SYMPTOMS OF ALLERGIC TO NUTS
Nuts are good sources of protein, so normally people don't think they can be allergic to nuts, like having gluten allergy is well-known. Both kids and adults can be allergic to nuts, while some people as they grow older may over come the allergy, but others aren't so lucky. At times, nuts allergy runs in the family, like I'm allergic to peanuts, sadly my daughter also has this allergy. I never knew I had this allergy till some years ago, as a kid, eaten lots of peanuts mixed with puffed rice, as a healthy snack.
Some symptoms of allergies-
1) hives
2) tenderness of the skin, rashes / redness
3) sore throat
4) swelling of the limbs
5) watery eyes
6) running nose
7) nausea
8) stomach cramps
9) diarrhea
10) breathlessness
Some symptoms which affect respiratory system and skin can be relieved with the help of anti-allergic medications. Cold compress can relieve itchiness. Rarely one can have anaphylaxis- swelling of the throat, which can be serious at times, blocking the airways and leading to breathing difficulty. To get relief from this, one will need adrenaline injection, which your physician knows best what and how to treat.
Once you know that you're allergic to a particular nut, it is best to avoid it in all forms, in salads, burgers, cookies, pies, snacks. It is always best to tell the person who is serving you when you go out about your allergy, so you'll know which foods you'ld avoid. Also, carry in your wallet, your blood group, your allergies, so in case, something happens to you outside, people will know how best to treat you at the earliest, in case you're not in a position to talk.
THIS IS ONLY FOR INFORMATION, ALWAYS CONSULT YOU PHYSICIAN BEFORE HAVING ANY PARTICULAR FOOD/ MEDICATION/EXERCISE/OTHER REMEDIES.
