hairy areas are also less exposed to fresh air and so the sweat and moisture take much longer to dry. This means the body cools slower, and sweats more trying to cool itself. Shaving those areas is one of the most effective natural methods to overcoming excessive sweating.

Wear natural fibers and not nylons or polyesters:
Cotton, silk, hemp and wool are fabrics that enable the skin to “breathe”. They provide ample space around the armpit area which allow for evaporation of moisture and free flow of air. In contrast, synthetic fabrics are made with much tighter weaves that trap heat and make your body sweat more. Another plus of the natural fibers is that they absorb moisture well, which prevents bacteria from feeding on your sweat and causing a stink. While it may result in sweat stains if you are in a very hot environment, the next two tips will help you deal with that.

Choose loose fitting clothes:
If your clothes are too tight then they are depriving your skin from enough air to circulate around it, and absorb all the moisture meant to cool your body. This increases sweating and triggers the sweat glands in your body to produce more since they think the skin is dry. If you know you are going to be hot and sweaty it’s a good idea to open up an extra button on your collar, and wear simple, light clothes.

Wear undershirts:
If you are still suffering from heavy sweating and your shirt is sticking to your armpits and chest, you might want to put on another layer of clothes. It might sound counterintuitive, but wearing more cloths can keep you cooler and less sweaty. You can take any plain wool or cotten shirt, cut the collar to make it less tight, and wear it under your normal outfit.

Use the power of fruits:   lemon
Eating healthy improves all aspects of your life and sweating is no different. You can even use the power and benefits of such fruits as lemons to directly reduce sweating. Cut a lemon in half and gently rub it under your arms until the skin is coated in a thin layer of juice. Let it dry and the citrus will work as a natural deodorant with its acidic juice that can help stop sweat from being produced.

Relax and stay calm:
Sweat is sometimes more related to your state of mind then the temperature of your body. Being in a state of stress and anxiety will instantly trigger your sweat glands. Try your best to stay calm and not to drink or eat anything with caffeine or similar materials, they will convince your nervous system you are stressed and this will of course cause more sweating.

Clean your skin and relax your body with alternative options:
Acupuncture treatments have been known to provide relief for some people with problems of excessive sweating. Other treatments with essential oils can also clean your skin, relax your body and leave a pleasant smell to hide body odor. The most common kinds are rose, lavender and orange oil. Even a simple massage can help free your body from toxins, and help you lose all that unwanted stress.

See a doctor:
Excessive sweating or sweating at unusual times might indicate a deeper, bigger problem. Sweating can be a symptom of various health problems including heart disease, leukemia, menopause, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, tuberculosis and several stress and anxiety related disorders. It's also important to note that certain medications like beta blockers can also cause excessive sweating as side effects and there might be a replacement for them.

Why Do Some People Get Bitten More By Mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes aren’t creatures that any of us are particularly fond of, and what’s more is that they transmit illnesses such as Zika and West Nile virus, as well as having bites itchy enough to make us lose our minds. Some of us are more prone to being bitten than others, but no-one quite seems to know why. Don’t fret, however – all that’s about to change:

Did you know?
• Although there are well over 3,000 species of mosquito found throughout the world today, only about 200 of them actually bite humans.
• Only the females bite
• They proliferate as the weather begins to get warmer and their eggs begin to hatch.
• They like being around bodies of water such as ponds, lakes or even puddles.
• Hot, humid, damp and swamp places are usually full of mosquitoes.

Why are you more attractive to mosquitoes than others?
Mosquitoes have an incredible sense of smell, but rely on color for their vision. Carbon dioxide is highly attractive to them, and if you happen to be on the larger side in terms of your body weight, they could be attracted to you due to the increased volume of the stuff that you exhale relative to a person that weighs less.

Carbon dioxide is also present in high quantities following exercise or after consuming alcohol. This is because your metabolism is boosted, instantly making you a target. However, there’s also a genetic component to whether you get bitten or don’t – natural body odor also comes into play.

