Home Remedies to Remove Facial Hair & Stop Hair Growth Naturally in Females

Unwanted facial hair can feel frustrating, especially when it keeps coming back. While there are many salon treatments and hair removal products, some natural home remedies can also help reduce and slow facial hair growth over time.

This guide covers easy and safe home remedies you can try using ingredients from your kitchen, along with tips to naturally stop hair from growing back.

1. Turmeric and Milk

What it does:

Turmeric may slow down hair growth and keeps the skin clean.

What you need:

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder
  • A little milk (or rose water)

How to use:

  1. Mix turmeric with milk to form a thick paste.
  2. Apply it to areas with unwanted hair.
  3. Let it dry.
  4. Rub gently and rinse with water.
  5. Use 2–3 times a week.

2. Egg White Mask

What it does:

Egg white becomes sticky when it dries. It can help pull out fine facial hair and also tighten the skin. When mixed with other ingredients, it works like a natural peel-off mask.

What you need:

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (or rice flour)

How to use:

  1. Crack an egg and separate the white part.
  2. Mix the egg white with sugar and cornstarch until it becomes a smooth paste.
  3. Apply this paste evenly to your face (avoid eyebrows and eyes).
  4. Let it dry completely — this may take 15–20 minutes.
  5. Gently peel it off in an upward direction.
  6. Rinse your face with cold water and apply a light moisturizer.
  7. Use once a week.

Tip:

  • Egg white has a strong smell. You can add a drop of rose water or lemon juice to reduce the odor.
  • If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, do a patch test first to make sure it doesn't irritate your skin.

3. Sugar and Lemon

What it does:

Sugar exfoliates the skin, and lemon weakens hair roots and lightens hair color.

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • A little water

How to use:

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Apply and leave for 15–20 minutes.
  3. Rinse off with cold water.
  4. Use 2–3 times a week.

4. Honey and Lemon

What it does:

Honey sticks to fine facial hair and helps remove it gently when rinsed. Lemon acts as a natural bleach and helps lighten facial hair over time. Together, they also help keep your skin soft and glowing.

What you need:

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon fresh lemon juice

How to use:

  1. Mix the honey and lemon juice well.
  2. Apply a thin layer to the areas with facial hair.
  3. Leave it on for 15–20 minutes.
  4. Soak a clean cloth in warm water, and gently wipe off the mask.
  5. Rinse your face with lukewarm water.
  6. Repeat 2–3 times a week.

Bonus:

  • This mask is also great for brightening dull skin and reducing acne scars.
  • It’s very gentle perfect for people with sensitive skin.

5. Papaya and Turmeric

What it does:

Papaya contains an enzyme (papain) that weakens hair follicles.

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons mashed raw papaya
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric

How to use:

  1. Mix into a smooth paste.
  2. Massage gently for 5 minutes.
  3. Leave for 15 minutes.
  4. Wash off.
  5. Use once or twice a week.

6. Oatmeal and Banana

What it does:

Oatmeal gently exfoliates and banana softens the skin.

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons oatmeal
  • 1 ripe banana

How to use:

  1. Mash banana and mix with oatmeal.
  2. Apply and massage for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Leave for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Rinse off.
  5. Use once a week.

7. Spearmint Tea (To Reduce Facial Hair Growth)

What it does:

Spearmint tea may help lower the levels of male hormones (androgens) in women. High androgens are often the reason behind facial hair growth, especially in conditions like PCOS. Drinking spearmint tea regularly may help slow down new hair growth over time.

What you need:

  • 1 teaspoon dried spearmint leaves (or 1 spearmint tea bag)
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • Optional: a little honey for taste

How to use:

  1. Boil 1 cup of water.
  2. Add the dried spearmint or tea bag.
  3. Let it steep for 5–10 minutes.
  4. Strain and drink warm.
  5. Drink once or twice daily for a few weeks.

Note:

  • Best results are seen when taken consistently for 2–4 weeks.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy.
  • If you have PCOS or hormonal issues, talk to a doctor before starting any herbal remedy.

8. Gram Flour and Yogurt

What it does:

Helps scrub off dead skin and fine hair. Also makes skin smooth.

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons gram flour
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • A pinch of turmeric

How to use:

  1. Mix into a paste and apply.
  2. Let it dry for 15–20 minutes.
  3. Rub in circles and wash off.
  4. Use twice a week.

9 Lavender and Tea Tree Oil Blend (For Hormonal Hair Growth)

What it does:

Lavender and tea tree oils have anti-androgenic properties, meaning they may help reduce the effect of male hormones that cause facial hair growth in women. Studies have shown that this combination might help slow down unwanted hair when used regularly.

What you need:

  • 1 teaspoon lavender oil
  • 4–5 drops tea tree oil

(You can also mix them into a base oil like coconut or almond oil if you have sensitive skin.)

