5 simple remedies to get rid off STIFF NECK super fast !

How to get rid of stiff neck

We all know how painful it is to wake up with a stiff neck. The intense ache makes it almost impossible to move the head even the slightest bit. To spend a day with neck pain is really annoying and it makes even the simplest task seem formidable.

Neck pain, at times, might also be accompanied by numbness, headache, stiffness, and difficulty while eating. Most of the time the pain is either caused due to bad sleeping postures, tension, stress or bad body postures. Here are some easy ways to get relief from the terrible neck pain at home:

Stretch your neck gently

The first thing you need to do, if you wake up with severe neck pain, is to stretch a little bit. Moving your head gently will increase the blood flow in a particular area and reduce inflammation. You may move your head side to side or nod slowly a few times as if you are saying 'yes'.

Apply a hot or a cold compress

A hot or a cold compress can also help you to get quick relief from a stiff neck. Compress relaxes your muscles and increases the flow of blood in the neck. It will also help in numbing the pain. Place a hot or cold compress for 10 minutes at a time. Do this at least 2-3 times a day for instant relief. However, keep in mind that if you are battling severe pain, stick with ice as placing a hot compress on a stinging pain can make the matters worst.

Soak yourself in warm water

Nothing is better than warm water with Epsom salt to get rid of the stiff neck. This warm water bath helps to relax and soothe the tightened muscles, while the salt helps to reduce inflammation and improve the blood flow.

Massage with essential oils

You can gently massage your neck with essential oils for immediate relief. Take a few drops of peppermint or lavender oil and mix it with coconut oil. Massage your neck properly with this concoction.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an excellent home remedy to treat a stiff neck. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents present in ACV is known to give relief from stress and muscle pain.
How to use it: Soak a napkin or tissue in some apple cider vinegar and place it on your neck. Leave the napkin in the same position for an hour. Repeat it at least twice a day.

Other tips

-If you often suffer from neck pain then change your sleeping position. Try to sleep on your side, rather than lying on your back or stomach.
-Change your pillow if you have not done it from quite a long time.
-Improper posture can also lead to neck pain. So, keep a check on it.
- Count the time you spend glued to your laptop and smartphone. It could also be a leading cause for that neck pain.