Another factor contributing to how much you get bitten is the presence of certain scents on the surface of the skin. Lactic acid, uric acid and bacteria are loved by mosquitoes.
If you don’t get bitten much, it could mean that you’re one of the lucky ones who give off a natural scent that actually repels mosquitoes. Last but not least, the color of your clothing can also have a bearing on whether you get bitten or not. Colors that blend in with light will keep them away, however dark colors or red will attract their attention.

How do I keep mosquitoes away?
• Get rid of stagnant water
• Keep any lawns or patches of grass at home trimmed short
• Don’t go too long in between showers or baths
• Wear thick clothing and keep colors light
• Use bug or mosquito repellent
• Stay indoors at sunrise or sunset
• Try citronella and peppermint products to combat them

How do I treat mosquitoes at home?
The itching caused by mosquito bites is maddening, but you can try ice to reduce swelling and relieve some of the itchiness. Tea tree oil and organic apple cider vinegar are also great ideas, because they both help with redness, swelling and itching.

Essential oils are also excellent for getting rid of itchiness. Try lavender, eucalyptus or peppermint mixed with a carrier oil to get rid of the itching in a flash. You can even try bathing in oatmeal, as well as applying aloe vera, honey or baking soda paste.

Now you’re prepared to beat the pesky bloodsuckers and keep them from ruining your outdoor fun!

9 Signs that Indicate Your Body Is Not Properly Digesting Meat

Most people find it hard to resist a juicy steak or hamburger. Yet, while meat contains essential nutrients, it also contains a number of natural toxins, saturated fat, and elements that make it difficult for us to digest. Consuming too much meat can lead to serious health consequences including the risk of diabetes and heart disease, or possibly, cancer. These signs indicate that your digestive system isn't processing meat well. How many of these (if any) have you been experiencing?

1. Constipation
Our digestive systems are based on our genetics and dietary habits. Depending on the cut of the meat, some can be quite high in fat. Fats take time to be digested by the body and as a result, they may cause indigestion the next day. Constipation can be a result of the high iron that is found in meat. In addition, red meat is also low in fiber - this is necessary for regular bowel movement. One other reason to reduce your meat intake? Some studies have revealed that eating too much red meat can increase the chances of developing bowel cancer. So, reduce your red meat intake to 100-200g just twice a week and be sure to serve it with lots of vegetables and grains.
2. Constantly feeling hungry
If you feel hungry often, even if you've just finished a meal, it may indicate that you have too much protein. When you don't have enough carbs, your body's blood sugar goes down. Your body also won't produce the mood-regulating serotonin, the chemical that makes you feel hungry. So, if you notice that you're hungry, as opposed to opting for a sandwich for lunch, try a snack like hummus with wholegrain crackers. Also, try to cut out meat for several days and notice if you feel better and fresher.

3. Dark circles under the eyes
Dark circles are not always an indication of lack of sleep or tiredness. Not digesting meat properly can be a cause, particularly if you get dark circles often, especially after eating meat. This is a clear sign that the meat was not properly digested. But how are dark circles caused by the consumption of meat? The compromised gut lining allows meat particles to pass through the gut wall and into the bloodstream, undigested. The body would regard this as a 'foreign' invader. As a result, the body will try to produce certain antibodies to eliminate the foreign substance, causing dark circles under the eyes. This symptom is often overlooked by health professionals.
4. High blood pressure
High blood pressure can be a sign that it is time to cut back on meat. The processed and cooked meats contain a high level of sodium because they are normally cured, seasoned and preserved with salt. Reduce eating chicken skin and red meat significantly as they are high in saturated fat and can lead to worsening hypertension and even to developing coronary heart disease.
5. Bad breath and body odor
Bad breath and body odor indicate another possible sign that your body is not digesting meat properly. If meat is not digested well, a smelly odor goes back out of the digestive system, making its way into your skin and breath. So, if you continue to experience these unpleasant issues, try taking digestive enzymes to assist in breaking the meat down so it doesn't accumulate in your gut.
6. Weakened immune system
If your body does not digest meat properly, you may notice you get sick more often than usual. The natural sugar found in red meat can affect your immune system. This sugar is normally produced by carnivorous animals which allows them to sustain their meat diets. But our bodies do not produce it and that is why the body may treat it as a foreign substance setting off a toxic immune reaction.
7. Fatigue
If you feel sluggish or tired after eating meat, it means that your body isn't digesting the meat properly and it is stuck in your bowels. With the meat trapped there, it diverts all your energy to your digestive system.
8. Nausea
This is a common symptom of not being able to digest meat well. It can be a reaction to certain bacteria found in meat. Some pregnant women find that eating meat may cause them to feel extremely nauseous. It could simply mean that your body is rejecting meat.
9. Bloating
Meat is one of the most difficult foods for the human body to digest because the protein found in meat is hard for us to break down and this can cause bloating. Fatty foods like meat can make your stomach empty slower, which causes bloating or discomfort. Improper digestion of meat can consequently, lead to the accumulation of toxins in the body.

