If You Want to Be Well, Here's What You Need to Do

Many think that wellness is the same as health. That's not exactly the case. Wellness is what comes after good health. Good health makes you feel normal, wellness makes you feel better than you were, both physically and mentally. This doctor had something to say on the subject, and it's well worth listening to...

Wise words about your outlook on life-

1) Forget each kindness that you do, as soon as you've done it.

2) Forget the praise that falls to you, the moment you've won it.

3) Forget the slander that you hear, before you can repeat it.

4) Forget each slight, each spite, each sneer, wherever you may meet it.

5) Remember every kindness done to you, whatever its  measure.

6) Remember praise by others won, and pass it on with pleasure.

7)Remember every promise made, and keep it to the letter.

8) Remember those who lend you aid, and be a grateful debtor.

9) Remember all the happiness , that comes your way in living.

10) Forget each worry and distress, be hopeful and forgiving.

11) Remember good, remember truth, remember Heaven's above you.

12) And you'll find, through age and youth, true joy and hearts to love you.

13) Allow yourself to share the truth, if it's wise, just to spread it out.

14) So you too my friend, can value it, whenever you're in doubt.

A beautiful story for those living on hope

"A certain gentleman walked into a hotel and after perusing through the menu ordered for some food. After about 20 mins another group of gentlemen walked in and ordered for theirs.
To his dismay, the first gentleman saw them get served first. He watched as they began to eat and laugh heartily. He even overheard one of them brag about how he knew everyone at that hotel and how things moved fast for him there. He felt he was being mocked. He contemplated leaving. But he had waited so long.

Unable to take it anymore, he called the waiter and spoke sadly of how unfair things were.

The waiter calmly told him, yours is a special order sir, being prepared by the chief chef himself. Their orders were prepared hurriedly by interns because the top chefs are busy with yours. That's why they came first. Please have some juice as you wait.

Unknown to him the owner of the hotel (who happened to be an old long lost friend of his) had seen him coming and wanted to surprise him and had made changes to his simple meal to make it a five star meal.

He calmed down and waited. Shortly after, his meal was served by 6 waiters and he was waited on hand and foot and being made very comfortable.

The party at the other table were shocked. They couldn't stop staring. Suddenly they were the ones murmuring, asking why they didn't get that kind of service and meal.

So it is with life. Some people are ahead of you and eating now, laughing at you about how they know people and how they're blessed with money and how they're enjoying life because of it.

You have been waiting long wondering why its taking so long to get your breakthrough, enduring mockery and humiliation. Maybe you have contemplated suicide, gone through depression or suffered severe mental anxiety.

Do not worry. The owner of the world has seen you. And doesn't want to give you simple meals like those laughing at you. You've been waiting for long because yours is a special meal and  takes time. And only chief chefs make those.

Take heart today. Wait for your meal and relax.

Calm down

Dedicated to all those who are living on hope.

Isn't it true that hope, belief and trust is what keeps us going. Good luck to all out there, wishing you all good health and loads of happiness. Another lesson from this short story, never make fun of anyone.

Arthritis- Lifestyle Changes That Will Help You Improve It!

Arthritis is a common musculoskeletal condition that affects elderly men and women. Joint pain, stiffness and inflammation are the most common symptoms of this condition. This pain can get so bad as to affect your movement and leave you unable to do simple things like walking up stairs or even simply turning a doorknob.

People living with arthritis are often dismayed by how much the disease steals from their lives. If you have arthritis, physical limitations caused by  chronic pain chronic fatigue, stress and more can narrow your world and interrupt living a "normal life."

With arthritis, energy is consumed just trying to accomplish ordinary tasks and usual daily activities. Your focus may be limited to just "getting through the day." Arthritis starts to take control of your life, rather than you taking control of the disease. How can you better manage your illness? What modifications can you make to your lifestyle to make living with arthritis easier? What actions can you take to gain and maintain control over the limitations imposed by arthritis?

1 - Stay Positive

Arthritis is an unpredictable disease, as is the future. Accepting new realities and redefining life within the limitations imposed by disease is important for people with arthritis. A positive attitude can help you manage life with chronic arthritis.

2 - Trust Your Doctor-

Doctors play an essential role in the treatment of arthritis. Choosing a doctor is one of the most critical decisions you make when it comes to your condition. It is imperative that your needs are being met. Find a compassionate, communicative doctor you can trust.

3 - Accept Your Situation
Don't fight reality. Don't deny that you have arthritis, nor underestimate its impact. Once you accept that you have a chronic illness and that it is a part of your life for the rest of your life, the decisions you make will be better for you and will ultimately improve your life. You must internalize the acceptance -- feel it, don't just say it.

