"You are what you eat"- We all are familiar with this adage, which is true in every manner. Eating   healthy and clean food reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases and helps you live a long and happy life. Healthy foods are packed with nutrients, vitamins, minerals and protein, which is required by our body to function properly. But just like every other thing, too much of a good thing is also bad for health, even when we are talking about healthy foods. There are many healthy foods, which are good for health, but consuming them in excess can be dangerous. Here are some of them:

​Soybeans

Soybeans are a type of legume, which you can include in your diet in different ways like soy milk, tofu. It is packed with protein, calcium, manganese and selenium, in addition to a few other vitamins. Regular intake of soybean may ease the symptoms of menopause and reduce your risk of prostate cancer.

However, excess of soybeans can restrict the absorption and processing of protein by the body. This is because beans contain a high amount of trypsin and protease inhibitors.

Sweet potatoes

Sweet potato is a root vegetable and an healthier alternative to starchy white potatoes. They are packed with vitamin C, vitamin B, copper, potassium and manganese. It helps to lose weight, treat respiratory problems, fight arthritis and stomach ulcers. But due to the high level of beta-carotene and Vitamin A, consuming too many sweet potatoes can change the colour of your skin. Your body and nail may look orangish. Once you reduce the consumption of sweet potatoes, the orange colour will fade away. 

Brazil Nuts

Brazil Nuts are a great source of monounsaturated fat, protein, magnesium, zinc, calcium, vitamin E and some B vitamins. It helps to regulate your thyroid gland, reduce inflammation and reduce the risk of developing different kinds of cancer. The nut is also a rich source of selenium. Selenium is an essential mineral but can be toxic if consumed in high amount. The symptoms may include loss of hair and nails, digestive issues and memory difficulties

Almonds

The crunchy almonds contain lots of fibre, protein and magnesium. It helps to reduce blood sugar level, blood pressure and lower cholesterol level.

This nut is also a rich source of Vitamin E and excessive intake of this nutrient can lead to toxicity in your body. A person may have a breathing problem, nervous breakdown, choking, headaches, diarrhoea and flatulence.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is not only a flavouring agent, but it is also good for health. It is packed with calcium, carbohydrate, Vitamin A and magnesium. The spice helps to reduce inflammation and lower blood sugar levels. Cinnamon also contains a compound called coumarin, which may be harmful if consumed in a large amount. It is linked with liver toxicity and cancer