How to use:

  1. Mix both essential oils together in a small bowl.
  2. Dip a clean cotton ball or your fingertip in the mixture.
  3. Gently apply it to areas with facial hair (like chin or upper lip).
  4. Leave it on overnight or for at least 2–3 hours.
  5. Use daily for best results.

Important:

  • Do a patch test before first use to check for any allergic reaction.
  • Never apply essential oils directly near eyes or on broken skin.
  • If you’re pregnant, check with a doctor before using essential oils.

Six Home Remedies to Rid Yourself of Blackheads

Blackheads are a bane to our skin's existence. They litter the surface of our otherwise clear complexion, making it look dirty and greasy. These little dots are usually caused by hair follicles that get clogged with grime, dirt, dead skin cells, sebum and  germs - resulting in a kind of plug. They're black because any excess oil in the pores goes through a process of oxidation. This is most common on the cheeks and, as you've probably noticed, the nose. However, they can - and will - pop up anywhere.

But you don't have to live with them, or buy all kinds of chemicals and sticky bandages that don't always work. You can solve your blackhead problem right at home, and here are six easy way to do so.

1) Facial Steaming
This is one of the best, safest and fastest ways to remove blackheads. This works by loosening them up, so they come out of your skin naturally. This is the recommended first step when getting rid of blackheads. All you need is a pot, four cups worth of water, a lemon rind to put in the pot and a large towel.
Boil the water and remove the pot from the stove before it starts steaming, to avoid getting a nasty burn. Place the pot on a flat surface and move your face carefully over the pot (without touching it, of course). Cover your head with the towel - so the steam stays around your face - and stay that way for about 3 to 5 minutes. After the allotted time has passed, wash your face with a mild cleanser and pat it until it's dry. You'll find that many of your blackheads have come out of your enlarged pores.

2) Egg White Mask
Egg whites help tighten our pores so blackheads don't appear to begin with. However, they also help treat your current black intruders. Mix some honey and lemon juice with the egg white. Lemons are natural astringents and honey is naturally antibacterial. The addition will create a deeper level of cleaning to the already powerful effect of the egg white. This combination will make your skin tighter, provide deeper cleaning of your pores and get rid of excess oil on your face. It will also slough off dead skin cells.

Mix 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 egg white and a 1/4 teaspoon of lemon juice. Remember not to exceed this amount of lemon juice as too much can cause skin irritation and redness.

Start with the steaming session I proposed in the previous suggestion. This will open up the pores, loosen some of the blackheads already and allow the ingredients in this mix to really get deep into the pores for cleaning. Then pat your skin dry, apply the mask to it in a circular motion and allow it to stay for 15 minutes. It may feel tight but that is normal.

After 15 minutes, rinse it off with warm water and then use cold water to close the pores up. Pat your skin dry again and apply a bit of moisturizer to return some of the moisture that you lost.

3) Baking Soda Facial Scrub
Baking soda is used for many things. It is also a natural exfoliator that can be used to get rid of impurities, deeply cleanse our pores and remove dead skin.

Take 1 tablespoon of baking soda and mix it with 3 teaspoons of (clean) water and a 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice. You'll know the mix is ready when the texture becomes a little thicker than milk. Clean your hands thoroughly and use a circular motion to gently scrub your face. Make sure you get it deep into the pores. Then apply warm water to wash it away, pat your skin dry and apply moisturizer.

4) Organic Honey
As many know, honey is both an antiseptic and an antibacterial substance. As such, it can cleanse your skin from the dirt and oil that cause blackheads. The stickiness of the honey actually helps it cling to the gunk in your pores and draw it out.

All you'll need is 1 tablespoon of organic honey and about 2 minutes to wash it off. Use the circular motion we discussed to gently scrub your face, paying extra attention to areas with many blackheads. Then wash it all away with warm water and pat your face dry.

5) Green Tea Face Mask
Green tea has an incredibly high antioxidant content. They purify the skin, allowing the blackheads to come out.

Mix together 3 teaspoons of green tea, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 1/2 a teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply this mask to your skin, spreading it thickest on the areas where most of the blackheads are. Let the mask stay for about 15 minutes, then use warm water to rinse your face. Pat it dry and wash with cold water to close the pores before patting it dry again.

6) Strawberry Face Scrub
Strawberries are full of a substance called 'alpha hydroxy acid'. These acids are wonderful for removing blackheads because they control oil production, as well as rid your face of dead skin. This scrub not only eliminates your current blackheads but prevents new ones from forming.

Create a scrub mask with 1 teaspoon of honey, 3 ripe strawberries and 1/2 a teaspoon of lemon juice. For the next 3 minutes, gently scrub your facial skin in a circular motion, then rinse it away with warm water, pat, and then rinse again with cold water and pat to dry.
