Thyme Essential Oil Destroys Strep Throat and Respiratory Infections Eases Cough and sore throat
Are you experiencing an ache from a sore throat or cough? Don’t worry, the thyme essential oil is an effective cure for just about any infection of the throat or lungs.
A 2011 study revealed thyme oil to be extremely effective against 120 strains of bacteria taken from patients experiencing respiratory, oral and urinary tract infections, including various antibiotic-resistant strains.
A 2013 study concentrated more particularly on strep throat. Out of the 18 essential oils the experts tested, they noticed five that exhibited “significant antibacterial activity” against strep: thyme, cinnamon, oregano, lemon grass and winter savory.
The researchers explained that penicillin is not always the best option at treating Streptococcus pyogenes, and said the five herbs could be an “interesting” option to our “alternative therapeutic arsenal.”
