Having these 5 Ayurvedic foods on an empty stomach helps in weight loss
Losing
weight is no easy job. From eating right to exercising regularly,
shedding those extra kilos require your time and effort.
But there are some ayurvedic superfoods that accelerate the process and also remove toxins from the body.
Warm water with ghee and lemon
Consume 200 ml of water with some lemon or ghee to improve peristalsis, which is the downward movement of the waste and food. If you have vata or pitta body type, you can prefer ghee with water to lubricate the digestive tract and also eliminate constipation.
Have digestive teas
Nowadays, there is a huge variety of ayurvedic teas available in the market, but it's best if you can make your own. Take 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds, 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds, 1 cardamom and some carom seeds. Boil all these in 500 ml of water, until the water reduces half to its quantity. Drink this tea on an empty stomach to reduce indigestion, bloating and lose weight.
Try metabolism tea
You can kick start your metabolism by having a quick concoction of cinnamon, cardamom, clove, grated ginger, pepper, turmeric and star anise. Boil all these ingredients in 500 ml of water and reduce to half. You can add half a lemon and coconut sugar for taste. The tea helps by improving body heat and metabolism, thus aiding weight loss.
Celery juice
Ayurveda
recommends eating raw fruits and cooked or steamed vegetables to avoid
stressing the gut. Do not have smoothies that mix fruits, vegetables,
milk and yoghurt. The combination can cause accumulation of toxins in
the body. Rather have celery juice with a pinch of pink salt and coconut
oil to reduce inflammation and lose those extra kilos.
Raw fruits
After having your herbal tea, have raw fruits that are astringent in nature. Choose fruits like green apple, red apple, cranberries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, blackberries, pineapple, amla, semi-ripe bananas and pomegranate. These fruits reduce water retention in the body and tighten the tissues and collagen in your skin and aids weight loss.
Five basic rules of weight loss
1. Eat only when you are hungry.
2. Follow the sun's circadian rhythm and do not eat after sunset.
3. Try and follow intermittent fasting for 16 hours, starting at sunset and breaking your fast two hours after sunrise.
4. Eat cooked food after eating raw fruits.
5. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. Have smaller meals and eat to 80 per cent of your appetite, so that there is space for digestive juices to break down your food.
