Make These Natural Face Masks

Wrinkles are inevitable signs of aging that make us reluctant to go through each birthday that comes around. Many of us think of them as incessant reminders of growing old. Although there's no denying this, there are things we can do to lessen their appearance as much as possible. Lately, I have discovered an even better way of doing this other than using expensive store-bought products - and it's by using natural remedies.

The following home remedies can help you reduce wrinkles and fine lines on your face, neck, hands, or any other areas of skin that have lost their elasticity and moisture. Please note that although they are effective in terms of external results, they should be coupled with a healthy lifestyle that'll help your skin improve from within.

This includes sustaining yourself with good hydration, sufficient sleep, and wrinkle-fighting foods (such as nuts, eggs, liver, oily fish, teas, and certain fruits and vegetables). One should also avoid wrinkle-causing factors such as smoking, harmful sunrays, skin-damaging cosmetics, and experiencing excess stress.

Here are 9 natural packs and masks for wrinkled skin:

1. Avocado Mask
Avocado is packed with anti-aging elements, including vitamin E and monounsaturated fat, and can work wonders in the prevention and reduction of wrinkles. Here's how to use it to make an excellent moisturizing mask for your skin:

What you will need:
Half an avocado
2 tablespoons fresh cream
 2 teaspoons flaxseeds
1 tablespoon honey

Directions:
Transfer the contents of half an avocado to a bowl.
Grind the flaxseeds to obtain a powder consistency and add it to the bowl.
Add the fresh cream and honey and mix well until the mixture takes on a smooth paste consistency.

Application:
Apply the paste to the face or other areas of skin.
Leave for one hour.
Rinse with lukewarm water.

2. Homemade Ayurvedic Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizer
This cream recipe is considered a superb boost for our skin - whether it has wrinkles or not. Thanks to the varied oils it uses, it's useful for both curing wrinkles and preventing them. Although it may take some more of your effort and time, it gives satisfying results. Try it out:
What you will need:
2 tablespoons Aloe Vera gel (or 2 tablespoons cocoa butter or lanolin - 30ml / 1 oz. approximately)
60 ml (4 tablespoons) rose water
Few drops lavender or rose essential oil (or 6 tablespoons of one of the following oils, according to skin type: 90ml / 3 oz. approximately)
Almond oil - for normal skin Sesame oil - for dry skin Jojoba oil - for oily and acne-prone skin
Rice bran oil or ghee (clarified butter) - for mature skin (ie. thin aging skin with dullness, uneven tone, fine lines and dry complexion)

Directions:
Heat each ingredient separately to make them slightly warm (not hot or boiling).
Mix the ingredients together. You may use a blender.
Continue mixing while pouring in the essential oils of your choice.
Transfer to a container and store.

Application:
Use this cream to moisturize your face after washing it.
You may even use the recipe to make an anti-wrinkle night cream - simply reduce the amount of Aloe Vera gel and add vitamin A and vitamin E oils to it.
Apply it to your face before going to sleep.

3. Papaya-Banana Mask
Papaya contains certain enzymes that can eliminate dead skin cells to make way for new ones. Bananas, on the other hand, can provide our skin with various enriching nutrients that contribute to producing new skin cells. Therefore by teaming up these two ingredients, you can create a perfect mask for your face. Here's how to make it:

What you will need:
Papaya (as per need)
Banana (as per need)

Directions:
Cut the banana and papaya into pieces and mash them.
Combine them well in a bowl and mix.

Application:
Apply the mixture on your skin.
Leave for 20 minutes.

4. Egg White Wonder

Because of their nutrient-loaded content and skin-tightening properties, egg whites make a great ingredient for a natural skin remedy for sagging and wrinkling. You may use it as a lone ingredient - just apply it to your face, leave to dry, and then, using wet fingers, massage your face with it before washing off. Another way of benefiting from egg white is by making the following hydrating mask:

What you will need:
Egg white from 1 egg
1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon milk
Few drops of avocado/olive/coconut oil

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Apply to your face.
Leave for 20-30 minutes.
Rinse with lukewarm water.

