6 fruits we should eat daily to naturally detox liver and kidney

The body is wise. It knows how to clean itself, heal, and stay in balance. But sometimes, due to some external factors like, processed food, stress, pollution can overload this natural system, especially when it comes to vital organs like the liver and kidneys. These silent workers filter, purify, and detox the body every moment. Giving them daily support through nature’s own gifts—fruits—can make a world of difference.
Here’s a list of six fruits that go beyond just “being healthy.” These fruits are known to support liver and kidney health in unique, not-so-obvious ways.

Jamun

 Jamun

Its antioxidant-rich pulp and seeds also help reduce oxidative stress on the kidneys. A study suggested that jamun extract can help preserve kidney tissues from damage due to high blood sugar levels and inflammation. What makes jamun even more special is its ability to enhance overall metabolic balance, indirectly reducing the load on the liver as well.

Adding a handful of jamuns—when in season—offers much more than just a tangy treat.

Pomegranate

 Pomegranate

This fruit is actually a quiet warrior when it comes to detoxing the kidneys. A review highlighted the fruit’s potential to reduce levels of toxins in patients undergoing dialysis. Its high levels of antioxidants, especially punicalagin, help lower inflammation and prevent kidney stone formation.

Even a small bowl of pomegranate pearls each day can protect kidney function more effectively than most realize.

Papaya

 Papaya

What often goes unnoticed is papaya's strong link to liver health. It contains papain, an enzyme that supports the breakdown of dietary proteins—easing the liver’s metabolic burden. Moreover, papaya is rich in flavonoids and Vitamin C, both of which play a key role in reducing fatty liver risk.

Several traditional systems, including Ayurveda, recommend raw papaya or its juice for mild liver detox.

Cranberries

 Cranberries

They do more than just soothe infections. Cranberries contain proanthocyanidins, which not only prevent bacteria from clinging to the urinary lining but also support kidney health by keeping the entire urinary system functioning well. Cranberry consumption could reduce the risk of chronic kidney disease progression in vulnerable individuals.

Drinking a small portion of unsweetened cranberry juice—or adding dried cranberries to breakfast—can provide daily protection.

Mosambi (sweet lime)

Mosambi (sweet lime)

It’s not just a cold remedy fruit. Mosambi is gentle on the stomach and contains limonoids—compounds that stimulate liver enzymes to remove toxins. This kind of mild and sustained liver stimulation makes it an excellent daily choice, especially for those who experience sluggish digestion or occasional bloating.

The juice, when consumed without sugar or salt, is both refreshing and revitalising to liver cells.

Watermelon

More than just a summer snack, watermelon acts as a diuretic, meaning it increases urine flow without stressing the kidneys. This helps flush out toxins gently. The fruit also contains citrulline, which improves blood flow and reduces ammonia in the body, thus supporting both the liver and kidney functions.

Fresh slices or juice—without added sugar—work wonders during hotter days when dehydration quietly stresses the kidneys.

What is the role of liver in our body?

What is the role of liver in our body? this is how our liver looks

The liver is an essential and multifaceted organ in the human body, performing hundreds of vital functions. It acts as the body's primary detoxification center, filtering blood to remove toxins, waste products, drugs, and other harmful substances, which are then excreted through bile or urine. Beyond detoxification, the liver plays a critical role in metabolism by processing nutrients from food, converting glucose into glycogen for energy storage, synthesizing proteins for blood plasma and clotting, and producing bile necessary for fat digestion. It also stores essential vitamins (A, D, E, K, B12) and minerals like iron and copper, and contributes to the immune system by removing bacteria and viruses from the bloodstream.

Yoga poses that will help detox lungs and kidneys

Certain yoga poses, combined with specific breathing techniques, can support the detoxification processes of both the lungs and kidneys. Poses that encourage deep breathing and chest expansion, such as Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana), Bow Pose (Dhanurasana), and Fish Pose (Matsyasana), help increase lung capacity, clear airways, and improve oxygen exchange, aiding in the expulsion of toxins. For kidney health, poses that gently compress and stimulate the abdominal organs, like Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana), Half Lord of the Fishes Pose (Ardha Matsyendrasana), and Bridge Pose (Setu Bandhasana), can enhance blood circulation to the kidneys, promoting their filtering function and assisting in waste removal. Additionally, pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) such as Kapalabhati (Skull Shining Breath) and Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostril Breathing) are particularly beneficial for improving lung efficiency and reducing stress, which indirectly supports overall organ health and detoxification.

