Your Clothes and Shoes Will Always Look Great with These
I don't know about you, but when something
isn't quite right with my clothes or shoes, it really gets on my nerves.
I get an uncontrollable urge to correct it, right there and then. Over
the years, I've learned many a great trick to keep my clothes and shoes
looking as fresh and as smart as can be. Here are 20 of my best - try
them today:
1. Lemon juice and baking soda are both great for removing underarm stains from clothes.
2. Refrigerate a sweater for 3-4 hours to prevent tangling or crumpling.
3. You can remove static electricity from clothes by wiping them with the underside of an ordinary tissue.
4. Use hair straighteners to take slight crumples out of your clothes.
5. If you've spilled foundation on your shirt, you can get rid of it with shaving foam.
6. Stretch narrow shoes by pouring some
water into re-sealable plastic bags, placing them carefully in side the
shoes, and leaving them in the freezer overnight.
7. Red wine stains disappear when you pour
white wine on them, sprinkle them with baking soda, and wash everything
off after 2-3 hours.
8. Prevent knee-length boots from losing their shape by storing them with old magazines rolled inside them.
9. New shoes don't have to give you sore heels - rub your heels with a stick of deodorant to prevent blisters.
10. Soften up a leather coat by walking around in it in the rain.
11. Lipstick stains come off with hairspray.
12. Part of the rubber from the end of a pencil is perfect for holding an earring in place after losing a clasp stud.
13. If you've just bought some new flats
that feel a little tight, put some thick socks on, then your shoes.
Blow-dry the areas that feel tight for a few minutes to loosen them up a
little.
14. Return strength to weakened glasses frames by using nail varnish.
15. Use an eraser to clean up scuffs on your suede shoes.
16. Remove fuzz from a sweater using a razor.
17. An ordinary graphite pencil is all you
need to get a broken zipper moving again. Simply rub the pencil over the
zipper's teeth.
18. Mix detergent and baking soda in a
bowl. Smear the solution onto the white soles of trainers using an old
toothbrush. A good scrub will help keep them clean.
19. Use the following method to tuck loose jeans into your shoes.
20. Try adding half a cup of distilled vinegar to a wash to prevent dark jeans from leaking color.
