altering electromagnetic fields and energy flow within cells and tissues. And that’s believed
(though not yet proven) to soothe overactive pain nerves, plus increase the blood flow to
injured tissues.

The Procedure: There are few magnet therapy experts in the U.S., so most people treat
themselves. Magnets come in shoe inserts, belts, jewelry, patches, seat cushions and even
mattress pads. Look for them at stores such as Walmart or amazon.com -- they are fairly
popular these days. The magnets are placed in contact with painful areas of the body for at
least two hours daily. A word to the wise: Avoid this remedy if you use a pacemaker or insulin
pump -- magnets could mess up their functioning.
