Always feeling tired? Add these 5 energy-boosting foods to your diet

Why some people feel tired all the time

It is natural to feel tired after a busy day at home or work. At the end of the day, you would just want to get under the sheet and sleep peacefully. But when you feel tired for no reason, even after having your meals on time and getting quality sleep, it indicates some serious issues. Unless you have done some physical labour, you must not feel tired all the time. If you do that means your meal is not well-planned and is unable to provide you with the nutrients and energy required by your body. Here are some energy-dense foods that you can add to your diet to energise and rejuvenate yourself.

Spinach

The leafy green is a powerhouse of nutrients. It is loaded with minerals and vitamins that are required by the body to carry out several functions. Most importantly it contains iron, a trace mineral when consumed in an inadequate amount can lead to fatigue. A low amount of iron means a slower oxygen supply to the brain cells, which often results in weakness. So, try to add more spinach to your diet by experimenting with recipes like smoothies, saag or salad.

Banana

Rich potassium, protein and fiber, banana is an energy-dense fruit, which is why it is recommended pre and post-workout. The yellow fruit contains three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose, which can provide instant energy. It is also a good source of carbohydrates, a macronutrient that can spike your energy levels. Eating this fruit regularly can also help to regulate your blood pressure levels.

Beetroot

Just like spinach, this root vegetable is also loaded with iron. Besides, beetroots also contain nitrates, a compound that can improve the productivity of the body's energy-producing cells. It can help to increase the production and supply of nutrients to cells, making you feel energetic. You can have beetroot salad, soup, halwa or can experiment with a recipe of your choice.

Dates

Just 2-3 pieces of dates in a day is all you need to energise yourself and stay active. The sweet dry fruit is loaded with fiber that can increase your satiety and also curb your cravings for sugary food items. Moreover, dates are loaded with B vitamins like pantothenic acid, folate, and niacin, which can boost the metabolic processes that convert food to energy. It can easily help to fight tiredness and fatigue. Dates can also be a natural and healthy replacement for sugar.

Eggs

Eggs are a source of high-quality protein and healthy fats. The combination of the two can keep you satisfied and energised throughout the day. They are also loaded with a variety of vitamins and minerals like iron, choline, vitamin D, and vitamin B-12, which can fulfill the daily nutrient quotient. But when eating eggs, remember to add whole eggs to your diet because all the nutrients are present in the yellow part.
