Simple Tips To Lead A Happy Life

Quite often we are our own enemies. Surprised, when you read below then you'll realise and change for the better. At times, we're surrounded by people who have lots of negativity, we've wrong company, some may pick up some bad habits, of which we're not aware of. If we make some changes in our lives and behavior, the results would be astounding. I now want to share these changes with you, in the hope that it will help you too.
1. Don’t associate with the wrong people
People who make you feel like you’re not worth their time, who treat you like you’re beneath them, or who never back you up when you need them to are not people you should spend time with. True friends will make time for you and stick with you through thick and thin.
2. Stop avoiding your problems
It may be the easy thing to do in the short term, but in the long run, you’ll just face them again and again. It’s better to tackle hardship head-on. You probably won’t solve your problems instantly, but the process is what counts – learn from your mistakes, adapt and grow. Eventually, it’ll make you a better, stronger person.
3. Don’t lie to yourself
Honesty is the best policy, and being honest with yourself is the most important part of this policy. When you lie to yourself, you know that you’re lying, so it’s pointless and will make you feel like a disingenuous person. Don’t do it.

4. Don’t ignore your own needs
You may want to be there for all of your friends, all the time, or you may think that your children’s needs come before your happiness. They don’t. If you suppress your needs, you’ll become tired, because fighting a need is tiresome, and you’ll end up unhappy at best and severely depressed at worst. Take some “me time” - indulge in a hobby or passion. It’s worth it.
5. Be yourself
Trying to be someone you’re not is hard work, and ultimately, you’ll always be afraid others will find out. The most gratifying relationships are with people who appreciate you for who you are, not who you want others to think you are.
6. Let go of the past
It cannot be changed, so learn from it and get on with it.
7. You can make mistakes
“To err is human, to forgive is divine” – we all make mistakes, and no one is perfect. The only way to make no mistakes is to do nothing, and people who are afraid of mistakes are often paralyzed by that fear. The more things you avoid out of fear, the more regrets you’ll end up having.
8. Let bygones be bygones
Staying up late at night, thinking of all of the things you did wrong, all of the conversations that could have gone differently if you’d have said (or hadn't said) that one thing? You’re wasting your time and energy. Past mistakes are done and gone - you can learn from them, make amends, and move on. The knowledge learned from the mistakes you made in the past are helping to shape your future. They will end up making you a better person.
9. Money can’t buy you happiness
That new TV, shiny car, those diamond earrings – they may make you happy for a few minutes, a few days or even a couple of years, but true happiness comes from within. Follow your passions and enjoy life – that will make you truly happy.

