Doctors Remove Unborn Baby Girl From Mother's Womb For Surgery & Then Put It Back In

A mom-to-be underwent a surgery in which surgeons removed her unborn baby from her womb and then put it back inside. In December 2018, 26-year-old mother from UK was 4 and a half months when she was told that her baby had ‘Spina Bifida’.

She in a Facebook post said, ‘We had to do it. We also had to meet some seriously strict criteria. Me and baby went through amniocentesis and MRI and relentless scans. We got approved on the 17th December we planned for surgery. Our lives were such a roller-coaster for the next few weeks.’

On January 8, the mother and her unborn daughter underwent the surgery and she became the fourth woman in the country to undergo this surgery. Obviously, the surgery comes with a lot of risks but fortunately for the mother and daughter duo, the operation was successful.

After the surgery, she said in her post, 'We were a success. Her lesion was small, and she smashed surgery like you wouldn't believe. I'm fragile and sore but as long as she is doing fine that's all we care about'.

'Her brain is looking good and her ventricles are normal which luckily hers always have been. They took her out of my womb and popped her straight back in to stay there as long as she can'.

'I feel our baby kick me day in and day out. That's never changed. She's extra special. She's part of history and our daughter has shown just how much she deserves this life,' she added.

Spina bifida is a condition in which the spinal canal does not close completely in the womb, leaving the spinal cord exposed from an early stage in pregnancy.

To raise awareness about the disease, she is now raising money for SHINE (Spina bifida Hydrocephalus Information Networking and Equality) charity.

Acetaminophen Puts Fetuses at Risk of Autism

Expecting women experience, to say the least, a difficult time during pregnancy, with pain in their legs, back, and stomach being part of the symptoms that are common during this period. To treat these symptoms, doctors have recommended a simple, common painkiller that we all know. It’s the world's best-selling drug called Acetaminophen, which is used to treat pain and reduce fever, but in a recent study, it was found that taking it leads to a significant risk for fetuses.

The researchers found that there is a link between regular acetaminophen intake during pregnancy and the development of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism and ADHD, and it is important that you familiarize yourself with the findings of the study so that you know how to protect yourself from this danger and at the same time reduce the different fears that have arisen regarding its findings.

Before we begin discussing the study...

it's important to know a little more about acetaminophen. This type of drug is an external analgesic used to relieve pain and reduce fever. There are more than 600 medicines that contain acetaminophen as an active ingredient including both “over the counter drugs” (OTC) and prescription medications.

Common OTC drugs containing acetaminophen:

  • Actifed®

  • Plus®Alka-Seltzer
  • ®Cepacol
  • Contac®
  • ®Coricidin
  • ®Dayquil
  • ®Dimetapp
  • Dristan®
  • Excedrin®
  • ®Feverall
  • Formula 44®
  • Goody’s® Powders
  • ®Liquiprin
  • Midol®
  • ®Mucinex
  • Nyquil®
  • ®Panadol
  • Robitussin®
  • Saint Joseph® Aspirin-Free
  • Singlet®
  • ®Sinutab
  • ®Sudafed
  • Theraflu®
  • ®Triaminic
  • TYLENOL® Brand Products
  • Vanquish®
  • Vicks®
  • *And generic brands

    Common prescription medications containing acetaminophen:

  • ®Butalbital
  • ®Endocet
  • ®Fioricet
  • ®Hycotab
  • ®Hydrocet
  • Bitartrate®Hydrocodone
  • ®Lortab
  • ®MIDRIN
  • NORCO®
  • ®Oxycodone
  • Percocet®
  • ®Phenaphen
  • ™ROXICET
  • ®Sedapap
  • ®Tapanol
  • Tramadol
  • TYLENOL® with Codeine
  • ®Tylox
  • ®Ultracet
  • ®Vicodin
  • ®Zydone
  • *And generic brands
Most of these drugs can be purchased without a prescription, but they are known to have harmful side effects, such as liver damage, and therefore should not be used to treat headaches that result from hangovers, as alcohol itself is harmful to the liver. It has recently been found that pregnant women should also be wary of consuming large amounts of such drugs because regular consumption of acetaminophen can cause autism and similar problems in the developing fetus in their stomach.

