HOW TO GET RID OF EXCESS SUGAR FROM THE BODY
We all know that sugar is present in some form or another in the different foods that we eat- be it cookies, soft drinks, fruits, fruit juices, smoothies, in most food items. So, at times, our body gets loaded with too much sugar, which will lead to obesity, diabetes, cardiac diseases, affects our immune system. Above all eating sweets makes us addictive to it.
Some tips as to how to detox our system off the excess sugar-
1) Learn to say NO to sweets and anything with sugar added, at least for a period of fortnight to see the differences you feel by keeping away from sugar and its substitutes in any form.
2) Consume more proteins- Your meal should have more of protein and good fats. As these are difficult to digest, it also makes us feel satiate by eating less and keep us away from food for long, without cravings for food.
3) Avoid refined and starchy foods like pasta, white bread and baked goodies, as they're mostly made with refined white flour. Instead eat vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, leafy greens, brinjal, artichokes, potatoes with skin in boiled form ( not fried). It is good to avoid grains, beans during detox time.
4) Artificial sweeteners should not be replaced for sugar, as they won't benefit in the long run. As, they might be equally addictive. When you crave for dessert, eat some fruits, as they're healthy, will make you feel full longer, due to their fibre content.
5) Keep off refined and processed foods, instead eat whole grains, millets, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, fish, lean meat to curb sweet cravings.
6) Sound sleep is a must to beat cravings for sugar and suppress hunger hormones. Sleep your way to fight the desire to overeat and improve energy levels. A good night's sleep will do wonders for the whole body- both physically and mentally.