10. Happiness is in you, not in other people
Other people are looking for happiness just like you, they may like to join you for the ride, but the only person responsible for your happiness - is you.
11. A rolling stone gathers no moss
Problems and fears can paralyze you and get you stuck. You may need to stop over-thinking and try a different approach, but always take decisive action once you do. Sure, you’ll make mistakes, but at least you won’t be stuck anymore.
12. Don’t get into a relationship just because you’re lonely
A relationship requires two people who are both ready and willing to be in a relationship. Loneliness may be a terrible feeling, but being with the wrong person ends up feeling even worse. You’ll find the right person as long as you’re true to yourself.
13. Don’t wait until you’re “ready”
Life will always find ways to surprise you. Opportunities arise when you least expect them. You may never be ready, but don’t let it stop you. When an opportunity comes knocking – take it. When you need to do something – do it. Don’t get stuck in your comfort zone.
14. Old relationships shouldn’t affect new relationships
Even if your last relationship (or relationships) ended in heartbreak, don’t let it prevent you from entering a new one. A new person may help you mend that broken heart and bring out the best in you.
15. Life is not a competition
Stop comparing yourself to other people. There will always be someone who seems better looking, smarter, richer, or more talented. Nobody is perfect, including you. Your success is your own - between you and yourself.
16. Self-pity and complaints will get you nowhere
Wallowing in your own misery and constantly complaining doesn’t solve your problems, and also tends to push people away. Consider every time something bad happened, and find the good that came out of it. You’ll realize that hardship is just a matter of perspective.
17. Grudges are bad for your health
Holding on to anger and hate will push people away, and end up hurting you and your loved ones. To forgive doesn’t mean ignoring what was done to you, but rather to acknowledge it and refuse to let it dampen your happiness. Also, remember to forgive yourself as well.
18. Don’t let others make you stoop to their level
“Refuse to lower your standards to accommodate those who refuse to raise theirs.”
19. Stop wasting time on justifying yourself
Your friends don’t require explanations, and enemies won’t care. As long as you know in your heart that you are right, stop apologizing.
20. If something doesn’t work, try a different approach
Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
21. Small moments count
We tend to remember only the big moments, but the majority of life occurs in small doses. A shooting star, a moment of joy, the last rays of a sunset – these are the fillings of life’s cake, and it’s the best part.
22. Perfection is impossible
No one and nothing is perfect, and perfectionists are often the most frustrated people in the world.
23. Don’t separate optimism from realism
Sometimes things fall apart, and that’s okay. Sometimes you feel weak, and that’s also okay. You can’t pretend that everything is fine when it clearly isn’t, so don’t avoid the truth – embrace it.
24. The easiest choice is not always the best one
Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, and the easy way out often leaves you feeling empty. Dare. Take risks. A truly extraordinary life is never an easy one.
25. Take responsibility for your actions
The only person you can control in this world is you. Other people can’t make your dreams come true for you, nor can they take the blame for your mistakes. Don’t give other people power over you.
26. Don’t make yourself sick with worry
Worrying doesn’t solve problems, but it definitely can create new ones. If you find yourself worrying about something, ask yourself if it will really impact you in the future – if it doesn’t, it’s not worth worrying about. 27. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want
A positive approach helps in two ways – it aids with your happiness and helps you solve problems faster than a negative one.
28. Remember to be grateful
When you wake up each morning, be thankful that you’re alive, appreciate each day and be grateful for what you’ve got. In other parts of the world, people may not be so lucky.

Learn to Be Optimistic Around Negative People

Being optimistic helps in many ways, one of it is having better health, as people worry less. When you've less tension, then better blood circulation leading to better health. Being optimistic is quite easy, just like saying the glass is half full than saying half empty !

1. Choose to Be Optimistic
Life is all about choices. You can opt to spend the entire day reading or cleaning. You can make dinner yourself or choose to go out to eat. You can make that call you've been thinking about for a while or you can put it off for another day.
What's more, you can also choose to be positive or you can choose to simply carry on living as you are. Being optimistic in a negative world starts with the decision to be positive and to carry on that way for the rest of your life.

2. Avoid Energy-Draining Vampires
Some people call them 'toxic' while others call them 'whiners', but we can all recognize a pessimist when we see one, and can recognize their horrible ability to suck all of the positive energy out of a room. This is why it's important to establish healthy boundaries with such people, otherwise, they might end up sucking all of the life out of you.
3. Imagine a Positive Future
It might sound a little pathetic right now, but actually writing down your ideas of an optimistic future will make a huge difference when it comes to your overall outlook on life. You may also want to consider a serious challenge you have in life right now, and simply sit back and think about all of the possible positive outcomes.
4. Bestow Positivity on Others
Making others feel good about themselves can have lasting positive effects on your own life. Never forget to praise your family, friends, and colleagues for the good things which they are doing in their lives, even if they don't directly affect you. Of course, you should never forget to praise yourself either, even for what might seem like the most trivial of things.
5. Recognize Your Negative Thought Patterns
It’s fine to acknowledge that bad things in life might happen at any time. After all, ignoring reality isn’t the most helpful tactic either. Being excessively negative though can seriously sabotage your chances of finding happiness in this life.
When you begin to think in a negative manner, take a moment to work out just how realistic your thoughts really are. Reframing your awkwardly negative thoughts into more realistic patterns may be the key to helping you maintain an optimistic outlook.

