Shower Before Bed Is More Beneficial

No matter what you do, it’s always important to take a shower. While the majority of us start off our day with a nice, refreshing shower, the prospect of a nighttime shower still appears daunting to many. The point is, while most of us are used to taking a morning shower every day, not many are aware of the various benefits that an evening shower offers. Experts say there's evidence that an evening shower can help you in many meaningful ways.

Here, we will discuss why taking a shower at night is better for your overall health. Let’s take a look. lso:

1. It will help you sleep better
Taking a warm 10-minute shower an hour or two before you hit the hay will help you sleep much better, according to research published in the journal Sleep Medicine Reviews in 2019. Our body temperature is a vital element in regulating circadian rhythms, the 24-hour cycles that are part of the body's internal clock. One of the most important and well-known circadian rhythms is the sleep-wake cycle. Researchers have found that the rapid cooling after you get out of the shower tends to be a natural sleep inducer. Thus, by taking an evening shower, you can convince your body that it's time to go to bed.

Another study from the University of Texas looked at more than 5,000 published studies on how long it takes to fall asleep. They concluded that a 10 to 15-minute bath or shower at a temperature between 104 to 108.5 degrees Fahrenheit (40 to 42.5 degrees Celsius) taken an hour or two before bedtime improved sleep efficiency and quality.

2. It will help get rid of the entire day’s germs
Showering before you go to bed will also get rid of all the germs you would have accumulated on your body throughout the course of the day. Dust and pollen easily latch onto your skin and hair throughout the day and it is essential to expel them before you get into bed. This will not just keep your body clean, it will also ensure that you won’t be bringing any unnecessary allergens into your bed with you. After all, you don’t really want to sleep with all the grime, sweat, and germs you picked up during the day, right?

3. It's better for your skin
A nighttime shower can do wonders for your skin. According to the National Sleep Foundation, washing your face before bed helps lessen breakouts, enhances your moisturizer’s effectiveness, helps prevent wrinkles and reduces your chances of getting eye infections.

While you can, of course, simply wash your face before bed rather than taking a bath, doing both together is the best and most convenient option. It will help get rid of all the make-up, oil, dirt, and pollutants you have accumulated on your face throughout the day.

4. It will help you de-stress
Taking a bath right before bed also tends to relax our body and hence helps keep us fresh for the next morning. Experts say that a nice, warm shower will ease the tension and anxiety you have collected throughout the day and it hence promotes relaxation. The water should ideally be warm but not too hot as the warmth can help you de-stress from a long day and bring on sleep. We also suggest looking for fragrances like vanilla, lavender, and shea butter that will help create a beautifully scented steam cloud to relax your nerves.

Remember, the better your sleep, the more chances you will have to feel fresh the next day.

5. During this pandemic, it is essential to shower after you return from outside
We are living in a time when a dangerous virus has brought the world to its knees. Now, more than ever, it is essential to keep ourselves clean as much as possible. Now that we have started moving out of the house a lot more than we did about six months back, the risks of catching the virus are much higher.

Experts suggest that taking a shower after you return from work at the end of the day would be a really good way to keep yourself safe. This holds particularly true for those who work in a location where they are interacting with many people in a confined space. Showering immediately when you get home from work will ensure that any potential viruses that could have latched onto your skin or hair would be washed away.
