Ajwain / carom seeds concoction to lose weight

Finding it hard to cut down on the extra kilos? It's time you run to the kitchen!

Weight loss might not be easy but certain spices and kitchen ingredients can definitely speed up your weight loss. From ghee to black pepper, Indian kitchens are always stocked up on superfoods which can help you stay healthy and lose weight in the long run. One such helpful ingredient is ajwain. Surprised?

Here's why

Ajwain, or carom seeds, contain an essential oil called 'thymol' which aids the functioning of the digestive system and counter the side effects of a bad diet. Secondly, it also promotes better absorption of nutrients from the food you take, which could potentially speed up weight loss and provide their own health benefits as well.

Regular consumption of ajwain also works to cut down on toxins from the system and boosts your metabolism. This takes care of unregulated fat stored up in the stomach and recharges you, which could help you burn more calories in a short time. There are also some who claim that ajwain could help you lose upto two kilos in a month's time if used correctly!

While one can always include ajwain in recipes and make yummy paranthas, one way to speed up weight loss is to have it in the form of teas. Here are two ways to have it:

Ajwain soaked overnight in water

One of the best ways to have carrom seeds to lose weight is to have ajwain water every morning. In fact, it is one of the easiest weight loss recipes. All you need to do is take 25g of ajwain, soak in a glass of water overnight and have it the next morning, preferably empty stomach. Have this drink for 15-20 days and you will start to see the difference. You can also bite onto the soaked seeds, which will help secrete digestive juices.

Ajwain jeera chai / Carom-cumin tea

Want to take it up a notch? Make this healthy and soothing weight loss chai. All you need to do is to bring a cup full of water to a boil in a saucepan. To this, add in 1 tablespoon each of ajwain and jeera. Let it simmer, before straining it. Drink when it's warm.

While ajwain regulates your digestion, jeera (cumin seeds) is another powerful weight loss spice, which secrets enzymes that break down sugars, fats and other carbohydrates, keeping the gut healthy as well.
