Coronavirus: How to ensure safety during food delivery?
As part of the India Today E-Conclave Corona Series, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, Dr Naresh Trehan and AIIMS-Delhi Director Dr Randeep Guleria spoke in an exclusive conversation on Sunday about the novel coronavirus outbreak and how it has affected the world.
Dr Naresh Trehan spoke about how food deliveries can be made without risking either the delivery persons or the customers.
"There are certain steps the food manufacturer and the delivery process has to take, including decontaminating every part along the way," Dr Naresh Trehan says. He adds, "This includes how the food is handled, how it is packed and how it is delivered."
Dr Trehan also says, "The delivery person should wear double-masks, they should not get closer than three feet to the person they are delivering. The person who is receiving (the delivery) should also wear a mask."
"You can desanitise the package as it comes to you. The person making the delivery should wear gloves which are to be discarded after every delivery, they should wear new gloves after each delivery," Dr Trehan adds.
The Chairman and MD of Medanta, Dr Naresh Trehan concludes, "If you take all this, there is very little or no evidence to say that this has caused the transmission to a great extent."