6. Practice Gratitude
Spending some time thinking about all of the things you have to be thankful for will often provide you with an instant optimism boost. You could even choose to keep a gratitude journal, where you can jot down anything which makes you smile. If nothing else, take a moment every once in a while to stop, smile and be thankful for the positive things in life.

Guide to Childhood Anxiety and Helping Them Cope

No parent likes to see their child sad or frightened, but more and more children in the Western world are now coping with stress and anxiety. For the most part, parents of children who suffer from these feelings are at a loss while at the same time they look for every possible way to help their children cope with this situation, sometimes to no avail. If your children are suffering from anxiety, or you know parents of such children, you should read the following article, which highlights some of the common causes of anxiety, signs the child is suffering and how to cope with it so that you can be the best parent you can be and help them cope.

8 Common Causes of Anxiety in Children:

1. A significant change in the family - One of the main causes of anxiety and depression among children is a significant change in the family - divorce, death, moving, and even birth can undermine your child's peace of mind. Think about these significant changes and understand that they can shake your child’s stability and make them feel insecure, leading to confusion and eventually to anxiety and depression.
2. Parental instability - Another reason many children experience anxiety and depression is parental instability, which means that the parent's life is unstable and as a result, the children's security is undermined. Money, feelings of depression, family turmoil or fighting between parents can cause your children to experience a tremendous sense of helplessness because they want to help, but they don’t have the means to do so, thereby making the road to anxiety and depression very short.
3. Packed schedules - Today most children have packed schedules; From school through to private lessons to spending time with friends, these are just some of the activities that many children take part in. These children tend to run between activities which can cause great stress. Even if they seem happy and enjoy the activity load, in most cases they need occasional quiet and rest.
4. Educational pressure - the school curriculum can be a burden on many children, along with the number of assignments and tests given throughout the year. Therefore, this is one of the causes of stress among many children who are anxious about succeeding in school. Such pressure is most common among teenagers and children who are afraid to make mistakes and fail or be imperfect.

5. Popularity - In today's reality, the need to show off and be seen exists in everyone, even in many children. For the most part, being shunned or even simply not popular can be a major factor of depression in children. As they grow, most of them want to integrate and feel a sense of belonging to a particular group, and this pressure can sometimes be agonizing.
6. Bullying - This common problem affects many children very strongly, especially in the mental-emotional aspect, and sometimes can also cause physical damage. Children who struggle with bullying often feel embarrassed that they are targets, and as a result may hide the abuse from their parents and teachers for fear of drawing attention to themselves and exposing their weaknesses.
7. News - Everywhere in the world there are media outlets that report on various events that happen around the world, and this information, which can sometimes be difficult, is exposed to many children. News headlines and images depicting natural disasters, terrorist attacks, violence, and more can cause anxiety among children. When children see and hear bad news, they may worry that something bad can happen to them or someone they love.
8. A scary film or book - today's movies, television, and literature have become more blunt and speculative, therefore, fiction stories can cause distress or anxiety among some children. Children are often affected by frightening, violent, or disturbing scenes that are shown in a movie or written in a book. Some may even be more sensitive. Try to understand who your child is, how sensitive he/she is, and what scares them, and limit the content they are exposed to based on this knowledge.

Causes, signs, and ways of dealing with anxiety in children:

Physical signs

  • They often complain of headaches or stomachaches, although there is no medical reason behind the pain.
  • Refuse to eat snacks or meals at school.
  • Don't use restrooms other than those at home.
  • They are restless, nervous, hyperactive or distracted.
  • They begin to tremble or sweat in threatening situations.
  • They have constant difficulty falling asleep.
  • Their muscles are tense all the time.

Emotional signs

  • They often cry.
  • They are overly sensitive.
  • They are angry for no apparent reason.
  • They are afraid to make small mistakes.
  • They suffer from excessive fears (natural disasters, bees, etc.).
  • Worry about what happens in the future.
  • Suffer from recurring nightmares about the loss of a parent or other loved one.
  • Their worries and fears interfere with them having childlike fun.
  • They suffer from tantrums.
  • They are preoccupied with obsessive thoughts or suffering compulsive behaviors (finger tapping, hand washing, etc.).

