Want healthy, radiant skin at home? Here are some natural ingredients and DIY ideas
Your skin is the largest organ of the body. The skin
is also one of the most important sense organs and is responsible for
the sensation of touch, heat, cold, etc. However, as the cosmetic
industry has evolved, the skincare and the cosmetic market have also
become one of the largest industries, and an innumerable number of
brands continue to sell an array of products for various skincare
concerns, or areas, and continue to mint money.
However, if you stop and pay attention to the amount of money you spend on these products, for absolutely no results to be seen on your skin, it might just open your eyes to the vanity of it all. It might also make you realise that the age-old home remedies and tips and tricks handed down to you by your mother or grandmother are real gems of skincare. These products are natural, easily available, and do not contain any chemicals or ingredients that may cause any long-term damage to the skin. Here are some ways you can use these ingredients as skincare packs. Raw Milk – Raw milk has been often used as a cleanser, and can also be used to lighten skin from tan or sunburn. Chilled raw milk can also feel very refreshing in this summer season. How to use: Take two teaspoons of raw milk every morning in a small bowl. Using a cotton ball, dip it in the milk and apply a thin layer on your face and neck. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with normal water. Honey – Honey is used as a home remedy for so many infections and problems such as a sore throat or common cold. Honey can also be used to hydrate the skin and provide nourishment to it. It naturally moisturizes the skin, reducing any flakiness or dry skin. How to use: You may use just honey on your face. Take about one teaspoon in a bowl and use your fingers to spread an even, thin layer on the skin. However, if you are not a fan of the stickiness, you may add honey in other DIY packs. For instance, you can add honey to a fuller's earth face pack, or a gram flour and turmeric face pack to turn the powder into a paste. Gram flour – Gram flour or Besan has been recommended for cleansing or exfoliating your skin. An ubtan made with gram flour is also used to remove dead skin and even sparse hair growth. How to use: You can make a pack with gram flour, turmeric, honey or lemon juice, and apply it on the face. Once dry, use little water at a time and remove the pack while scrubbing your face. You may also take a little paste at a time and scrub your face directly. The third option is to make ubtan with gram flour and use oil to scrub it off. Sugar – Sugar granules are another very popular exfoliant, as they also help to remove dead skin and dirt from the skin. Sugar scrubs are very commonly used on the lips. How to use: Mix small sugar granules, or powdered sugar with a teaspoon of lemon juice, and dilute with water. Mix well. Use the mix to scrub your face and neck. To make a lip scrub, add sugar granules with a little coconut oil, and use to scrub off dirt and dead skin from your lips. |
