Emotional trauma- tips to overcome
Wherever we're, whoever we're, at some point in our lives, we're always faced with emotional pain. It could be due to the loss of someone near and dear to us, or due to financial or physical problems- like one has cancer, kidney failure, one feels shattered at this point. The more we try to escape from such trauma, we seem to get caught more and more within its web.
Here are some coping strategies when you are down with mental agony.
1. Spend some time alone- When we love someone, we tend to spend a lot of time with that person. During times of distress, we've to be by ourselves , give ourselves some quality time, to retrospect with in us. It is that time, when we need to indulge in what we love doing- singing/ dancing/ writing/ painting- whatever, it may be, when our mind occupies itself with what we love doing, we tend to forget our problems.
2. Be bold to face the challenge-
During times of distress, we're overcome with negative feelings- anger, frustration, distress and so on. Best is to surrender to the problem and accept the facts in some positive way.
3. Accept the emotional pain and let go-
No one wants to live with pain and suffering. But, when one tries to run away from it, we feel deeper into its trap. We should try to understand the demands, understand, learn the reason behind it.By doing so, we realise, that we can overcome the pain easier.
4.Observe your pain and suffering:
When you are down with emotional pain, you should suffer, but consciously. You must observe your anguish, sadness, and stream of negative thoughts. The terrible feelings that feed your pain should be considered objectively. You should never allow the pain to become a part of who you are.
5.Give yourself some time: You will need some time to drive yourself out of the darkness and accept the presence of your emotional pain. Time can help you rest, heal and recover completely from the grasp of the pain and suffering. You should be gentle with yourself throughout the process and have a faith that everything happens the way it is meant to happen.
Pain always comes with a message. Once you get to understand the message, it becomes easier to find out coping strategies and ways to mitigate the pain while the pain eventually subsides. Face everything boldly, never succumb to any problem, you'll come out as a winner.