5. Honey Pack
No list of natural anti-aging remedies is complete without mentioning honey. Honey offers a wealth of benefits for the skin, and it can also be of great help when it comes to getting rid of wrinkles. Although it is effective to use on the skin alone (leaving it for 20-30 minutes and rinsing with warm water), you can also try making the following pack:

What you will need:
4 tablespoons milk powder
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons warm water
A small towel

Directions:
Combine milk powder, honey and warm water in a bowl to make a smooth paste.

Application:
Apply to your face. Try to avoid the eyes and mouth.
Dip the small towel in the mixture, squeeze it, and place it on your face.
Leave for about 10 minutes.
Gently clean off the mask by using the same towel.

 6. Vitamin E mask
Vitamin E is a widely-known essential for our skin. It repairs the damage from reactions of fatty acids with oxygen, and hence, can prevent wrinkles from forming. To make the best of this vitamin other than ingesting it, let your body absorb it by using to the following recipe:

Beat the heat with these natural drinks in this summer

In the Indian health system of Ayurveda, our daily routine and eating habits should be in harmony with the cycles of nature. With the temperature soaring at its peak this summer, it is vital to remain well-hydrated and nourished. Before you think of picking up that fizzy carbonated drink full of sugar and unwanted chemicals to quench your thirst, here are some ways that you can stay healthy this summer.

Lemonade
Available throughout the year, lemons are an excellent source of potassium, vitamin C and a great way to detoxify your body. The anti-oxidants in lemon juice decrease blemishes and keeps your skin hydrated.

Coconut water
It is one of the purest drink that mother nature has gifted us. It is packed with minerals, electrolytes and natural enzymes. Coconut water is nature's most refreshing drink to beat the heat and replenish the dehydrated body.

Buttermilk / lassi
Being a probiotic, it not only takes care of your digestive system, as it quenches your thirst. You can have either a sweet lassi to which sugar is added or a salted lassi with salt and lime juice  to get added benefits !

Watermelon
A fruit that mainly ripens in summer, is the perfect summer fruit having more than 90 % water content, so it naturally quenches your thirst by eating it. It can be made into smoothie or just plain watermelon juice, which tastes delicious when chilled. It is loaded with antioxidants and water, it keeps you healthy and hydrated.

Sugarcane juice
Nothing more energetic than having a big galls of sugarcane juice on a hot summer day, as it not just hydrates your body, it gives you instant energy boost due to the naturally occurring sugar. Though many would say that it is not recommended for diabetics, I'ld say, having it on a regular basis is a big NO, but surely having it rarely is allowed.

Cucumber
As the most refreshing summer ingredient, cucumber can be used in various ways. Add it to your salad, eat it raw or juice it if you like to feel hydrated and refreshed from the summer heat. Keeping slices of cucumber over your eyes and relaxing,  makes the eyes also feel better and refreshed.

Jaljeera
If you get bored of eating salads and fruits in the long, hot summer, jaljeera is a great way to add some spice to your palate with its tangy and spicy taste that is also a great digestive.

Aam panna ( raw mango juice)
It is made from raw green magoes, by boiling or pressure cooking it. Removing the pulp of the mango in a mixer jar, adding sugar, rock salt, jeera/ cumin powder, pepper powder wee bit, it is mixed well adding little water. When you want to drink, add roughly 1/4 glass of this juice, add cold water, mix well. It helps the body to cool in the summer heat.

What things one should avoid in summer
1) dinking ice-cold water is a big NO, carbonated drinks and milk-based fruit smoothies that disrupt the digestive system and create toxins in the body.

2) Exerting yourself during the day, especially under direct sunlight and try doing them during the cooler time instead such as morning or  late evening.

3) Hot, spicy and greasy foods should bit be consumed. Opt for cooler foods that will help you remain hydrated, well nourished and calm.
