Itchy red eyes may be due to diabetes
Did you know that your itchy, red eyes may be indirectly related to your diabetes?
If your peepers are red and throbbing with a pressure-like sensation, you may want to get checked for glaucoma, a condition in which pressure in the eye is elevated. Although symptoms of glaucoma can be minimal until vision loss occurs, glaucoma patients reported redness and pain in or around the eye.
Glaucoma is common in people with diabetes, so be sure to schedule a yearly eye exam. If detected early, glaucoma is treatable, usually with prescription eye drops. But if left untreated, it can result in blindness.
