Respiratory infections- foods to avoid, foods which help
To recover from respiratory tract infections
One should avoid foods that have too much of phlegm. So, one should consume foods that have drying properties.
Avoid foods like rice, banana, cold drinks, maida( all purpose flour), fried foods, butter, buttermilk ( lassi) & paneer.
Foods that help in healing & which should be consumed regularly throughout the day are-
Black pepper- as it reduces phlegm & dries infections.
Turmeric- redices infection & helps in healing.
Ginger- dries the secretions & is a natural antibiotic.
Neem & tulsi’s steam should be inhaled regularly.
Nutrition- high protein foods with low fat like pulses in boiled form should be eaten as they effectively dry lungs after pneumonia. Fruits like pomegranate, apple sweet line ( mosambi) also help as they provide adequate protein for tissue repair. Zinc & Vitamin C are required for regeneration as well.
