How to make cough syrup (The demonstration is done on the basic combination of lemon ginger and honey, but it also applies in the same way to the other combinations)

Choose a glass jar of any size, with a lid. Slice a lemon, scrape the ginger and prepare the honey.

Procedure: Put in half a cup of the sliced citrus, half the ground spice, and fill with enough honey to cover all the ingredients. Mix with a long spoon.
Within 3-4 hours, the syrup is ready to be used, as the honey will extract the juices from the citrus fruit and will then become thinner in consistency. If you want a thicker result, increase the ratio of honey to citrus.

It is best to keep the jar covered and refrigerated. You can add honey from time to time, to keep the jar filled. It will stay good for at least a month or two, maybe even longer. Honey is a natural preservative and citrus has a high level of acidity that gives extra preservative power, but if you add fresh ingredients like mint, the time you can save the syrup for will decrease.

It is recommended to swallow one or two teaspoons of syrup to soothe coughing or a sore throat.

Another option: mix a tablespoonful of syrup in a glass of hot water or in a cup of tea.
