This diet can cure erectile dysfunction, says study
Follow this diet to stay healthy
Erectile dysfunction or impotence is one of the major health challenges for men in today's world. The problem is quite rife in people of all age groups and is caused by various factors like medication, smoking, drugs, or alcohol. Unfortunately, in the pursuit of a quick fix, most of the time people overlook the underlying health condition that needs to be addressed to resolve the problem. From home remedies to supplements, they try almost everything to cure their performance woes. While the condition can be cured by taking pills, another way to overcome this issue is by having a healthy diet. Researchers have recently found that following a particular kind of diet can help to improve your health and cure the problem of erectile dysfunctioning.
How common is erectile dysfunctioning
Erectile
dysfunction (ED) is the inability to get or maintain an erection firm
enough to have sexual intercourse. In this condition, men can have a
healthy sex drive, but the body won’t respond. Most of the time it
happens due to excessive stress. Occasional ED is rare, while frequent
ED can be a sign of underlying health problems that need treatment. Data
suggest that 1 in 5 men report the problem of erectile dysfunction and
the number keeps increasing with age.
This is a diet that you must follow
As
we all know that the food we eat does not only provide us with energy
but also helps to keep us healthy and disease-free. New research
suggests that men who have foods that closely adhere to the
Mediterranean diet are less likely to face the problem of erectile
dysfunction. This was revealed in the study led by Dr Scott R. Baue, an
assistant professor of medicine at the University of California at San
Francisco to measure how important eating a healthy diet is to managing
erectile function.
For the study, the team of researchers studied the data collected previously for a survey by Harvard University, which was carried out on more than 21000 men and their diet quality after every four years between 1986 and 2014.
The end result
In
the end, it was found that men whose food choices were close to the
Mediterranean diet had fewer chances of getting erectile dysfunction at
any age. Moreover, men below 60 years who followed the healthy diet that
reduced the risk of chronic disease were also less likely to experience
erectile dysfunction.
What is the Mediterranean diet?
Mediterranean
diet has been praised for its myriad health benefits. Due to its
promising health benefits, it was named as the healthiest diet of 2019.
The Mediterranean diet is based on the traditional foods that people
used to eat in countries close to the Mediterranean sea including
Greece, France, Italy. The foundation of this diet is vegetables,
fruits, herbs, nuts, beans, whole grains and healthy fats.