Health Benefits Of Beetroot Juice

Beetroot juice benefits are immense, besides tasting naturally sweet. With a boatload of vitamins and minerals, this is the best way to have this vegetable. It is better to have raw beetroot juice instead of the cooked version of this vegetable because beets lose much of its nutrition when cooked.
Beetroot juice benefits are even considered by nutritionists and dieticians. This brightly red coloured beauty is a power pack of nutrients, which include
•    Iron
•    Fibre
•    Calcium
•    Folic acid
•    Potassium
•    Magnesium
•    Amino acids
•    Phosphorous
•    Natural Sugars
•    Vitamin A, B and C.
Benefits of drinking beetroot juice

Beetroot is gaining popularity and is supposedly the new superfood around the corner. This is considered as one of the healthiest vegetables because it offers the following health benefits.

Fights cancer

Beetroot juice contains betacyanin; the reddish tint of beetroot is due to this pigment This anti-cancerous pigment eliminates the toxins which get into the body through chemotherapy. Betacyanin can also slow down the growth of tumour in the body. People suffering from breast, lung, skin and stomach cancer are known to get benefit from this natural drink.

Healthy and glowing skin

Drinking beetroot juice should be the first thing in the morning to flush out all the impurities and toxins which are residing within it. For this reason, beetroot juice benefits for skin are immense. This purified drink clears the bowel fast and thus removes any harmful content stuck in the colon. According to a common saying, beetroot juice gives a rosy and supple glow to the skin. Vitamin A, C and calcium prevents the skin from turning dull and flaky. The anti-inflammatory properties of beetroot juice can also prevent boils, pimples and acne.

Slows down the ageing process

This is a surprising health benefit of beetroot juice. The antioxidants present in the juice fights the free radicals and oxidation of the cells. This process helps in removing wrinkles, fights against skin problems and fine lines. A combination of carrot and beetroot even can protect the skin against harmful ultraviolet rays, which in turn assures a young and glowing face for years.

Good for hair care

The potassium and Vitamin C present in beetroot juice improves the structural integrity of the hair. Drinking beetroot juice daily repairs the hair follicles and prevents the breakage. Another beauty tip associated with beetroot juice is its natural colouring property. If beetroot juice is mixed with henna, the hair gets a natural reddish tint or auburn texture; this solution keeps the hair soft and safe from the harsh chemical hair colours.

Fights anaemia

Traditionally it has been believed that red-coloured vegetables are good for the eyes. Beetroot juice enhances the growth of red blood cells which in turn increases the amount of oxygen in the body. This iron-rich drink is thus perfect for disease caused due to iron deficiency, that is, anaemia. Reduced iron levels also make people weak and exhausted; regular consumption of beetroot juice relieves the body from these issues as well. Dieticians suggested a mix of amla and beetroot juice to increase the stock of iron in the body, which will, in turn, increase the haemoglobin in the body.

Improves eyesight

Beets are considered one of the top-rated veggies when it comes to improving eyesight. Vitamin B and C, lutein, dietary nutrients and zeaxanthin available in the beetroot are known to reduce eye floaters. Beetroot juice benefits the ocular and retinal functionality as well. A drink made with carrot, apple and beetroot boosts eye health.

Manage hypertension

Beetroots are concentrated in nitrates; this element is known to control the blood pressure levels. According to a study, both male and female participants of the research observed a considerable decrease in the systolic blood pressure 6 hours after having the beetroot juice. This earthy purple drink contains nitrates which are great for people with high blood pressure; nitrates are converted into nitrites and ultimately into nitric oxide. This gaseous chemical expands the blood vessels and normalizes the blood circulation.

Leads to weight loss

Beetroots are equipped with natural sugar. This element breaks the sugar into carbohydrates and transforms the same into energy. For this reason, beetroot juice can be a perfect energy drink to be consumed before the morning workout session; this helps to increase the stamina levels, moves the muscles and cuts down the additional fat.