10 benefits of baking soda for your hair, skin and body.

1. Fights Acne and Pimples

To get rid of acne or pimples, you do not need harsh chemicals. Baking soda will do the work easily. The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of this kitchen staple helps treat the cause as well as reduce the symptoms of acne and other breakouts.
In addition, it helps balance the skin’s pH, which helps reduce the occurrence of skin breakouts.
  1. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a little water to make a paste.
  2. Apply it on the affected skin for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Rinse it off with cold water.
  4. Repeat once daily for 2 or 3 days, then reduce the frequency to 1 or 2 times a week.

2. Brightens Yellow Teeth

Baking soda is excellent for making your pearly whites shine. It works as a mild abrasive to remove yellow stains from your teeth. In addition, it helps remove plaque by neutralizing acids produced by the bacteria.
  • You can simply put a little baking soda on your toothbrush along with your regular toothpaste. Brush your teeth as usual for 2 minutes. Do it once daily for a few days.
  • Alternatively, prepare a homemade teeth whitener with 4 tablespoons of turmeric root powder, 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 3 tablespoons of extra-virgin coconut oil. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Use a small amount of this paste to brush your teeth once daily for a few days.
Note: Avoid excess use of baking soda as it can strip your teeth of its natural, protective enamel.

3. Relieves Sunburn and Sunburn Blister

During the summer, keep a box of baking soda handy. Due to its alkaline nature, baking soda has a soothing affect on sunburned skin, which helps relieve the itching and burning sensations. It also has mild antiseptic and drying properties that help dry out sunburn blisters quickly.
  • Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a cup of cold water. Soak a clean washcloth in this solution, wring out the excess water and apply it as a cool compress on the affected area for 5 to 10 minutes. Repeat 2 or 3 times a day until you get relief.
  • Alternatively, add ½ cup of baking soda to a bathtub filled with water. Stir well and soak yourself in this water for 10 to 15 minutes. After getting out of the bath, pat dry or allow your body to air dry. Do this once daily for a few days.

4. Improves Skin Complexion

Uneven skin tone is a major problem for many. If you want a brighter and even skin tone, baking soda is an easy and inexpensive solution.
It is a good exfoliating agent that helps remove dead cells. In addition, it balances pH level of the skin, which is very important to maintain even and clear skin.
  • Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of baking soda with enough filtered water or rose water to make a paste. Apply the paste on your face. Allow it to sit for 1 minute, then gently rub it off using only the tips of your fingers. Finally, wash with lukewarm water and pat dry to reveal brighter skin. Follow this remedy 1 or 2 times a week only. Make sure to moisturize your skin after using baking soda.
  • Alternatively, mix 1 tablespoon each of baking soda and fresh lemon juice along with 4 or 5 drops of extra-virgin olive oil. Apply this paste on your face. Leave it on for 5 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water. Repeat 2 or 3 times a week.

