World Alzheimer’s Day is celebrated on the 21st of September each

raising the awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Life for an Alzheimer’s patients is quite difficult, but by following the following tips, you can support yourself and will also help you to cope with it.
1) One need not feel ashamed due to the disease. One should learn to accept it and find ways to overcome the difficulties, by learning to adapt oneself according to one's needs.
2)If one keeps oneself mentally and physically occupied by trying to find ways and means to overcome or cope with their problems. By practising coping skills, one gains sense of control in one's life.
3) Prioritize your tasks and find out for which you've to find means to overcome the problems. Try to develop coping strategies which will suit you best.
4) Set realistic goals and expectations to cope up with the problems. In case, you come up with something very challenging and beyond your capabilities, never hesitate to ask for help.
5) One must schedule their routine, so one can keep a track of the various activities one has to do. This will make sure that one does those routine activities without any problem, for e.g., taking medicine after breakfast, lunch and dinner. If it is written boldly and put on a place they often visit, for e.g., the refrigerator, so it will remind them what to take, when to take and so on.
6) Never so NO to your tasks, even if it is challenging one. Take time to think over and enough time to finish your tasks.
7) Always remember that each problem can be approached in different ways, if by one way, you're not able to solve, take time to think and find another way to solve it. There is nothing in this world that one can't do, only thing, one should have the determination to do it.
8) Think what triggers your anxiety or stress. If you know the cause, then you can always plan ahead how to tackle it.
9) Keep in mind that your family, friends, pets, will power and prayers are sources of great strength and will help you get past any obstacle.
10) Remember certain tasks we always need help from others. So, when you find some task too difficult to handle by yourself, take help from your near and dear ones, who will only be happy to help when you want.
