5 biggest mistakes women make during periods

Not monitoring your cycles make periods get your off-guard .
 
If there is a time women hate most of their life is during their monthly periods. Most women hate this time because their periods come with painful cramps, craving for foods and mood swings. Periods will always tell a woman a lot about her body’s health. However, most women don’t know what to do or not to do during their periods. Most of them are doing the wrong things during periods that only cause them problems.

Here are five things not to do during your period:

Have unprotected sex
Sex during periods is considered healthy and safe. However, unprotected sex increases your chances of getting STDs. Additionally, the chances of you getting a bacterial or yeast infection become high.

Drinking alcohol
Most women have cravings for different types of foods and drinks. Alcohol could be one of them. Drinking alcohol during periods will only heighten your mood swings and aches. Therefore, women are advised to drink water or even herbal tea.

Ignoring blood color
Most women don’t know that their blood color might change every time they have periods. Normal blood color during periods starts from brown spotting on the first day, bright shades of red and finally dark brown on the last day. However, if a woman receives periods of any color apart from the above mentioned, then it means she has a problem and should see a doctor.

Take long to change pads
Proper hygiene is maintained through changes of pads. Pads should be changed every time they soak or after every 6 hours. This helps avoid developing itching feel down there. However, some women can take even a whole day in the same pad which is not good.

Not monitoring her cycle
Monitoring of the cycle has many advantages. One will be able to tell when is the safe time to have sex to avoid unplanned pregnancies. More so, this will help women not to be caught off-guard causing them embarrassments.