Improves digestive power

If there is a sluggish feeling in the stomach, a glass of beetroot juice promotes digestion. Beetroot juice with pulp is filled with fibre. This regulates the digestive process and offers relief from constipation. The betaine present in beetroot juice increase the acid levels in the stomach which in turn improves digestion.

Improves cardiac health

Beetroot juice makes the blood vessels flexible; this reduces the workload of the heart to carry on the daily activities. The juice lowers the risk of stiffening of the lower heart chambers and thus prevents heart attacks. This drink is suggested to elderly people to make their heart active and reduce the symptoms of heart failure.

When to drink beetroot juice?

To get the best benefits of beetroot juice, once should have it every day. To generate proper blood flow to the brain and muscles, it is best to drink this juice right before the workout.

Why you should eat 2 bananas daily

Bananas have “health” written all over them. This exotic food might as well be deemed as a health revolution, considering the plethora of nutrients it has. Regularly consuming bananas can be extremely beneficial for your health. It’s rich in natural sugars, sucrose and fructose.

They’re highly consumed in various parts of the world. In South India, bananas are a key ingredient in most of the dishes. They’re also popular in the United States, and are consumed more than apples and oranges combined. Initially, when they’re unripe, they’re green in colour and don’t have spots on their skin. Upon ripening, they get covered in spots and are actually healthier this way.

Ripe bananas are rich in TNF (Tumour Necrosis Factor), which can help combat cancer by fighting abnormal body cells. TNF also facilitates communication between body cells and the immune system, which in turn supports cell nutrition. Further, TNF can stop growth of tumour cells by inducing apoptosis (cell death). Bananas also contain anti-oxidants which help in boosting immunity and improve blood cells count.

So, according to experts, bananas with a lot of spots on their skin have the optimum health benefits. They’ll also give a lot of energy and that’s what makes them valuable. Apart from their ability to prevent cancer, they also have other health benefits:

Treat constipation: Bananas are rich in fibre and lead to regular bowel movement.

Lower blood pressure: Bananas lower sodium levels and promote heart health.

Treat ulcers: Their soft texture prevents irritation in the stomach.

Regulate body temperature: They help in controlling body temperature when you have fever.

Fight depression: Tryptophan, a compound found in bananas, helps in relaxing your mind.

Eating one or two bananas before your workout session can give you energy to for about an hour. In addition, they also boost your endurance because they’re rich in vitamins and minerals. They are also excellent sources of potassium and can thus help in preventing muscle cramps. So, now you know, that easy-to-eat fruits often go unappreciated for the numerous health benefits they have.

This natural sugar supplement could help fight cancer

Mannose-- a nutritional supplement -- found naturally in fruits such as cranberries can aid in slowing the growth of tumours and improve cancer treatment, a study has shown.

The findings showed that mannose enhanced the effects of chemotherapy in mice with multiple types of cancer including leukaemia, osteosarcoma, ovarian and bowel cancer. It slowed tumor growth, reduced the size of tumours and even helped increase the lifespan of some mice.

Tumours use more glucose than normal, healthy tissues. However, it is very hard to control the amount of glucose in your body through diet alone. Researchers found that mannose can interfere with glucose to reduce how much sugar cancer cells can use.

"Tumours need a lot of glucose to grow, so limiting the amount they can use should slow cancer progression. The problem is that normal tissues need glucose as well, so we can't completely remove it from the body.

"In our study, we found a dosage of mannose that could block enough glucose to slow tumour growth in mice, but not so much that normal tissues were affected," said the lead author of the study.

"This is early research, but it is hoped that finding this perfect balance means that, in the future, mannose could be given to cancer patients to enhance chemotherapy without damaging their overall health," he added.

For the study, the team first examined how mice with pancreatic, lung or skin cancer responded when mannose was added to their drinking water and given as an oral treatment. They found that adding the supplement significantly slowed the growth of tumours and did not cause any obvious side effects.

To test how mannose could also affect cancer treatment, mice were treated with cisplatin and doxorubicin -- two of the most widely used chemotherapy drugs.

Some cells responded well to the treatment while others did not. It was also found that the presence of an enzyme that breaks down mannose in cells was a good indicator of how effective treatment was.