 4 - Set Realistic Goals
Set realistic goals for yourself. Through reflection and contemplation, you can assess what you are not happy with and work to change those circumstances. Be sensitive to your innermost feelings. You can focus and begin to make necessary changes and adjustments in your life.

5 - Be Informed

If you have been diagnosed with arthritis, it's important to learn all that you can about the disease. The importance of knowledge and understanding your health condition cannot be overstated.

6 - Protect Your Joints
Joint protection can reduce stress on arthritic joints and decrease pain. There are several joint protective principles which, if followed, will help to conserve energy and preserve joint function.

7 - Manage Your Medications

When your doctor hands you a new prescription, it becomes your responsibility to know what the medication is for, how to take it, and what possible side effects might occur. Medication errors have many causes, but usually, have one thing in common -- they could have been prevented.

8 - Keep Active

The benefits of exercise, as part of a treatment program for managing arthritis, are well-known and documented. Despite the known benefits, many people with arthritis avoid exercising regularly.

9 - Watch Your Weight

Being overweight, even moderately, impacts weight-bearing joints and can increase joint pain. As you walk, your hips, knees, and ankles bear three to five times your total body weight. For every pound you're overweight, the equivalent of three to five pounds worth of added pressure is added to each knee as you walk. The flip side of that is good news: losing just 10 pounds causes 30 to 50 pounds of extra stress to be relieved from the joints.

10 - Seek Support

Arthritis not only affects people who have the disease, it impacts the people around them, especially family and friends. People living with arthritis and those who have loved ones with the disease can gain insight and draw inspiration from others facing similar challenges.

11.- Assistive devices-
Arthritis can make a person knock kneed or bow legged. Wearing unloading braces, shoe inserts or walking with a cane or shoe inserts can help redistribute your weight and take the pressure of your joints. It can also help relieve pain and prevent arthritis from worsening.

12-Eating right-
Some types of food can worsen arthritic symptoms. This includes processed foods like white flour and  sugar yeast, chemical additives, gluten, hydrogenated and trans fats, milk products, caffeine, alcohol and tobacco. Hence, avoid consuming these foods and instead have a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grain. You could also try alkaline foods like green leafy vegetables, wheatgrass and aloe vera.

13-Massage therapy-
A massage not only de-stresses the body, but can also relieve muscle and joint pain by improving blood circulation. Massages also help break up muscular waste deposits and increase the amount of oxygen circulated in the body. This helps transport nutrients to tissues and carries toxins away. Ideally, an arthritic patient should have a massage 2-3 times a week in the beginning and at least twice a month once the condition has stabilised.

14-Supplements-
Along with eating healthy, including a few supplements in your daily diet can also help alleviate arthritic symptoms. When it comes to rheumatic arthritis; the anti-inflammatory properties of vitamin C help fight arthritis by promoting bone and cartilage growth and reducing infection. Fish oil is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids that help reduce inflammation, vitamin D is another supplement that helps relieve arthritic pain by helping the bones absorb calcium faster and preventing further loss of cartilage.

Knowing your doctor may help reduce the injection pain!

Are you scared of getting a injection? Well, a new study suggests that knowing your doctor may help reduce your pain.

Elizabeth Losin, assistant professor at the University of Miami in the US said, "When someone believes that something is going to help relieve their pain, their brain naturally releases pain- relieving chemicals."

Losin said, ''Our hypothesis, based on what we are seeing, is that trusting and feeling similar to the doctor who is performing the painful procedure is creating that same kind of placebo pain relief."

For the findings, participants were given a questionnaire that asked about their political ideology, religious and gender role beliefs and practises.

They were then separated into two groups and told that they were assigned to the groups based on their questionnaire answers.

Researchers said that the goal was to make people from the same group think they had something in common, which might then manifest itself as more positive feelings, like trust, towards participants playing the role of the doctor or the patient from their own group.

The participants who played the patients interacted with one doctor from their own group and one doctor from the other group, both of their own gender.

During the simulated clinical interaction, the doctors performed a pain-induction procedure on the patients by applying heat to their inner forearm, meant to simulate a painful medical procedure like a shot.

After the interaction, both the doctors and the patients were asked how similar they felt to each other and how much they trusted each other.

Researchers found that the more patients reported trusting their doctor and feeling similar to them, the less pain they reported feeling from the heat on their arm.

The study also suggests that participants who experience higher levels of anxiety on a day-to-day basis experienced greater reductions in pain from feeling close to their doctor.

The findings was published in the Journal of Pain.
