3 expert-approved easy ways to disinfect your DIY face mask

Most of the pharmacies don't have masks and sanitizers at this time. If you don't have a sanitizer, you still have the option of washing hands with soap and water. But what about when you don't have a mask? The best option is to make your own.

But how many times you should use a DIY mask? How frequently should you disinfect it? We tell you all.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the DIY masks should be washed at least once a day. Moreover, the surgical masks and N95 masks should be kept for people on the front line like hospital staff, police and other people involved in emergency services.

Here are three expert-approved ways to disinfect your DIY mask of COVID 19 virus
 

​Cleaning mask in the sink

If you do not have a washing machine, you can disinfect your mask in the kitchen sink. Fill a big bowl with hot water and dish soap. Soak in the face mask for at least five minutes. Let the mask get completely dry before you use it again.
 

​Cleaning mask in a washing machine

If you have a washing machine at home, regular washing and drying can do the job of sanitizing your mask. Put your mask in a bag before putting it in the machine, so that the elastic doesn't get loose. Use laundry detergent and hot water. Dry it in the dryer on a high-temperature setting.
 

​Cleaning the mask in the oven
If you have a non-inflammable mask and are a bit lazy, you can disinfect the mask with dry heat. Put the mask in the oven at 158 degrees or iron it properly on medium heat. If you cleaning it in the oven, do it for 30 minutes.
