FRUITS WHICH ARE LOW IN GLUCOSE

Most diabetics fear having fruits thinking it may spike their sugar level. But sadly, as fruits are rich in natural sugars, they don't increase your sugar level unless you take them in large quantity. But, those who wonder which are the best fruits for diabetics with low sugar, here they're-

1) Strawberries- though they've a lovely colour to attract you, aren't high in sugar, They're rich in Vitamin C, so having a cupful will give you enough vitamin but only 7 gm of sugar ! The anthocyanins boost short term memory by 100 percent in eight weeks. Reduces inflammation-Strawberries lower blood levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a signal of inflammation in the body. In a study, women who ate 16 or more strawberries per week were 14 percent less likely to have elevated levels of CRP. Flavonoids — which are responsible for the colour and flavour of strawberries — lower the risk for heart disease.Strawberries are filled with biotin, which helps build strong hair and nails. They also contain the antioxidant ellagic acid, which protects the elastic fibers in our skin to prevent sagging.

2)  Kiwi- it is again rich in Vitamin C and each fruit has only 6 gm of sugar, also full of antioxidant.  Helps Your Digestion with Enzymes-Raw kiwi contains actinidain, a protein-dissolving enzyme that can help digest a meal much like the papain in papaya or bromelain in pineapple. Helps Manage Blood Pressure-Kiwi’s high level of potassium helps keep our electrolytes in balance by counteracting the effects of sodium. Kiwi’s high vitamin C content along with other antioxidant compounds has been proven to boost the immune system.

3) Grapefruit- while eating even half of this fruit, your calories will only increase by 52, but benefit you with Vitamins A,c and potassium and again low in sugar. It helps in weight loss too !

Those who daily consume lime juice in warm water with honey will vouch for it. 7) Cantaloupe/ muskmelon-It is rich in Vitamin A and a cupful of this fruit gives you only 14 gm of sugar. It is also rich in Vitamins A, B6, C, folic acid, niacin, potassium and fibre. Being a rich source of beta-carotene, it is good for the eyes, as anti-cancer properties.

8) Blackberries-Blackberries are rich in antioxidants that prove beneficial to prevent many types of cancer. It contains cyanidin-3-glucoside that inhibits the growth of cancer cells. So it reduces the growth and spread of tumor cells.It is also rich in antioxidants which has proved beneficial to protect damage of cells against free radicals. 10) Peaches- a normal size peach has less than 13 gm of sugar, plenty of fibre.Fight obesity-related diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Peaches are rich in phytochemicals called phenols which acts as antioxidant. Vitamin A and C make peaches a great natural moisturizer; they’re often used in cosmetics. These vitamins can help regenerate skin tissue and hair growth. Being  diuretic, keeps bladder and kidney healthy. Rich in selenium, which is an antioxidant protects from cancer.

11) Watermelon- It has plenty of water in it, hence people have it to hydrate themselves in the summer heat. A cup of watermelon has only 10 gm of sugar. Its seeds are also good for health.
The lycopene in watermelon is especially important for our cardiovascular health and is now being recognized as an important factor in promoting bone health.The citrulline in watermelon has been shown to reduce the accumulation of fat in our fat cells.Watermelon is rich in phenolic compounds like flavonoids, carotenoids, and triterpenoids. The carotenoid lycopene in watermelon is particularly beneficial in reducing inflammation and neutralizing free radicals

It is always best to eat a whole fruit than have its juice, as we get enough fibre from it and gives a feeling of fullness. The fruits also gives us vitamins and minerals, along with fibre, being low in calories, helps to reduce weight.
