Stuffed nose – Combine eucalyptus and peppermint
In our opinion, a stuffed nose is the most annoying thing about having a cold. Especially when we’re trying to sleep we have a hard time dealing with a stuffed nose. Luckily for us, there’s an easy solution to this problem. Simply sprinkle a few drops of eucalyptus and peppermint essential oil on a handkerchief and hold the kerchief up to your nose. Breathe in deeply to relieve your stuffed nose. Another option is to fill a bowl with boiling water and to add a few drops of eucalyptus and peppermint oil. Hold your head above the bowl and drape a towel over your head and the bowl so the steam won’t escape. Don’t go to close to the water, you don’t want to burn yourself.
Dry throat – Combine sage and honey
One of the symptoms of a common cold is a dry throat. Your throat could feel dry and scratchy and even hurt. Try to treat a dry throat by spooning a few tablespoons of honey in a saucepan and adding a few leaves of sage. Put the heat on low and heat mixture while stirring occasionally. Take the sage leaves out after a few minutes and put one or two tablespoons honey in your tea. The honey combined with sage will relieve your dry throat immediately.
Prevention – Elderberries and water
Are you afraid you’re catching a cold? Try making an elixir of elderberries. Put a saucepan with water on the stove and add elderberries. Bring the water to a boil and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Then, remove the elderberries and boil the water down to reduce it to half its volume. Let it cool and consume two tablespoons to boost your immune system.
