6 Surprising Home Uses for Hydrogen Peroxide

Cleaning up a house is not an easy task, but it's one that we all want to stand up to heroically - no one wants to see their house filling up with dust, or their expensive belongings becoming dirty. However, most of us are busy, and are, therefore, constantly on the lookout for easy and efficient solutions for cleaning our homes.

If this sounds like you, know that such a solution is hiding right under our noses: It turns out that hydrogen peroxide, a substance that many use regularly to disinfect cuts and scrapes, makes for the perfect cleaning tool. Read on to discover 6 great uses of this product that will make cleaning and up keeping your house so much easier:

1. Keep your countertops shining

Hydrogen peroxide
Kitchen countertops are often the hardest to keep clean. To make sure they're as clean and sterile as possible, soak a dry rag in some hydrogen peroxide and wipe down these surfaces.

2. Eliminate bad smells and mildew from towels

Instead of suffering from bad smells and mildew that can appear on old towels, just add half a cup of hydrogen peroxide and half a cup of vinegar to the wash, and launder the towels as you would normally.

3. Disinfect your sheets

Bed sheets, which tend to accumulate dust mites and dirt, can easily be disinfected by spraying a little hydrogen peroxide on them.

 4. Clean your dishwasher

Hydrogen peroxide
Dishwashers are a hotbed for bacteria which are formed on old food scraps. To avoid this, clean your dishwasher by running an empty cycle with hydrogen peroxide.

5. Remove stains from clothes

Stained clothes are an eyesore but luckily there’s an easy way to get rid of them: our some hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain right before washing it. Wait a few minutes and then launder as usual.

6. Clean your toilet

How can you keep your toilets sparkling white without to much manual labor? Just pour some hydrogen peroxide into your toilet and let it soak for 20-30 minutes. Flush the water and lightly scrub with a toilet scrubber