The study conducted on taking acetaminophen during pregnancy and its conclusions

Dr., the head of the laboratory, along with his students, reviewed studies examining the possible relationship between prolonged exposure of acetaminophen to the fetus and the risk of developing neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism and ADHD. That conclusion of the review was that prolonged drug use during pregnancy increases the risk of developing ADHD by about 30% and autism by about 20%.
Along with these alarming results, it is important to note that prolonged use is considered using acetaminophen for several weeks on a daily basis, so there is no reason to be alarmed if there is a need to use the medication to relieve pain once in a while. In fact, occasional use of acetaminophen is much less dangerous to the fetus than the stress felt by the pregnant mother caused by the pain that afflicts her. However, it is recommended that pregnant women who suffer from pain regularly consider alternative and natural ways to reduce pain and consult with their doctor to find out what is the right and healthiest way to achieve this goal.

What else is known about the dangers of acetaminophen?

Apart from the known side effects of acetaminophen, such as nausea, allergic reaction, rash, redness, sweating and high blood pressure, in some cases the drug may cause the diaphragm to contract, leading to some type of asthma and, in rare cases, - a condition called thrombocytopenia or leukopenia, depending on the complication. In addition, a study conducted in 2011 found that prolonged use of acetaminophen (4 times or more per week for 4 years or more) doubles the risk of leukemia.
However, despite all the dangers mentioned above, it should be remembered that this is a drug that is considered to be safe in all that is associated with pain relief, but it is important to consume it at the correct dose that does not exceed 3 tablets per day for a maximum of 3 days, unless you have received other instructions from your doctor. It is also important to note that the drug is considered safe for children and infants, as opposed to other painkillers that may cause serious and dangerous effects, such as aspirin, which is recommended for use only at the age of 18 and up.

In conclusion

If you are a pregnant woman suffering from pain on a regular basis, it is recommended that you consult with your doctor to find the most effective solution to the problem, while considering the possibility of natural treatments and relief of pain with appropriate food. As long as you use acetaminophen only once for a while and not regularly, it poses no risk to your fetus. On the other hand, if you are considering regular use of these medications, remember that you are putting yourself and your baby in harm's way.

Tips For Pregnant Women To Manage Stress And Anxiety

Pregnant women experiencing chronic stress have an increased risk of the unborn child developing various psychological and physical diseases. Here are tips to reduce their stress.

Apart from taking care of eating habits, sleep cycles, daily exercise, consuming less caffeine, avoiding smoking and alcohol, pregnant women need to take care of their stress levels too. A Recent study found that women experiencing acute or short term stress does not seem to have an unfavorable effect on the development of the fetus. Whereas If the mother is stressed over a longer period of time during pregnancy, the concentration of stress hormones in amniotic fluid rises which could lead to some complications during pregnancy.

The study also revealed that pregnant women experiencing chronic stress have an increased risk of the unborn child developing various psychological and physical diseases like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or cardiovascular diseases later in life. The precise mechanism of how stress affects the baby in the womb is not yet been completely clarified.

Researchers studied 34 pregnant women to determine if the placenta releases stress hormones when the mother experiences short term stress and compared the cortisol level in the mother's saliva with the CRH level in the amniotic fluid present in the placenta and determined that there was no connection: "The baby obviously remains protected against negative effects in case of acute, short-term stress to the mother," co-author concludes.

Chronic stress can affect the fetus size. When stressed, the human body releases hormones to handle the higher stress levels, such as corticotrophin releasing hormone (CRH), which results in an increase in stress hormone called cortisol. It was noted that during pregnancy the placenta which is responsible for providing nutrition to the fetus also increases cortisol levels in the amniotic fluid. The result was noted in fetal size at the time of the amniocentesis and at birth, and they found that higher levels of the stress hormone in the amniotic fluid were associated with accelerated growth and that might be a problem for developing organs.

The effect of the hormone on growth is confirmed, as it was observed in animals such as tadpoles, if their pond is on the verge of drying out, CRH is released in tadpoles, thereby driving their metamorphosis. This is why psychologists have advised women experiencing immense chronic stress to "seek support from a therapist to handle the stress better." Stress during pregnancy cannot always be avoided, however. "A secure bond between the mother and child after the birth can neutralize n negative effects of stress during pregnancy," she concluded.

7 Tips to manage stress and anxiety during pregnancy:
1. First try to identify the source of your stress so you can work to remove them from your life or minimize their effect.
2. Get a regular exercise regime like walking or swimming for stress relief.

Exercise is a great stress buster
3. When you're pregnant, the people around you want to nurture you. Let them, and ask for support when you need someone to talk to.
4. Take a break, go for a vacation. Check with your doctor about your travel plans.
5. Reading about pregnancy and listening to others stories is fine but do not delve into too much information. Each person has a different experience of being pregnant.
6. Relax. With so much effort to prepare for the baby, sometimes all you need to do is relax. Try yoga or meditation, or simply carve out some alone time.

Yoga never fails you!
7. Do your best to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet so you have the physical and emotional energy you need.
