Try these home remedies

Headache is a general health concern that troubles several people regularly. There is absolutely no way to evade the happening as it can be triggered by any small event that you might not even consider prominent. Sleepless nights, skipping breakfast, work pressure or stressful days, all these things can cause headache and topple your life upside down.

Try them

In general, what do you do in such a situation? Pop an over-the-counter medicine, which is not that bad, unless you do it quite often. Having too many painkillers can be harmful to your health in the long run. Another safe and effective way to get rid of your nasty pain is to consume headache relieving foods. Yes, some foods are known to provide relief from nasty headache. Try them next time instead of your regular pain killer drug.

Wheat-grain toast

Low carbohydrate intake can also lead to a headache. This mostly happens with people following a low-carb diet. Low-carb intake leads to depletion of glycogen in the body, which is the main source of energy to the brain. This also causes fluid loss, causing dehydration and then ultimately leads to a headache. Reaching for carbs at this time can soothe your headache and even improve your mood.

Ginger

Ginger is a superfood that is effective in providing relief from several health conditions. The root can block prostaglandins (neurotransmitters that play a role in inflammation) and can provide relief from headache and migraine. Ginger can also be effective when dealing with nausea and flu. You can drink ginger tea or add ginger to your food.

Watermelon

A major cause of headache is dehydration. So, drinking water or having water-rich foods can help to soothe your condition. Watermelon contains 92 per cent of water and can be a good option to rehydrate you. It is packed with nutrients like potassium and magnesium, which works quite effectively on headache.

Spinach

Leafy green vegetables like spinach and kale contain a high amount of magnesium, a nutrient that is known for its headache alleviating properties. One cup of Spinach contains 24 milligrams of magnesium. Not only this, but studies suggest that regular intake of magnesium can reduce migraine attacks by 41.2 per cent.

Yoghurt

Having calcium-rich food can also help to provide relief from your pounding headache. Calcium deficiency decreases the ability of the brain to work efficiently. Yoghurt contains a high amount of riboflavin, a part of the B vitamin complex that can be effective on headache. It is also good for your gut health.
