Foods which are useful to fight Asthma


1)      Bananas- are  good for those who are allergic to foods, develop skin rashes & digestive disorders.
But those who are sensitive to it, must avoid bananas.
2)      Figs- helps to drain phlegm when taken regularly. Fresh figs have less calories than dried ones, but the latter has more calcium.
3)      Grapes – either fresh or its juice helps to fight asthma. Grape juice is also useful when taken in small doses to overcome Migraine.
4)      Indian gooseberry/amla- its juice has medicinal properties to fight respiratory disorders.
5)      Orange juice- when mixed with a pinch of salt & 1 tbsp of honey is a good remedy for tuberculosis, bronchitis, asthma, cold. Due to its saline action in the lungs, it eases expectorants & protects from secondary infections.
6)      Drum-stick leaves soup- a handful of leaves, well washed, boiled with 180 ml of water for 5 minutes. Then cool, add salt, pepper pdr. & lime juice to taste. This also protects one from asthma .
7)      Garlic- when taken regularly lowers temperature in pneumonia. When it is applied externally over the chest, it is beneficial, as it acts as an irritant & rubefacient. When 3 garlic pearls are boiled with milk, it helps for tuberculosis & asthma.                                                                             When 2 garlic pearls, 120 ml malt vinegar is boiled well, then strained, cooled. To it equal quantity of honey, it can be preserved in a clean bottle. This should be taken with 1 tbsp of fenugreek seed decoction ( i.e., boil 1 tbsp seeds in 2 cups water, strain it), once in the -evening & before going to bed helps to reduce the severity of asthma.
8)      Ginger= 1 tsp of fresh ginger juice mixed with a cupful of fenugreek decoction & honey to taste helps to reduce fever in influenza. It acts as an expectorant in asthma, bronchitis & tuberculosis.                                                                                                                                       Head-ache- apply ginger paste in the fore-head, it will disappear soon.                                        For ear-ache, a few drops of fresh ginger juice will give relief.
9)      Mint- 1 tsp of fresh mint juice with 2 tsp of malt vinegar & equal quantity of honey mixed with 4 ounces of carrot juice, taken 3 times a day is a good tonic for asthma & other respiratory problems. This liquefies sputum, nourishes lungs, prevents asthma attack & congestion in air passages.
10)   Onion- possess expectorant qualities. It is good home remedy for cold, cough, bronchitis & influenza. Equal amounts of onion juice & honey mixed , &  3-4 tsp of this mixture taken during those conditions, helps greatly. It is a preventive medicine against common cold in winter.
11)   Fenugreek seeds- when boiled with water, has the power to dissolve mucus. It is a good cleansing & soothing drink for respiratory problems.
12)   Radish – fresh juice mixed with equal quantity of honey 7 rock salt, helps to reduce hoarseness, whooping cough, chest complaints. This should be had 3 times a day.
13)   Safflower seeds – ½ tsp pf pdr seeds, mixed in 1 tbsp of honey, taken 1 or 2 times a day, benefits. As it acts as an expectorant, reduces spasms by liquefying the tenacious sputum. Infusion the flower mixed with honey also helps.
14)   Tomatoes-  fresh tomato juice 1 glass, mixed with honey & a pinch of cardamom pdr., taken after swallowing 3 peeled garlic pearls at night is good for all respiratory problems.
