Weekend detox

Try this seasonal cleansing diet to clear your tummy.

The weekend is here and everything that you have been procrastinating for the weekend, it is time to do it, which includes your weight loss and detox plans. The party season recently had been crazy, not just otherwise but also for the body which went through some binge eating, binge drinking, and no workout. Some people are still in the party mode since this is the first weekend of 2019! However, after the big party binge, you may feel the need to detox your body.

Detox is easy and extremely important. It helps to clean the body of toxins that have accumulated, betters digestion, and helps immensely in weight loss. Since winters can be really tough to go out and work out, we can try to cleanse our body by following this simple winter seasonal diet. 

What to eat in a day for a winter detox diet?

Start your day by drinking a glass of water with lemon in it. Lemon is rich in Vitamin C and helps in keeping the bowel movement efficient and water helps you stay hydrated, which is extremely important for a detox.

Breakfast: For breakfast, try to have a fruit smoothie and some nuts and seeds like Chia and almonds. Include some sort of berries in your diet as they are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. You can include drinks like almond milk or coconut water in your diet.

For your breakfast, you can make a seasonal vegetable salad with celery, spinach, and lettuce. You can also add seasonal fruits like guava, grapes, etc. according to your taste and choice. Include a cup of fresh carrot juice in your breakfast to provide a good cleansing of your stomach and better digestion.

Lunch: For lunch, eat something light like curd rice, porridge, brown rice and millets to make sure that your stomach remains light and your digestion gets better. All these food items taste great in winters and are rich in fibre. They help in improving your bowel movements and aid weight loss.
You can also have steamed vegetables for lunch instead if you prefer those over the food items mentioned.

Dinner: This weekend, try to eat early at about 7 pm and not later than that. You can eat meat, fish, and include nuts and seeds like walnuts and almonds in your diet for dinner. You can repeat the boiled vegetables you had for lunch for dinner as well. 

Tips to remember:

  • Try keeping all your food items organic, as much as possible as chemically grown food can hinder your detox and weight loss efforts.
  • Include diet supplements like multi-vitamins and multi-minerals for better immunity, growth and strength in the body.
  • Make sure you sweat out the calories gained during the week to help your detox.
  • Stay hydrated, drink lots of water.
  • Do not snack between your meals.
