When you search for ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) on Google, you will find definitions that will include words like hyperactivity, impulsiveness, inability to sit still or control one’s behaviour, lack of focus etc. It is the most commonly diagnosed disorder in children and is more common in boys when compared to girls. Since most of the information present on ADHD primarily focuses on children and teens, it can be difficult to diagnose how the disease presents itself in adults. While a lack of attention and focus are the keywords for ADHD diagnosis, a lot of adults who get diagnosed later in life, may not have these telltale symptoms at all.

You have trouble sitting through an entire conversation

The ADHD brain may move faster than you speak and the words arrive well in advance in your brain before you even let them out. Hence, if you find yourself rushing through conversations, constantly interrupting others, not letting someone finish what they are saying, it may point towards adult ADHD. Another sign could be that you feel that others take too long to come to a conclusion or almost all the conversations are not stimulating or interesting enough for you to listen patiently. 

You get tired at work easily

How does a typical workday feel for you? While feeling a little tired after a long day of work is common for most adults, if you get bone-tired after the day is done, it could point towards ADHD. This is because people with undiagnosed ADHD have to continuously work hard to stay focused and bring their mind back to the chore at hand. Doing this day after day can certainly cause extreme fatigue. 

You are almost always late, everywhere

Adults with ADHD often have extreme trouble managing their time as they simply miscalculate the amount of time it’d take them to do the basic chores and reach the place. It can be incredibly frustrating not only for other people but for the person himself as well.

You often leave things unfinished

While a lot of people get side-tracked in the middle of their chores, adults battling high-functioning ADHD often leave things half-finished. If you constantly have trouble committing to a task and sticking through it till the end, you may have ADHD. This is because you may have trouble imagining the end result as the brain is understimulated. 

You are forgetful

A person with ADHD may not be fully present at the moment as their brain does not slow down to keep up with what is happening currently. This is why they are often forgetful and miss out on crucial bits of information, simply because their mind was not fully present. While you may appear engaged in a conversation, your mind can simply zone out and focus on other things.