5. Treats Stained or Yellow Nails

Stained nails can be unsightly, but baking soda can whiten your nails so you do not have to hide them in your pockets or gloves. Its bleaching and exfoliating properties help remove stains.
  • Put ½ cup of water, 1 teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 1 tablespoon of baking soda in a small bowl. Stir well, until the baking soda dissolves. Dip your nails into the solution for 2 to 3 minutes. Repeat once every two weeks.
  • Alternatively, mix 2½ tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide to make a paste. Use a cotton swab to apply it on your nails. Wait 2 minutes before rinsing your nails with warm water. For best results, repeat once every 2 months.

6. Treats Body Odor

Baking soda is one of the best natural deodorizers that help treat mild to severe body odor. It helps absorb moisture and sweat from the skin, thereby reducing body odor. Being an antibacterial agent, it also helps kill bacteria that give rise to body odor.
  • Combine ⅛ teaspoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of water and a few drops of any essential oil. Use a cotton ball to rub it on your underarms or areas where you sweat excessively. Use it regularly to fight body odor.
  • Alternatively, thoroughly mix equal amounts of baking soda and cornstarch. Dust this powder onto your dry underarms to prevent sweating as well as bad odor.

7. Treats Smelly and Oily Hair

Smelly hair is a very embarrassing problem, and people with oily hair are more prone to this condition. Oily hair picks up environmental pollutants and strong smells more readily.
Baking soda can easily fix this problem because it helps reduce oiliness and also neutralizes foul odors. In addition, its alkaline nature balances the pH level of the scalp to keep it clean and healthy.
  • Mix 1 part baking soda with 3 parts water. Apply it on your damp hair, wait 5 minutes and then rinse your hair. Repeat once or twice a month.
  • Alternatively, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to your regular shampoo bottle and use it to wash your hair 1 or 2 times a week.
  • You can also use baking soda as a dry shampoo. Thoroughly mix equal amounts of baking soda and cornstarch. Sprinkle a small amount at the roots of your hair and tousle your hair around. Brush your hair thoroughly with a good quality brush and you will be impressed with the result.

8. Removes Dandruff

Dandruff is difficult to get rid of, especially during the winter months, but not impossible. With proper and regular hair care, you can eliminate dandruff easily.
Baking soda can help banish those annoying white flakes on your scalp and hair. It clarifies the scalp and helps clear off flakes. In addition, as baking soda is alkaline, it helps bring the pH balance of the scalp to a healthy equilibrium.
  • Rub 1 tablespoon of baking soda onto your wet hair and scalp. Wait for a minute, then rinse it out thoroughly with water. Do this once a week only.
  • Alternatively, mix freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon with 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Apply it to your scalp, allow it to sit for 2 to 3 minutes and then rinse your hair with water. Follow this remedy once a week only to keep your scalp free from dandruff.

9. Heals Skin Rashes and Itchiness

Skin rashes and itchiness can cause a lot of discomfort. You can treat these problems with baking soda. It has a soothing effect on the skin due to its anti-inflammatory properties that also help reduce inflammation, itching and swelling.
  • For localized itching, mix 1 part water with 3 parts baking soda. Apply the paste on the affected area. Allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, then rinse it off with cool water. Use this treatment once daily, until the condition improves.
  • If you have itching all over your body, add 1 cup of baking soda to a bathtub of cool water and soak in it for 10 minutes a day.
Note: Avoid using baking soda if the skin is broken or too irritated by constant scratching.

10. Treats Nail Fungus

Nail fungus can make your nails look ugly and cause many discomforts. It is an infection that occurs when fungi start growing under the nails. This results in crusty, thick, discolored and distorted nails. The alkaline nature of baking soda prevents the growth of fungi.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda in 1 cup of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Soak the affected toenails or fingernails in this solution for 5 minutes. Pat dry your nails with paper towels. Do this twice a day.
  • Alternatively, make a paste of 1 to 2 teaspoons of baking soda mixed with warm water. Apply it on your affected nails for a few minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. Repeat once daily.