Behavioral signs

  • They always ask, "What if?"
  • They refrain from participating in class activities, even outside school hours.
  • They are quiet or preoccupied with something while they are supposed to work with others.
  • They Refuse to go to school.
  • They often are alone during recess.
  • They refuse to talk to people in public places.
  • They constantly ask permission from parents, teachers, and friends.
  • They say, "I can’t " without a real reason.
  • They find it difficult to part from people who are close to them, even if only for a short time, and they respond to this separation in an exaggerated and unusual way.

7 Ways of coping with parents of children with anxiety

1. Teach children to control anxiety

Not one of us is interested in seeing their child anxious and sad, and the best way to help them overcome it is actually to teach them to control these feelings. Talk to your child about their feelings and the panic attacks they suffer from, try to understand how they begin, their triggers and the symptoms. When you learn to identify them, they can be better controlled. Of course, the beginning will be difficult and the self-control will improve over time and practice.

2. Don’t avoid certain things just because they can trigger your child’s anxiety

Preventing situations that cause anxiety in children can be an effective short-term solution, however, this won’t help your child develop the coping skills needed to deal with anxiety in the long term. If you constantly come to your child’s rescue when they are faced with something that causes them anxiety, they’ll learn that they have someone that will deal with their anxiety for them. This is why you need to allow your child to experience these situations and teach them how to deal with and soothe panic attacks.

3. Present the situation in a positive but realistic light

You can’t sugar coat your child’s fear and make them believe they’ll never happen. Whether it's failing a test, a visit to the dentist, or bullying, these are things your child really might have to face, and they can be scary, you, however, need to show them that you are confident in the ability to deal with these situations. The intention here is to reassure the children that they will understand that any experience they undergo, good or bad, is temporary and can be controlled. Over time, their level of anxiety will decline and they will rely on the confidence you place on them.

4. Respect their feelings but don’t empower them

It’s important to understand that respecting their feelings doesn’t mean you are approving or agreeing with them.  If your child is afraid, for example, to go to the doctor because they are scared of shots, don’t undermine this fear, but at the same time don’t increase it. Just listen to your child, be empathic and help them understand why they are afraid, and then encourage them and make them feel that they can conquer their fears. Remember, the message you want to convey is "I know you're scared, it's fine, I'm here and I'm going to help you through this."

5. Don’t ask leading questions

You should encourage your children to talk about their feelings and anxieties, but try not to use leading questions like: "Are you afraid of the test next week?" Or "Are you afraid of visiting the doctor?" To avoid asking them questions that will increase their anxiety just ask them open questions such as: "How do you feel about the test you have next week?"

6. Encourage them to accept their anxieties

You must show your children that you appreciate the effort their putting into coping with the depression and anxiety they experience, which will encourage them to continue to do so until the situation changes. Remember that your children cope with anxiety attacks every day, and with your support, their feelings will improve and eventually they’ll be able to overcome their fears.

7. Be a role model in dealing with anxiety

The best way to help your children deal with anxiety is by showing them how you deal with it. Children, especially at a young age, absorb much of the behaviors of their environment and especially their parents. If they constantly hear their parents complain and see them unable to cope with their stress and fears they will adopt these same inabilities. We aren’t saying you need to pretend to not have fears or feels stress, but we are saying that you should be exhibiting the correct way to deal with it
Closing words
Every parent wants their child to be happy, so many parents find it difficult to help their children and understand them when they are suffering from anxiety. We believe that thanks to the knowledge you’ve acquired here, you’ll be able to identify signs of anxiety in your children and know how to help them cope with it. In addition, you may want to consider providing your child with professional care, such as therapy.

7 Positive Thinking Rules That Can Improve Your Life

In times of crisis, there are always people who tell us that we should think positively. This is advice that sounds good and quite logical, but to think positive isn’t always easy or helpful, usually because we simply don’t know how to do so properly. This may seem a little puzzling - how can someone mess up thinking positively? However, after you finish reading this article you’ll understand that there are definitely a few mistakes that can be made, some of which you may have even made in the past...

