Garlic Not Just Good For Heart, Also For Insomnia !

Some love garlic, many just hate it. Sad that those who are averse to it, don't know its real worth ! Yes, not only does it taste good with food, it helps to relieve gas, lowers cholesterol. Thus, it is good for heart, some say it also keeps your blood sugar levels low. So, try consuming little daily.

Let’s look at the overall health benefits of garlic. It is actually relatively high in calories, with 100 per 100 grams. Garlic features complex carbohydrates and proteins, plus vital minerals and vitamins like vitamin B, sodium, potassium, and magnesium.

It also contains quite a bit of allicin, a sulfur compound that gives garlic its notable smell. This is why garlic is so good for treating infections and can kill certain viruses better than antibiotics.

Furthermore, garlic contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that improve the function of pretty much all of the body’s systems.

Eating garlic on a regular basis supports cardiovascular health by improving blood flow. It can reduce bad cholesterol levels and regulate blood pressure. It has been recommended for metabolic disorders and respiratory problems. Garlic is even thought to prevent premature aging by inhibiting free radical activity, and thereby holding off the development of wrinkles and fine lines.

Now, for all those who are suffering from insomnia, this is going to come as a surprise, instead of swallowing pills to sleep, keep some garlic pearls under your pillow. Allicin, the sulphur compound in garlic has calming effect that helps you to have a sound sleep. Those who have a heavy head due to cold, also find relief from garlic placed under the pillow ! By keeping garlic under the pillow one gets less sick, as allicin is thought to block two groups of enzymes responsible for the ability of infectious microbes to invade and survive in your body.

Garlic is rich in potassium and magnesium- two minerals which play a vital role in your quality of sleep. Magnesium supports deep, restorative sleep by helping to maintain healthy levels of GABA, which is a neurotransmitter that reduces the activity of neurons in the brain and central nervous system, which in turn increases relaxation and reduces stress. Potassium is thought to increase your sleep efficiency and reduce episodes of waking after you drift off. If you get enough of these nutrients in your daily diet, you might not need to take garlic before bed.

For those who are COPD or suffering from bad bouts of cough, I'll strongly recommend that you finely chop or crush 2 -3 pearls of garlic, in 200 ml of milk with 1/2 tsp of turmeric pdr, let it simmer for 20 minutes on low flame, stir from time to time. Then add a tsp of sugar, drink as hot as possible before going to bed. Within 2 days, you'll find a lot of relief in your cough, also the phlegm reduces. I drink this on most nights, recently I recommended this to my friend who even after taking the doctor's meds for more than a week, was still suffering from bad bouts of cough. Within 2 days, her cough is better, now after 4 days, she is a lot better.

Caution for those who have pets, kindly note that garlic is harmful to your pets, so don;t leave it under the bed in your absence,
