5 Wonderful Facial Scrubs You Can Easily Make at Home
Sometimes,
simply washing your face just doesn’t cut it, and while using soaps and
masks can certainly do a better job of keeping your face feeling fresh
and clean, in order to really promote healthier, younger facial skin, you need to exfoliate.
By scrubbing the skin, you will be removing dead skin cells that cling
to your face, promoting smoother, livelier skin, and there’s absolutely
no reason why you should spend a fortune on overpriced facial scrubs
when you can easily make ones in your home from ingredients that you
probably already have.
Here are five such recipes for homemade facial scrubs, made from ingredients most of us have lying around in our kitchen.
1. Rice Scrub
Get
any type of uncooked rice and grind it down to smaller grains (but not
to the point of powder). Add honey to the ground rice and mix to form a
paste. Cut a lemon in half and dip the broad end in the paste, applying a
good amount of it to the lemon. Rub the lemon with the paste on your
face and rinse off.
2. Coconut Oil Scrub
This
scrub is best used for dry skin, as it leaves the skin feeling soft and
glistening. Mix about half a cup of coconut oil, two tablespoons of
sugar and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply to the face. Remove the
scrub with a damp washcloth and wash the face using cold water.
Almond meal isn’t just a great flour substitute
for people who are trying to cut on carbs. It’s also a great
exfoliating agent. And you don’t need to buy prepackaged almond meal,
either. Just put raw, unsalted almonds in a food processor and grind
until you get a fine powder. Add almond oil (coconut or olive oils can
also work) and a few drops of essential oil of your choice to the mix.
Apply the mixture to a freshly-washed face and scrub gently. Remove with
a damp washcloth and wash the face using cold water.
4. Yogurt Scrub
In and of itself, yogurt can do wonders for your skin,
but you can really put it into action by adding a few ingredients. Just
add some coffee grounds or sea salt to the yogurt for a particularly
potent scrub.
5. Cinnamon Scrubs
Cinnamon is a veritable superfood that gives off a wonderful aroma, and just like all the other
ingredients above, healthy food makes for healthy cosmetic creams. Mix
one teaspoon cinnamon and one tablespoon honey and stir well. Apply to
the face and let rest for thirty minutes, then wash off with warm water.
