5 juices to drink before you sleep to cut down stubborn belly fat

Losing weight, specifically stomach fat, can be such a discouraging process, especially when you have to deal with stubborn belly fat. Here are several bedtime drinks that will help burn stomach fat faster.

Feel free to adapt these drink recipes. They’re a delicious way to kick your body into gear, even while you’re snoozing. Here are the drinks that make you feel lighter and you will lose your fat during snoozing too:

Cucumber Juice: A delicious juice with fresh cucumbers can make you feel lighter. For a flavorful and healthy bedtime drink, add water as desired if the cucumber blend is too strong to drink straight. To make the drink tastier, squeeze some lemons and grate ginger on the juice before drinking. Drink this every night for a month and you will notice your stomach fat trimming.

Fresh cucumber and lime drink: Take one cucumber in a blender and slice the other one into circles. Squeeze the juice out of the orange and lime. Combine the cucumbers, juice and honey in a large pitcher and mix together. Add the soda and garnish it with fresh mint leaves.

Blended celery drink: To make this drink, blend 1/2 cup of chopped celery in a blender or food processor. Add one teaspoon apple cider vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and a dash of salt. Celery is a “negative calorie” food – you’ll burn more calories digesting it than the celery itself contains.

Blended Grapes and Wheatgrass juice: This drink is simple. All you have to do is combine 2 parts blended wheatgrass, 2 parts water, and 1 part grapes in a blender. Grapes and wheatgrass both help to keep your blood sugar levels stable, which prevents cravings. They also regulate blood cholesterol.

Ginger tea: Ginger has widely-known medicinal properties but it has been revealed that it also works effectively against obesity. Drinking ginger tea before bedtime also helps the body absorb nutrients better. Additionally, it aids in food digestion and alleviates stomach discomfort.

Sleeping in your contact lenses -You may lose your eyesight

Sleeping in your contact lenses -You may lose your eyesight is the stern message which emerges of 6 tales on eye infections featured .

Contace lens are worn by an estimated 45 million Americans. Improper care or wear, like going to sleep without removing your lenses, can lead to infections of the cornea like microbial keratitis, which can lead to serious health problems. The experts report that an estimated 1 million annual outpatient and emergency visits were due to keratitis.

Sleeping in your contact lenses is risky and can lead to infections, or in some cases, permanent damage, said a Dr. Falling asleep, or even napping without removing your contact lenses can significantly increase the likelihood of serious health problems.

In one case, a man evaluated for eye redness and blurred vision reported sleeping in contact lenses 3-4 nights per week and swimming with them. He was treated for bacterial and fungal microbial keratitis.

Another instance outlines an adolescent girl who slept in lenses purchased without prescription at a chain drug store. She developed a corneal ulcer that resulted in scarring.

A man who wore the same lenses for 2 weeks was diagnosed with a perforated cornea, bacterial infection and ultimately required a transplant to save his right eye.

To prevent eye infections, the experts recommend the following-
1) wash hands before touching contact lenses.
2) Remove contact lenses before bed, shower or swimming.
3) Rub and rinse contact lenses with disinfecting solution every time they are removed.
4) Replace old contact lens solution with fresh solutions every time you store your contact lenses in a case.
5) Clean contact lens case after each use.
6) Replace contact lens cases at least once every 3 months.

Sleeping in lenses is one of the riskiest and most commonly reported behaviours for adolescent and risky behaviour for adult contact lens wearers, said a Dr. If you want to avoid infection and avoid a trip to the emergency department, proper care is a must.

9 Things That Will Help You Lose Weight While You Sleep

All of us dream of losing weight without exercising, although many say it’s impossible and that you have to exercise every day because it is the best and quickest way to do so. While there is some truth to this, there are nine ways to help you lose weight during sleep with minimal effort. If you don’t believe it, take a look at the tips below along with evidence backing each one!

1. Drink a protein shake before bed

If you’re used to drinking hot caffeinated drinks or perhaps soft and sparkling beverages, you should stop doing so at least 3 hours before bedtime and instead drink something containing at least 30 grams of protein before crawling into bed. Studies have shown that protein-containing beverages increase the number of calories the body burns during rest. In addition, protein helps build muscle and the more muscle mass you have, the more calories your body burns at rest.

2. Eat light dinners

A mistake many people tend to make is skipping meals during the day due to lack of time or being busy at work, so that when they get home at night, the hunger starts and the search for food begins. It’s best to avoid this because large meals at night, especially during the hours before bedtime, interfere with our brains emitting the hormone responsible for growth during deep sleep. When eating a large meal, the same hormone stores the food in the body's internal system as a fat instead of "fuel". Therefore, you should eat small meals throughout the day, and in the evening consume a light meal as early as possible, no later than 3 hours before bedtime.

