New Way To Restore Memory Loss For Alzheimer Patients

Researchers were able to restore memory loss in mice, by blocking the enzyme HDAC2. Blocking this enzyme to restore memory is nothing new. But previous attempts blocked too many enzymes, which can have toxic side-effects. Now, researchers can target the precise enzyme, restoring memory and enabling you to form new ones.

Scientists believe this could help Alzheimer's patients, who experience memory loss and forgetfulness. Researchers blocked the enzyme with a large protein, but they're currently looking for smaller molecules, so the protein could be used as a drug.
