New tool to calculate your heart’s ‘true age'

The new tool allows people to test their heart’s “true age”, which subsequently provides an estimate regarding chances of heart disease later in life. The study also suggests that one can even lower the age of the heart by making amends in lifestyle.

The tool named as the JBS3 (Joint British Societies) calculator takes into account the current lifestyle habits of the people, their blood pressure and medical conditions that may affect their heart. It can be used to predict how many more years an individual can expect to live before he or she has a heart attack/stroke.

Knowing the heart’s real age can dramatically affect lifestyle choices. Quitting smoking, adopting a healthy diet, exercising and reducing sedentary activity are regarded as best ways to protect the heart.