1. Explore yourself

Every time we get upset or sink into depression because of something someone else has told us, we are actually projecting the negativity that lies in our thoughts about it. To change this situation and to adopt truly positive thinking, we must not ignore the little voice in our heads that makes us feel bad, but rather try to understand the reason for it. Just ask yourself why you’re upset and which side of your personality or lifestyle makes these actions or words difficult for you. Once you find the answer, you can tell yourself that now you know the reason for the negativity that surrounds your thoughts, and you can "fight" it with positive thoughts and actions that target the source of the problem.

2. Don’t resist negative thoughts

As you may already have understood from the previous section, positive thinking doesn’t always come at the expense of negative thinking, both of which can certainly coexist, however, the positive side should be given greater importance. One of the most important rules that help to do this, and which many do not follow, is that we shouldn’t suppress negative thinking altogether. Whenever there is anger, frustration, or sadness in our lives, we must accept these feelings and understand that they are created as a result of the reaction of our inner selves to the world. These feelings are there, but they do not define us. Just tell yourself in your head: "I'm angry/ frustrated/negative and these feelings are part of me, but they are not me." You are not sad or depressed, you feel sad or depressed - it is a small difference that may seem silly to some, but it has tremendous meaning and it makes it much easier to overcome negative thinking and adopt a better attitude.

3. Remember who you are and be realistic

Like a battery with a positive and negative side and like the eternal cycle of light and darkness in the world, we also have to have positive and negative sides. Positive thinking doesn’t ignore this fact, and therefore, in order to apply it effectively, we must accept ourselves as we are and not try to eliminate significant aspects of our personality. The father of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud put it simply: “Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.” So, don’t let your positive thinking "run over" who you really are. If for example you want a job promotion, but you know that your professional knowledge is lacking, don’t tell yourself that you’ll definitely get it if you want enough and think positively. Instead, tell yourself that your chances of getting promoted will increase considerably if you spend an hour each day completing gaps in knowledge related to your work.

4. Forgive yourself

Positive thinking can’t make you happy if while having positive thoughts about the future you are still angry with yourself because of the past. The problem that many of you may be thinking right now is that forgiving yourself is good advice, but it can be as difficult to implement as positive thinking. To apply it, you can use the principles outlined in the first section of this article.

5. Visualize the fulfillment of your positive thoughts

When we are stuck in a negative mood, our imagination always creates terrible scenarios that make us postpone decisions, act hesitantly and feel general misery. In addition, when your mind is filled with imaginary events related to rejection, degradation, disappointment, or sadness, it harms our quality of life and prevents us from moving forward in our lives. We don’t actively try to think about this possible negative future; these thoughts simply appear because of our imagination. To adopt positive thinking, we must harness its mighty power in the opposite direction, and imagine positive scenarios frequently. It is important to remember that just as in the case of imagining negative thoughts, not everything we think about will actually happen in real life, but thanks to this tool we won’t fall into the trap of negative thinking and feel, as a result, stuck in place.

6. Use positive reinforcement from yourself and the environment

How many times in the past have you received compliments from other people and treated them with disdain and disbelief? And how many times have you consciously reinforced your positive thinking and trained it just as athletes train their muscles in the gym? If your answers are a lot and a little, respectively, then it's no surprise that you have a hard time enjoying the benefits of positive thinking and harnessing it to improve your quality of life. These two things are closely related to our ability to apply positive thinking in a way that really makes us happier

7. Remember that the journey is more important than the destination

If you want positive thinking to become a real way of life for you, you must remind yourself that it’s not only a tool for achieving goals - it is a way of life. If, for example, you wanted to buy a new apartment, you thought only positive thoughts throughout the search but were still unable to find the right place - you still deserve a pat on the back. You don’t really control the supply of real estate in your area, what other people think, or anything else that isn’t directly related to your inner world. So, if you were really positive during your search and didn’t feel stress, fear or other negative emotions, you were able to implement positive thinking in the best way possible - positive thinking doesn’t really guarantee us success, love, or progress; it only improves our chances and makes our journey towards these goals more pleasant.