3. Avoid alcohol

In general, it is known that consuming a lot of alcohol is unhealthy for us and has negative side effects on our bodies, so it is best to reduce its consumption in the first place. In addition, you should know that drinking alcohol about 3 hours before going to bed interferes with the metabolic process in the body, with the end result slowing down fat burning and weight loss. In any case, this doesn’t mean that you should completely abstain from alcoholic beverages. If you’re used to drinking a glass of red wine with dinner, just avoid going over this amount.

4. Sleep at least 7-8 hours a night

Most people attribute great importance to the number of hours they sleep and are aware that there is a direct correlation between the amount of sleep and their health. However, few of us sleep the recommended amount required, and a study conducted in 2011  examining the length of sleep compared to energy consumption found that when there is a decrease in sleep hours, our body increases energy consumption and lipid intake at the same time, which may explain the link between sleep deprivation and obesity. Experts believe that each person should sleep an average of 7-8 hours a night, and doing so will help you burn more body fat.

5. Avoid exercise before bedtime

Exercise is a great way to lose weight which is why it’s so important to keep fit, but it’s imperative to keep in mind that exercise also stimulates the blood and the body, so it’s not recommended to perform before bedtime. To keep fit without damaging fat burning at night, shift your exercise hours to morning or midday. If you can’t exercise during the day, you can exercise up to 4 hours before bedtime.

6. Turn off all electronic devices in the bedroom

One of the causes of sleep problems in recent years is the daily use of electronic devices emitting short-wavelength light that interferes with the production of sleep hormone - melatonin. According to a study,  tablet screens and smartphones emit the wavelength in question, leading to a decrease in the production of sleep hormone, causing the body to develop various diseases due to excessive exposure. In another study, it was found that long hours of television watching showed higher levels of diabetes-related triglycerides, as well as low levels of adiponectin, a protein that regulates glucose levels and the breakdown of fatty acids in the body. Therefore, it is recommended to turn off and remove all the electronics you have from the bedroom and eliminate exposure to them before bedtime.

7. Lower the temperature of the air conditioner in the room

Contrary to what is commonly thought, that hot temperatures help burn fat in the body more than cold temperature, it is important that you know that the opposite is true. When sleeping in a very cold room, your body will try to balance its own temperature and leading to shaking which heats it up and creates heat energy. As per a study in 2014, it was found that when people slept in rooms at a temperature of 66 degrees Fahrenheit (19 degrees Celsius), they burned 75 more calories than those who slept in hot rooms, all thanks to the chill.

8. Sleep in a completely dark room

Sleeping in complete darkness helps the body produce melatonin, the sleep hormone mentioned earlier, which not only causes better sleep but also helps burn fat, according to another study. Sleeping in a non-dark room can lead to various physiological problems and cause the body to become more susceptible to disease.

9. Sleep naked

As strange as it may seem to you, sleeping without clothes has many advantages, with one of the most prominent occurring when your body is cold , as mentioned in the previous sections. When you sleep naked, a process occurs which accelerates the burning of bad fats in the body and helps burn calories.

Just one hour of social media a day can ruin your sleep

We all know that using your phone before bed is a bad idea but now there’s evidence that using it throughout the day can impact on your sleep.

Which isn’t great news for…anyone, really.

A study –  looked at data from 5,242  pupils aged 11 to 20, who were taking part in the Survey.

Researchers measured the respondents’ sleep duration against the recommended ranges of nine – 11 hours per night at 11–13 years of age, eight – 10 hours at 14–17, and seven to nine hours per night for those aged 18 years or over.

And the results weren’t pretty – using social media (they included WhatsApp as social media, as well as the usual Facebook and Snapchat) for just one hour a day greatly affect how much sleep the children got.

Only 36.4% of students met or exceeded the recommended sleep duration, meaning 63.6% slept less than they should.

Almost three quarters (73.4%) of students surveyed said they use social media for at least one hour a day, and those who use it for even longer suffered the consequences when it came to getting a good night’s rest.

The odds ratios for not getting enough sleep were 1.82 for those using social media for an hour a day, rising to 2.98 for those spending at least five hours a day on social.

‘The impact social media can have on sleep patterns is a topic of great interest given the well-known adverse effects of sleep deprivation on health,’ says senior author.

‘Electronic screen devices are pervasive in today’s society and we are just starting to understand their risks and benefits.’

However, we should note that the study focuses on youngsters – what would the result have been with adults?

School children have their screen time broken up with lessons, whereas adults with desk jobs can be staring at a screen for most of the day, so does it affect adults even more so?

Is it screen time that causes the sleep disruption, or social media specifically?

It’s easy to lose an hour scrolling mindlessly before bed, and it’s been shown that using your phone before bed disrupts melatonin production, which can cost you an hour’s sleep in itself.

Not getting enough sleep can negatively impact on your mental health, so if you’ve been struggling lately, it might be worth assessing how you use your phone and seeing where you can cut down.
